phenomenal and talented singers and musicians from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s and even earlier than this, took it for granted, because we were so used to listening to the absolute best the Music industry had to offer, it wasn’t until we started moving into the music of the past few decades that we realize how blessed and fortunate we were to be able to see and hear these artist and musicians in real time, there was nothing like it, and I’m afraid there’ll never be again, go back and enjoy what real MUSIC looks and sounds like, the Music is timeless, as you get older you will not regret the fact that you made this music a part of your life going forward ….

I honestly feel the erasure of real music is calculated. They've even eliminated band class from many public achools. Growing up in the 70s, everybody learned an instrument; there was just a small fee for renting the instrument. I recall at least 2 neighborhood teen bands. Now there's nothing.

Leela is one of my favorite artists since I first heard this song when it was released, so I knew Ashley would love it because Leela was saying what Ashley is saying now. Leela mentioned Gladys, Tina (or Teena?) & Chaka Khan, and Marvin and Donny , those are just 5 of the many great artists we had and yes we took it for granted , cause it was the standard that you had to have great talent back then, and sing from your soul. As a 62 year old, I love and appreciate young artists like Leela, but younger people don’t and won’t make her the huge star that she should be , even after 20 years of this song being released…I guess they didn’t hear the message in this song..so sad (RIP Tina Turner, Teena Marie, Marvin Gaye , and Donny Hathaway 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💐💐💐💐🎤🎤🎤🎤)
The soul is definitely gone. The BET awards was an example of how far the music, and so called "artists" have fallen! Thank you Ashley for helping for helping to introduce it to today's generation! Leela James is a true old school artist! A power packed dynamo who can blow!!!! If good things come in small packages was a person! 💯
