After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. I understand where Miguel is coming from. But he’s forgotten the one thing about being Spider-Man: never be a bystander. No matter what, Spider-Man always tries to save everyone. And sometimes he fails, and that hurts so much. But it’s better to try and fail, instead of just doing nothing. Because you’ll always wonder, “What if I tried and succeeded?”
Literal Universe destruction according to both Sony and MCU.
Yeah, but you have to understand if he even try to save his dad in his universe it’s not really going to matter since that universe is going to disintegrate meaning his dad would still die, including his mom and everyone else living in that universe
BUT! If Miles is being an anomaly, than why the rules of the multiverse should working with him? His universe is not collapsed after he was bitten by a spider from Earth-42, then why “captains dying rule” should work with him nether?

You could have asked why Earth 42 too. It isn't destroyed because there's no Spider man, so no Canon from the Web of Life and Destiny will affect it.
I find it super interesting how Gwen's spidey sense went off despite Miles being in another universe. I remember in the first movie she mentioned it guided her to the school too, so it seems to be a bit more advanced than just the typical danger warning or connecting with other spiders
Its cause they're soulmates. They have a special connection with each other that they don't share with any other Spider-People

@@cloverlucky5977 I mean I understand your sentiment but even in the first movie, Miles and Gwen's interactions had a romantic basis rather than one based on friendship, so this is not some hamfisted bait and switch but obviously planned - Miles was romantically interested in her from the start, and then we found out later Gwen is able to sense things about Miles that she shouldn't be able to (like her going to Visions Academy before he was ever bitten, her being able to sense him in a different dimension, and her getting a Spider-sense when he was attacked by Prowler Miles).
Moreover, both Gwen and Miles already have multiple significant friends/allies of the opposite sex already so what you're mentioning is already explored. But it simply doesn't make sense to give Gwen such an outsized role in the recent movie, to the point where she's actually the other protagonist, if the point is to make her just another friend. Otherwise they could've given Peni Parker or Spider-Byte the same amount of importance and screentime as Gwen. These movies are specifically about Miles Morales' story. You'll notice in the first Spider-Verse movie where romance wasn't a main theme, Peter B. Parker had such a more important role than in the recent movie; that's because that was the beginning of Miles' story where he needed mentorship and established the multiverse. Now that we're in the meat of the story, it's intentional that they're making Gwen Stacy the other main character where we're exploring her story when juxtaposing it with Miles.
The main driving force behind a lot of the story in Across the Spider-Verse was because of how strongly Miles felt about Gwen or vice-versa. He literally jumped into a different universe where he could die just because he couldn't let her go off alone. And Gwen ultimately went against the Spider-Society and created a team just to support Miles against Miguel and his crew. I don't believe it makes any sense at all that these two only end up as "friends" when feeling so strongly for each other and thinking of each other more than any other "friend" they have. It would be nonsensical and a waste of screentime that they would've given to other storylines.
The “chai tea” moment has been memed to hell and I love it. Indian Spider-Man and Hobey are easily the highlights of the movie.
I can’t imagine how difficult the latter part of this movie was to animate.
The twist with Prower Miles was great and so was the cliffhanger with Team Spider was great.
Beyond the Spider Verse will be an all out war.
And I can’t wait!

I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR ALL THE SPIDER PEOPLE THEY ALL HAD ONE THING IN COMMON AND ITS THAT THEY ALL LOST SOMEONE IMPORTANT
Some lost multiple people, the prime Peter alone lost his parents, uncle, Gwen, Harry and even his daughter Mayday. He lost Aunt May a few times but she’s always brought back.

Gwen was there to monitor the Spot, not to see Miles. Gwen knew about “canon events” and about Miles being bit by a spider from another world. I’m eagerly waiting for that third film.
She was part of the spider-society, and only went to other universes when she had a mission to do.
She missed miles a LOT and wanted to see him badly… but she wasn't allowed to. But the second she got an ‘okay’ to go to his home universe - she just portaled STRAIGHT to his bedroom to hug him and hangout lol
She was SUPPOSED to be there to monitor the spot, but in her heart/gut she just wanted to see miles and spend time with him again. she missed him.
@@gjk-arts5855 And it means a great deal that Gwen feels that way doesn't it -- someone who has sworn off making any meaningful connections w people again. I need their friendship to be mended in BTSV so bad! I need the ITSV squad together again and all hang out w Pav and Hobie!
The perfect sequel to a near flawless movie. The animation, characters, and action are even more incredible this time around. I especially love how well Miguel as an antagonist represents the fundamental flaw of the Spider Society’s doctrine: that Spider-People are defined by their trauma and that their trauma is essential.
Some of my favorite details in this movie:
-Gwen swinging to the Guggenheim is one of my FAVORITE scenes, it's so beautiful, and the whole fight scene has a great backing track! Also-her main riff motif is the original Spider-Man's theme but greatly modified.
-Miguel O'Hara-Spider-Man 2099-doesn't have a Spidey-sense. He has a similar ability, Accelerated Vision, but it doesn't give him that innate sense of being able to tell when danger is coming.
-The scene of LYLA (Miguel's AI Assistant) taking a selfie with the bunny filter is one of the first instances of the movie's multiple versions in theaters! There are multiple versions with different dialague, altered audio, or straight-up different visuals. In the alternate version, LYLA instead crouches and points at Miguel with a cheeky grin.
-The first apology video Miles made for the baby powder apparently is because, according to a comment in the movie, "is made of babies"?????
-Genke is playing Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 for the PS5!
-That whole LEGO scene was animated by a 14-year old! He caught the movie runners' attention when he recreated the trailers in LEGOs, and so he was offered a quick scene for the movie. Quite phenomenal!
-That DJ at the party STRUGGLING to drown out the Morales' argument and ultimately failing to KILLS me!
-Rio's dialogue about "it's not just your life, it's everyone's, I would love to be where you are" greatly mirrors what happens with Miguel later in the film-namely being able to effect change in the same way Miles wants to AND save everyone (tying back to the 2 Cakes metaphor)
-The scene of Gwen and Miles swinging around NYC? AMAZING-especially that song. You can really see they're truly happy and in their element together. That 'thread the needle' scene sticks with me.
-Miles struggling to confide in his mother, and Rio seeing that and ACCEPTING that he wants to extend his reach, I was nearly in tears in theaters! (Not to mention how her dialogue about the 'big places and belonging' is excellent foreshadowing.
-The entire shot of the four Spider-people was HYPE.
-Donald Glover cameo-ing as a Prowler is an amazing reference, as he was one of the main inspirations for the creation of Miles Morales in the comics.
-Miles and Miguel are so interesting as parallels to each other-one is more of a traditional Spider-Man, the other is created very much a polar opposite of the traditional Spider-Man. Not to mention the dimensions thing-he tried to have his cake and eat it, too, by being Spider-Man AND having a happy life by giving his daughter Gabriella the father she technically 'lost' back.
-Plush Spier-Man briefly apepars in the chase sequence a couple times, a hilarious detail to see every time.
-Hobie, despite having only like 5-10 minutes of screentime, had EVERYONE'S BACK! He reminded Miles to pay attention to the cracks in Spider-Society, taught him how to break free of their detainment devices, stole parts to build HIS OWN WATCH, 'cuz he knew the Society was cooking something BAD.
-I love the use of lighting in the scene in Aaron's apartment-when Miles wakes up and sees Aaron, all he sees is green and purple-the traditional Prowler colors. BUT the rest of the scene is ENTIRELY in red and blue-the traditional SPIDER-MAN colors!
-There are a couple easter eggs you can catch when Miles gliches out-while on the train, he briefly flashes back to his cheap Spider-Man costume in the first movie; later, when he's climbing the stairs in Earth-42, he flashes back to earlier in this movie when he's carrying the 2 Cakes!
-In the Spot's monologue scene at the beginning of the movie, when he talks about the spider he got from Earth-42, you could see for a brief moment 42-Miles (via his braids).
-Miles and the Prowler's themes are the same song, but reversed! I only learned of this a day ago.
dont forget in into the spider-verse. When Miles first met peter both their spider-senses were going off and Peters colors were red and blue and Miles were Green and Purple (Prowlers colors) but switched to red and blue (Spider-Mans colors) showing that both E42 and E1610 Miles fates were supposed to be switched he was supposed to be the Prowler but the spider biting him instead changed his fate and E42 spider-mans fate
If I'm not mistaken Spider-man 2099 differs quite a bit from other spiders. Instead of being bit his DNA was spliced with spider genes which gave him retractable claws instead of the sticky hands, venomous fangs and I don't believe he has the Spider sense😅
He doesn't have it, hence how he didn't see Vulture coming despite being right behind him
That climatic Prowler reveal is amazing. You see it coming, but you still get chills.

Also, Burger King did promote the movie by making a Spider-Verse whopper. I wanted to try it, but my locations didn’t have it.
Miguel is one intense character, and the fact that he thinks that every spiderman has to lose someone important in order to be a true spiderman is just messed up. Miles doesn't need to lose his dad and i freaking hope he doesn't in the next movie! It doesn't have to be this way. And just like Miles said... he is gonna do his own thing, he is going to be spiderman his way. Looking forward to the third movie! 😲

Miguel himself tried to go his own way, and we saw the consequences. He isn't doing what he does just from belief. He's doing it because he saw first hand the results of disrupting things.

Knowing that every Spider-Man movie ,show, and comic book is connected to each other just puts a warm fuzzy feeling in me for some reason.
@@almas4663 It’s mainly Miguel that’s wrong. He’s the one that told every Spider-person how he believes canon events work and everyone took his word for it. They’re just following Miguel’s lead. And also we didn’t see Toby, Andrew, or Tom’s Spider-Man chasing Miles, so it’s not EVERY Spider-person that we know and love. The Spider-people being wrong also doesn’t mean they are bad. They have good intentions since they believe they are saving universes. Plenty of Spider-People have done wrong before. Case in point, Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man killed uncle Bens killer.
@@almas4663 If Miguel is proven wrong then that doesn’t mean that all the Spider-Peoples sacrifices were for nothing. Their sacrifices make them who they are. It’s what makes them Spider-People and their struggles and sacrifice pushes them to save more people. There doesn’t have to be a pre determined destiny for sacrifice to mean something.

He lost his uncle, remember?All his friends also live in other universes and he will probably never get to see them after he saves his universe.There’s also still a whole other movie for him to lose people. He could lose Gwen, he could lose Peter, he could lose his mom, or literally anyone else. There’s a full upcoming movie with plenty of room for sacrifice.
@@almas4663 “Annoys me he even cared for him at all.” Have you never loved anyone ever in your life at all? His uncle was a bad guy, but miles didn’t know it until like, 24 hours before the guy died. When you love and deeply care for someone (especially a family member that’s been around your entire life) you don’t really care what type of person they are. You only see the good in them and love them. Miles had a strong bond with his uncle his entire life. You can’t just expect him to suddenly hate him.
And you act as if you 100% know what the writers are gonna do, but in fact you don’t.
I never expected Tom’s Spider-Man to try and kill someone, but he tried killing green goblin in No Way Home. I also never expected Gwen Stacy to die in ASM2, but she did, I never expected Thanos to win in Infinity War, but he did. You don’t know what the writers are gonna do in the next movie, yet your still criticizing it even though there isn’t even a release date for it.
@@almas4663 just because his uncle sucked it doesn't mean Miles couldn't love him. Like the whole point is that Miles and him were close before he discovered he was the prowler and even if you discover the bad stuff someone you love did, that won't erase all of those years you spent together and your feelings for them.
Uncle Aaron's death still matters, because again, discovering your uncle sucks won't erase all of those years of caring, and it is more sad in a way because then you wonder if your loved one could have become better if only they lived and you were there to help them
That incredible Spider-Man chase scene took the animators 4 years to make and it sure was hell a worth it! 🎉
I saw this Spider Verse movie with my best friend in theaters and I absolutely CANNOT get over of how ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE little baby Mayday Parker is!!!!!! She is absolutely the cutest spider baby ever and I just love her curls. She looks just like her mommy and she has her daddy’s powers. So cute.

I kid you not this quote came to my head during the "intervention" scene and as a long-time spider-man fan, it made the experience of watching this movie in theaters much more epic

Just like any perfect sequel, Across the Spider-Verse takes what was so good about the first film and elevates all of it to a whole other level. It’s definitely a much more ambitious sequel and the fact it's only half a film, meaning it’s incomplete before Beyond the Spider-Verse is insane.
Yeah, plus we all know how dangerous Spot is, Plus Miguel, Jessica, and the whole Spider-Society won’t stop until a canon event happens, Right now Gwen and her team had to find Miles as soon as possible and to get him home. Even if means they get the 3 best live action Spider-Man to help them, fighting Miguel and the whole Spider-society, or die trying to save Miles’s world.
This movie is SO DAMN good!! Everything from the characters to the plot all fall perfectly into place! The twist at the end had me shook, the fact that Miles ended up in the wrong universe and the Prowler in said universe is him! I also love the little details they threw in and what they meant for the story. For example, the grades lady at the beginning made a metaphor about cake and Miles came in and argued you can't if you have two cakes. However, later when he has to bring the two cakes to the party, they both get ruined because of his hero duties. The cakes are meant to represent Miles trying to be Spider-Man AND save everyone he cares about at the same time!
They actually did it! They actually managed to somehow top the first movie.

Miguel isn't like the other Spidermen he wasn't bite by radioactive spider. He actively spliced his human DNA with Spider DNA in an experiment to recreate the original Spiderman. The experiment made him more spider and gave him fangs that secret paralytic venom and claws that he uses to climb walls. That's why he looks like a vampire,he can't stick to walls he has to claw his way up and he doesn't have a spider sense but inhanced senses.
Miguel may seem like a cold hearted prick but he's just doing what he believes is right. He broke Canon and it ended up in the lose of millions of lives including his daughter.He's just trying to repent for his sins by keeping the multiverse in check.
Miguel doesn't hate miles he's just trying to stop him from making the same mistake he did. But while doing so he's also projecting his own self loathing and guilt onto him.
Well you missed the part where he wanted to cure himself of drug addiction caused by his boss, and then his other boss fucked with his experiment but Miguel survived with spider powers.
Also he was raised in abusive household.

I’m surprised people didn’t know this was a 2 parter. I’m curious what version Cody got since the digital & cinematic dialogue are so different with meaning in each of them. The Spot was introduced to me from the 90’s animated series & though he was always a tough villain
I like how mature this movie was & how it amazing as ever. Miles was meant to be the prowler because if you go back to the 1st movie you see the colors change from purple & green to red & blue

I like to think that every Peter present took advantage of Miguel’s vague request to “get Spider-Man” to point at each other just to take the piss.

This film is amazing and the story is great but genuinely my favourite part is the animation. I’d much rather this style of animation over anything Pixar is doing right now. It’s genuinely satisfying to look at it. Hope it wins best picture at the Oscars next year.

Really glad I was able to catch this Spider-Verse film on the big screen! I enjoyed all the aspects of the film, like the humor, the plot, the twist, and the many Spider-Man appearances that appeared. I was even inspired to create my own Spider-sona afterwards and above all, Im excited to see how the next part turns out! Thanks Cody!😉👍🏽
Over hour video? Can’t wait to watch your reaction to this movie tonight. Across the spiderverse is definitely one of the best animated movies out there. The characters, music, how it looks, references, everything is just amazing. Very interested to see where the next movie goes, film is beyond incredible. ❤️
My theory is that Prowler Miles will team up with our Miles and travel the Spider-Verse with him and save their dad

As someone who missed the first one in theaters, I'm glad I managed to watch this one in theaters just in time
Fun fact about the Lego place in the Spider-Man movie there’s a Twitter user who makes a lot of movies out of Legos out of trailers and the and the directors became really impressed they reached out to him and ask him if they can do the scene of the Legos
The sequel was amazing plus the animation WOW, and it left me speechless with the open ending, now waiting impatiently for the next movie. I like the shared protagonism of Gwen and Miles, Gwen became one of my fav characters, it really hurt me how it presented her backstory and her loneliness. The plot about the conflict that "being Spiderman is not a matter of fate, but of choice" is shocking, in addition to the idea that Miguel has that "being Spiderman is a sacrifice", although he does it to protect the multiverse.. It hurt me a lot how the Spidersociety turned their back on Miles, if they are supposed to be the good guys. And the Spot is a great villain, or rather a nemesis: going from a joke villain to one that is definitely terrifying by having the power of the multiverse in the palm of his hand
This has gotta be one of the only movies ive ever seen where every single characters perspective isnt stupid and has good or decent reasoning

Just like “Avengers: Infinity War”… all over again. The following question: How can they save the world? How can they stop the villains? And what are they going to do now? Let’s find out the next sequel
Just some really neat detail I wanna mention (which I didn't notice myself at first and read about it somewhere later tbh but wanted to share anyway because it's so awesome)
In the ITSV when the original Peter Parker saved Miles during the battle with Green Goblin, they "felt" each other and before Miles' background changed to traditional Spider-Man colors (red and blue), it was green and purple which, as far as I'm concerned, are the main colors of Prowler in comics
And that probably hints at the fact that without spider's bite our Miles would've become Prowler instead of the one from 42 universe
Of course, it's all up to interpretation until second part comes out, but man, the attention to details in these movies is insane

You were asking (when Miguel said Miles wasn't supposed to be Spider-man) who was he supposed to be, well now you know, he was supposed to be the Prowler. And if you go back to Miles's first encounter with his Peter (from his universe, the blond one) in the first movie, when they recognize each other as spider-people, you can actually see that Peter spider-sense thingy are red and blue right away, where Miles's one are green and purple (Prowler's colors) at first and then switch to red and blue. Those movies have so many hidden details like that it's insane.
The ending of the movie reminds me of avengers infinity war pirates of the Caribbean dead men’s chest and sonic prime season 2
I love that we can understand both Miguel and miles which makes the story more interesting because you know miles can’t let his dad die but the also could make things worse

My eyes felt like they exploded in theater there was SO MUCH happening it was actively absurd. I realized the Prowler reveal the moment I saw Miles put on green and purple. I just shook. This is a well planned likely trilogy.
Also Miguel is AMAZING and I love him as crazy as he is. My friend fell for him HARD because he was so hot. It was hilarious.

When I first saw Miguel's backstory and the destruction of the other universe, I immediately thought that this was an incursion that the Illuminati were warning about in Doctor Strange MoM
Miguel caused an incursion and with everything that's been happening in the movies and tv shows shows that the Marvel multiverse is slowly dying which will lead to Secret Wars and Kang

If I had a nickel for every time a movie with Spider-Verse animation, music composed by Daniel Pemberton, and made by a studio that made an awful 2017 animated movie came out the same month as a Warner Bros. movie based on one of their most iconic franchises that recieved a lot of hate and boycotts due to a horrible person involved with it, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?

The part 2 of this film is going to be called Beyond the Spider Verse. It’s planned to come out some time next year but with the writers strike that’s going on, it could end up being delayed until the year 2025.

Miguel-928B (reluctantly) let Gwen-65B go to Earth-1610B to capture Spot-1610B so he could be contained and stopped from doing further damage to the Multiverse. Gwen used that opportunity to visit Miles-1610B, but in doing so missed her opportunity to catch Spot. Miguel gave her explicit instructions *_not_* to see Miles, because of what Miles is. What Miguel was referring to when he said "you didn't catch him" was during the end of the chase, when Miles said his goodbyes and jumped off the elevator tram.
Miles-42 was supposed to be the Spider-Man of Earth-42; but because Dr. Johnathon-1610B happened to bring the Earth-42 Spider over to 1610B, he never did. With no Spider-Man to protect Earth-42's New York, Capt. Jefferson-42 was killed on duty and left Miles in the care of his mother, Rio-42, and his Uncle Aaron-42; and would eventually become the Prowler by inheriting the title and cowl from his Uncle. Miles-1610B was supposed to become the Prowler of Earth-1610B, inheriting it from his Uncle, Aaron-1610B; but because he was bitten by the Earth-42 Spider, he never did. With Miles being accidentally involved in Kingpin-1610B's Collider plan, Aaron wound up killed by Kingpin, becoming the first martyr for Miles' journey as Spider-Man.

I'm pretty speechless from this movie too, Cody!!! This movie was insane, emotional, powerful, funny, and scary because of Spider-Man 2099, The Spot, and the cliffhanger ending here with Miles Morales as the Prowler in that dimension, I can't wait to see what the next movie is going to bring! I loved it, and I want to watch it again and again and again! It definitely surpasses and exceeds all previous Spider-Man movies as taking the number one spot as the best Spider-Man movie in history!
Cody I don’t know what to expect when Beyond The Spider Verse comes out
Gwen's dad quitting his job totally breaks all canon and her universe is still fine.
These different dimensions have some connections and similarities maybe through magic but in the end you can make a difference by willpower. There wouldn't be room for endless variants of yourself if the multiverse wasn't infinite.
There must be dimensions where those canon events didn't occur and therefore there's no marks in their system.
I doubt Miguel is aware of literally every dimension that has a spider-person in it.

Spider-Man 2099 is my personal favorite Spider-Man. Don’t get me wrong, I like them all in general, but Miguel O’ Hara is my personal favorite one.

One detail to look out for on a rewatch: During the Spot's backstory, when he's talking about the spider he brought from another dimension, you can actually see Earth 42 Miles in the background before the Spider is taken to our Miles' universe.

Spider-man is known for being the most childish and funny hero, but if you think about it he is actually the hero with the saddest story and life
The only way Miles and Gwen could be together without being depended on the watch is if they can transport through universes using magic instead of technology as it prevents glitching because it's more "natural" way. This is actually just a fan theory but very good one as well, as it explains No Way Home.
My theory in the other hand is that the watch couldn't protect you forever, so it would eventually be useless if you stayed for too long.
