+VanguardOfValor I mean it was also a major toyline of miniaturised vehicles and such so the perspective was kind of obligatory to make it relevant to the toyline. If this is your first exposure to the series then you should really consider checking the games out, they vary in quality but the majority of them are pretty good. Heck codemasters fell so in love with the franchise they produced a spiritual successor called toybox turbos when they couldn't secure the micro machines license anymore.
I’ll never forget the day, I was 8 years old and my best friend handed me his copy of Micro Machines (on the PS2) and said “Im not good at this game and you are. It makes me mad so you can have it” I think that was the most joy I have ever felt in my entire life
I remember starting the one player mode as Spider every time. The AI seemed to get better with each race and I wanted to get him out of the way in the easy races. I have no idea if the different characters had different skill levels. I never did finish it.
Me too! And micro machines PS game was great too. V8! please play that one day. Great to hear other people had the same experience as my and my bro and Arin and Danny had it here. It's so fun once you start messing with the other person.
You know what's surreal about this game is how many times it has been remade. I remember playing this on the NES when I was a kid. When I saw this video, I assumed it was that one, but this appears to be the SNES one. Looking at the Wikipedia article real quick, it's been made for all kinds of systems, including the Genesis, N64, PSP, DS, and even a recent remake for PS4 (I was shocked when I saw it in the store. I also bought it immediately.)! This is the game that won't die. THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE MICRO MACHINES ANYMORE (I don't...think they do..). But it's a fun game, though!
Wow, it has to be the first time they play a game I loved when I was a kid ! I always see people commenting that they're playing their favourite games, now it's my turn. It's also one of the few times I root for Arin in GG VS, for whatever reason.
Omg! I remember this game! Nostalgia hit me like a ton of bricks XD Used to play this game with my brothers all the time when we were kids. This game was tons of fun
This reminds me of Micro Machines V3 for obvious reasons. It was the only PS1 game I ever owned, and I really loved playing it, and I'm glad I can think of it again because of the Grumps. 😊
5:40 "The boat can handle water but the helicopter can't?" You gotta understand Arnulf, they didn't had any skyboats or aquacopters back in the SNES days...
Holy shit!! Another game from my childhood. Fun memories of my dad and middle brother and myself raging against my oldest brother for winning all the races, lol.
Well for like a year the show has been largely dominated by long-running series after long-running series (sonic and the Black Knight, DDLC, LSL, Mario Odyssey, and of course Paper Mario with the longest series watch time in grumps history) so they probably just figured it would be a nice change of pace to have some one-offs for once.
I absolutely LOVE the N64 version of this game. Playing with my brothers makes things so intense. Also I just noticed something. I mean, I could be wrong, but I feel like the N64 doesn't get enough love from the grumps. They play lots of NES and SNES games as well as a random assortment of modern/retro games. Like I don't know it was just a thought. Like maybe a Conker's BFD lets play would be cool. Or DK64, Perfect Dark, Micro Machines *wink*, Diddy Kong Racing, Goldeneye 007, South Park, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Clay Fighters Sculptor's Cut (Really Rare), Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, Pokemon Stadium minigames (1 & 2). I think I'm most definitely trippin but maybe they just haven't played my most favorite games as a kid. Again just a thought.

Going from this to Majora's mask, you can actually tell how much fun Arin is having playing this, but when its Majora's Mask, he doesn't care and doesn't want to be there. Neat.
Ah man, my brother and I were friggin' *addicted* to this game as kids... I likely couldn't count the times I ended up sulking and/or rage quitting because I got my butt royally kicked! Fun times! Thanks for the nostalgia trip n.n
im so glad they love this game. Me and my friend used to play this game such a lot when we were kids. Its so good. Can't wait till they do tanks. I played this as a kid and then I also played micromachiens V3 on Ps1 which is also just as good.
My childhood. We'd get a bunch of friends over, hire a SNES, Micromachines, & Bomberman, and go nuts with 4 player games. We'd be SCREAMING with laughter :D
I used to play the PSOne of MircoMachines and this game has the same characters. Except Cherry was posh British. You guys would love it! It has weapons so you can screw with each other on Mario Kart levels of frustration, even more so with the first place distance concept still at play. Pro tip: use the jump to avoid objects and perform tighter turns. Or to jump on your opponent ^^
Does anyone else see the little robot face on the top of those cars? As soon as I saw that, those micro machines started looking more like angry robots and now I can't shake it :P
I remember playing this with 4 friends and we where all sat real close to the TV because the controller wires weren't long enough... I want to get a Megadrive so can play all the great games of my childhood again.
I have two early memories of playing Sega Genesis/Megadrive. In my first memory, I thought the volume was too loud when someone (probably my brother) was playing Sonic. So instead of actually asking people to turn the volume down or using a remote... I stuffed polystyrene from the box the console came in into my ears. I had to be driven to hospital to have it all removed afterwards. In my second memory, my brother kept on beating me at Micro Machines, so I hit him hard and repeatedly with the controller. Ah, good memories. :')
Aw yeah. Friend and I used to play the hell out of Micro Machines V3 on PC, as well. Good times. It's rare for a racing game to completely avoid the feeling of being so far behind that it's impossible to catch up, and you're just along for the ride for the next minute or two, and if your opponent really *is* that much better, the race will be over before you've even done a lap. That's kind game design!
This was like one of the best driving games for the NES. Never mind being one of the best 'illegal' games for that console. It pulled off things that it seemed like the NES shouldn't have been able to do. Not sure what console this version is for. (S-NES. It was eventually said.) Not quite the same, as I noticed a couple graphic extras and that sound track is certainly more advanced. Then, I've seen a version of the franchise for the PlayStation. That one seems like it did not keep up with the times.
6:24 *Dan and Arin grunting for awhile... Arin: What?? What happened?? Dan: I think we got blown by something... Arin: Dat's a load of... Ohhhh, I think we were next to a fan or something like that. I have some Micro Machines somewhere in the garage and I used to have a playset shaped like a car battery that I got from a yard sale when I was younger.
This is actually a pretty clever way to handle a racing game with a large map without having to support split screen on this early hardware.
VanguardOfValor seems like a horrid idea. Racing games are all about flow and speed. This breaks the pace constantly
I don't necessarily think it's a good racing game (since I've never played it), but it's definitely an interesting solution to the technical problem.
I dunno. When I played it as a kid I thought it was just fine. If no one falls behind then you've got your flow and speed.
It's kinda the same idea as Speedrunners if you know about it
+VanguardOfValor I mean it was also a major toyline of miniaturised vehicles and such so the perspective was kind of obligatory to make it relevant to the toyline. Arin: "You gotta watch out for the sprinkler."
Also Arin: **Flies directly into the sprinkler**
I used to play this game all the time with my friends. We would use the super speed cheats and die laughing. Great fucking memories.

Just got this game a few months back and I love playing it. I had so many micro machine cars and planes as a kid too. Played with them all the time.
Holy shit... This game was my childhood!
I cant believe Arin didnt do an opening as the Micro Machines guy. I use to love those commercials so much as a kid
Oh my god yes! haha, I loves micro machines growing up! :D

Whenever they do GameGrumps VS I am *always* rooting for Dan. I don't know why.
I dunno why I found Dan's slug death scream so funny but it's been 2 minutes since the episode ended and I'm still laughing about it.
does that count as beat boxing at 5:27 if so we back to zero
I can't believe neither of them have played a Micro Machines game before. This is gonna be a great series.
"Uh oh. Ohhhh. That's a smart move. That's a smart move. Too bad it wasn't-MMMM-AS SMART AS GOOD DRIVING!" 😂

This has been quite enjoyable. Please play this for at least another episode.
So many one-offs and short series lately... I wonder what's in the works...
Glenn Lewis they are on a month vacation so they filmed a bunch of shit to fill the gap

kyle hux good point
Vgamer311 also a good point
The long series are being ground down into bite sized series, they are slowly migrating to liquid game grumps.
Loved renting this game as a kid. Never noticed the innuendo at the top of the screen @6:55 before, though.

it's hilarious how often they remember moments and talk about them, much like the compliations.
