  • Most FPS games these days test your movement, and your aim. Ready or Not, is a game focused around SWAT operations, and tests you in different ways across many different types of levels. So how realistic is the game? Just how many guns are in the game? And is Ready or Not, worth buying?

"Is that a knife?", "Is that a gun?", "Should I shoot?" - me after bagging evidences and that methhead with a Mozambique already 3 seconds earlier.
I love those moments the game likes to throw you off by body language associated with the reactions that would occur in the situation. That time I capped her gun-toting roommate, a methhead went from raising knife to tossing it away with hands above head and motioned to get down and comply, only to pull a not-so-fast-enough one because it's a wee hard to tell if she's going down on her knee or pulling a wild west draw. Only when I finished clearing the room that I had time to process what happened because most of the times you can't afford to stop and think.
But sometimes, you have time to think like when I saw a guy stopped playing dead and get up to pick the gun because he was feeling lucky. Maybe the game encourages you to think about how to reapproach that situation: call for compliance or shoot him right away? People do deserve a second chance or else the game wouldn't incentivize you to arrest them. So I gave him another chance to pick up the gun and aim at me so I could finally paint him red because I had been painting him with IR earlier the whole time and I was feeling confident, strategically and legally. It's a probable cause after all.
No game so far has made me feel so tensely invested when to or not to pull the trigger. And it probably is not good for my mental health since the more I play, the less I'm connected to panics and shocks the game invoke through scenarios and mechanics but more connected direct-wire primally from head to trigger finger. I'm getting excited when shot at more than, getting the first shot out with the latest AI aggressiveness. What I said so far has done more harm to the negative side of "SWAT/Police Sim" around this game narrative pushed around by some.
Highly recommend this game if you either want a tactical horror to scream in live stream or dissociate so hard you're like stone-cold Tier 1 operator COD npc where your teammate gets alarmed by on comms when all you ever emit is "X-ray down", "Tango neutralized" and etc in monotone voices.

Desensitization to stressful situations is a very real phenomenon, and definitely something this game can induce. Getting PTSD with the boys has never been more fun.

      Me: I'm f*cking dead, I got one-tap.
I'm no longer even LARPing as being a SWAT, I'm even LARPing being dead in the line of duty.

Ready or Not was a game I immediately backed up since, having had a long line of family members in the U.S. Army, Police force, or other government job and myself soon to be a part of Special Forces, this was one of the only games, alongside SWAT 4 that could most accurately depict the SWAT or FBI SWAT special units. The tactical shooter genre has really been undermined by stupid COD games or CSGO claiming to be "tactical" when in reality it's just point and click and whoever has the best aim wins, not the best tactics or mindset. That's what made me love RoN, it had a no bullshit standard and actually had a f%cking rationale behind all its mechanics that smart and trained individuals could use.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the game and frankly, it needs more popularity for that, 💪 🇺🇸

Thank you for your videos, the most informative content for this game i've encountered that isn't just a trivia and protocol dump of SWAT procedure or a silent montage, been looking for weapon and equipment reviews
I like the tension this game has, first week of playing and me and the others went from huddled up deathballs of gunfire and bad aim to paranoid wrecks who split up with a plan and decent idea of room clearing, only took a couple dozen deaths each
By far the funniest moments were friendly fire incidents due to bad communication, i got shot to shit by my own team on Neon Tomb because i didn't tell my buddy i'm gonna check the camera room and so I jumpscared him with a peeking-then-kicked door in his face, or a Raid on the hospital when i saw a dark figure with a gun in the end of the hall and i instinctively spun around to shoot it only for it to be my disappointed friend just standing there who apparently just deflected the shotgun blast with his heavy armor and told me to be more careful and to fuck off before walking away

brilliant editing dude. personally, I gotta like the game for its humongous balls to do such controversial topics, for example, school shootings. people might go against it but in reality, that's how it goes, you're sent to whatever to get it done and try to keep everyone safe, whether it's a meth operation or a terrorist attack, in the end, it's your job.
but honestly, we all have to agree that objectively the best feature of this game is the coffee machine.

the way some of their hair looks is hilarious at first, but annoying after a while of playing... I wonder what's causing the NPC's hair to become pixelated and transparent like that... also, I noticed the reflections aren't as good anymore and I wonder if that's something to do with the performance fixes...

May be crazy of me, but I plan to make games like this slow and harsh realistic and unforgiven many will be war but one might stand out and it's ready or not 2 but instead of swat it's civillian protecting themsleves against home invaders yep that's right you'll play as some dude who uses he's second amendment rights against robbers in a game with the same atmosphere as the firstbhopefully I can achieve this one day wish me luck
