I've been playing around with my 2018 iPad Pro and Apple's Trackpad accessory with the new iPadOS 13.4 update that brought advanced mouse and cursor support and... I'm loving it! Wouldn’t it be cool if Apple made it possible for the iPhone to have a “track pad” mode for when you’re on the go and already have your iPad and iPhone with you

I agree with Chris on using the trackpad over the mouse. I love Apple trackpads, I just went out and bought the space gray one for a stupid amount of money just to match my iPad Pro. Even though I already have one of the white ones for my Mac. Trackpad support is a game changer and is steller on iPadOS 13.4. It is a massive upgrade over the prior mouse accessibility option we had. I did turn off the “Pointer Animations” in the Accessibility / Pointer Control menu as they were driving me crazy. I couldn’t get used to them and it was slowing me down.
To make slide over app pop out all you have to do is move the cursor to the right edge of the screen and keep going (further to the right) until it pops out. It will only work if you are in an other app, not while you are on the home screen
When will Apple finally adjust the screen size on 16:9 external monitors?😢
Maybe that might be something we see at WWDC this year.

Probably when they unlock display extension and multi monitor support now that they have mouse support. With only touch, you were stuck with mirroring. I'm hoping this shows up in iPadOS 14.

I know people using a 32” TV as ipad external monitor, after change the ratio of the TV, it works perfectly.
I find the trackpad so big, cant wait to see the usability of the magics keyboard trackpad since it size is smaller
Quick question have you ever used a MacBook??? Cus if you have , you easily get used to the big size and cannot go back to small trackpads. That’s why apple trackpads are the best ever made especially if you use gestures

Early morning decision: school work or dailytekk video oh what will I choose to do
I never used trackpads, even on laptops, before buying my first Mac computer, which was a late 2015 27" iMac. I figured what the hell and bought the trackpad and mouse combo with it (I was already spending $3800 after applecare, so what the hell was another $100 at that point). I first tried the trackpad. Next, I triieee...actually no, I never tried the mouse. I have a nearly five year old magic mouse 2 that has never been opened or plugged in or even charged. That's how much I freaking love the trackpad with MacOS. And I'm sure with the iPad it is just as awesome.
This video took like 3 minutes to actually start going.

Steve Jobs was right about a stylus being silly for a little 3.5 inch phone. It made sense to change everything with the multi touch system they created for a small device like that. Times change, tablets come into existence, a stylus makes a lot more sense as a tool you can use on a much larger screen. It’s funny that when Apple waits until the time is right to do something, they are criticized for lagging behind. Then when they implement it, they are accused of copying.
It’s like USB-C on iPhones. Everyone is complaining that it isn’t out yet and making fun of Apple, but then when it finally arrives, you will have a good portion of the internet saying that they only did it to charge you more for different accessories. No company is hit with the double standard harder than Apple.
I’ll love to see a similar video using the Magic Mouse.
Why is there a mouse, and an $200 Apple 🖊? I-personally think people need to let go of this whole “trying to turn the iPad into a laptop” thing.
@@SeanBrown23 not everyone can afford a MacBook, and slot of people (including me) don’t want something limited to having a keyboard attached. I use my iPad as a replacement for sheet music. You can’t just set a MacBook on a music stand lmao. I love my 12.9 inch M1 iPad Pro. One of the best purchases I have ever made. I use it with the Smart Keyboard folio and the Magic Trackpad 2. And I genuinely like using it more than my MacBook (granted my MacBook is older but still). I love the way apple is treating the iPad. Having the option of having a near laptop experience. Or tablet experience. Its not forcing you to use it as a laptop, its giving the option.

Just order my first iPad Pro since my iPad 3. Yes, you read that right. I’m pretty excited. I wavered first a while against refurb 2018 vs new. Said F it. Got the keyboard and pencil too. Went with the 11” because I travel for work and sit on the couch a lot. Dat portability life.
Chris, I think you should start a training class on Notion. I really want to get to know the app and your enthusiasm would be great in teaching the subject . . . please consider. I would pay for a class like that.

One thing I’d really like to see is a gesture to invoke widgets from anywhere. Even a split view option with widgets. I don’t want to have to go to the home screen to access them.

Hmmm... wonder if Apple will put any thought into integrating some of the changes into OSX. I mean, as intuitive as it has become, it would be just as useful on my MacBook for example. Be cool if they put some thought into it.
Regarding the question on whether Apple, basically, admitted that Microsoft was correct about tablets by adding mouse support to the iPad, there isn’t really a clear cut answer for this question. Adding mouse support is a way of Apple admitting that you can’t do everything you need to do on a computer with a touchscreen. So Microsoft was correct in that aspect. However, Apple proved that Microsoft was wrong about how to make a tablet or a proper 2-in-1. You can say that Apple and Microsoft started at opposite ends and worked towards the middle, but I disagree with that idea.
Drew, from Tailosive Tech says it best about the Surface. The Surface Pro was never a good tablet, and instead of Microsoft improving on the touchscreen optimization of Windows, they basically gave up on it and just made the Surface a laptop with a broken hinge. In contrast, Apple spent the past 10 years making touch as powerful as possible, which culminated in iPadOS, and now Apple can focus on adding laptop features on top the touch-based foundation of iOS. In other words, Apple started with the hardest part of developing a 2-in-1 by developing touch first and now they can breeze through making mouse support better which is pretty easy since it’s been around for decades. Apple’s approach was the proper way, in my opinion.
Overall, Microsoft was correct that mouse support should be included in a tablet to be a 2-in-1, but Apple is correct in the approach of how to make a proper 2-in-1. iPadOS still needs more improvements in order to catch up to Windows and MacOS, but mouse support is a major step toward that direction.

Can we use the trackpad with the iPad Pro 2018
So I think I’m almost done concluding my future iPad Pro purchase ( because I don’t have either one).... instead of purchasing LiDAR now on the new iPad I’ll get the 2018 iPad and then get LiDAR on my iPhone which will be more practical for me right now and if I wanna update to the newer iPad Pro later I can always trade mine in. Just being budget friendly while also logical about what I will get the most value from right now. Lmk what you think Chris !

I didn’t think to convert my iPad into a working school/office device. I already have a MacBoo Pro, so why would it be necessary right? I was wrong. I love that I’ve converted my iPad into a mini desktop and this video just made me purchase the trackpad as I hate having to use my fingers or pencil to reach a placement when I’m typing essays. Fantastic!

I was excited to learn about a BT keyboard that can connect, in turn, to three devices! I had to bring my work computer home and sit it up next to my home computer and buy a USB switch to make my wired keyboard connect to one Mac or the other. I use a trackpad and now I have two BT trackpads next to me. One for each computer. With the keyboard destination problem solved on the keyboard, next I would like to see the trackpad problem solved. In other words, pressing a destination on the keyboard takes the trackpad with it to the other computer. Until then, I'm limited to the USB switch and two trackpads. Unless there's another solution of which I'm not aware.

Can you use the Apple Pencil also on the trackpad, so you can use it like a sort of Wacom tablet?

Did you ever think you'd reach a point where a cursor and mouse/trackpad support would be considered an "innovation" again? This and cursor keys on the keyboard should have always been a thing.
Trackpad is awesome and not so many greasy fingerprints on the screen.
To this day i still don’t see the Apple Pencil as a comparison to a stylus, its just not the same, not once have i used an Apple Pencil to navigate my display

I just want to say I don’t use my iPads screen almost ever. I don’t like touching it. I wanted a MacBook with a touchscreen so i got the iPad with the magic keyboard. I use the cellular option so I’m always connected and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Pretty pricey though at around 1650 all in including tax. 24 months no interest through Verizon though so it’s not too bad. It’s what i got with my first stimulus check lol.

Hello. This is a great video that I sent to my blind friend because voiceover is so useful for him. When he tries to use an Apple Trackpad with his iPad, it seems that Voiceover disables the trackpad interface. Could anyone tell me how to make the Apple Trackpad and Voiceover work together on an iPad?

And one problem I have is that I just bought the iPad Air 4 with a Smart Keyboard folio and at random times it just stops responding. Any advice on how to get it to work all the time.

The video scene at 2:02 is the solution of this problem. Look at the keyboard. Instead of the keys, only mousepad ma be putted at the board. Or keys and mousepad both may putted onto the board with a pretty arrangement designation. Making the keyboard horiZontally or vertically or in both ways as big As possible may so be done. Keyboard should have a mouse connection capablity with itself. Mouse and mousepad- each of them may be connected to each of both keyboard and iPad.

Hey Chris! I’m going to be keeping my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” 1TB but I’m interested in getting a trackpad for it. Do you think I should get a Magic Trackpad 2 or should I wait for the new 2020 Magic Keyboard with Trackpad case? That extra USB-C port is mighty tempting. Thoughts? I’m definitely not going to upgrade the iPad itself, my 2018 model with the A12X Bionic is still a beast I’ve yet to take the full advantage of. I currently have a Smart Keyboard Folio case but I could definitely use a trackpad. Should I go for the new case on the older model? Thanks!

I like to use separate keyboards and mouse or trackpad for my iPad and iMac, because I often bring my iPad into another room. I can’t seem to use my Bluetooth trackpad that is connected to my iPad Air 3 when in sidecar mode, however my Bluetooth keyboard works just fine when using sidecar mode. I find it strange that it works when it is working alone with the iPad but not when using sidecar. Any thoughts?

I cant seem to get any of the swipe functions working at all with the trackpad. Can’t see it in settings either where I am going wrong. Like dragging on safari, pinch and zoom, etc etc

Mouse support, yes, mouse support with this much style and thought? No. External trackpad? No.
Apple did not have the processing power in the iPad for it to replace a laptop, so they waited until the hardware was capable.
Love this with the Magic Mouse 2 but doesn’t work correctly with Magic Mouse 1
