Extreme circumstances are becoming more commonplace unfortunately. I feel the need to get some form of protection because of where i live. I live alone. I pray over my home, my property, and i know God is my provider and comforter. I do not live in fear but feel i need to be prepared for anything. Im glad to have 2A rights. I would not hesitate to protect myself or my home.

I think both of y'all did a great job of giving direction, without drawing hard lines in the sand. Marv is my brother and pastor and can say for a fact.... There's a lot of wisdom above that beard!
There is a huge difference in dying for the gospel, and using deadly force in the defense of someone else or yourself against a criminal aggressor. Conflating the two leads to a misinterpretation of Scripture. I carry a gun daily and I can say I am never tempted to use it to take a life. I would hate to ever have to use it to take a life, but what I would hate more is not having it and knowing I could have saved the life of one of my family members or even a complete stranger against a criminal aggressor. I believe it is my God given responsibility especially as a father and husband to protect. Erroring in the side of non aggression may have you erroring on the sinful side. We cannot say they are both equally good. We have to look at scripture carefully and see what the Bible tells us.
Wow! God works in amazing ways! Just Saturday and today me and my best friend were talking about the Amish and where and why they do and love the way they do! And here I got it explained thank y'all so much! Opened my eyes to help me better understand the Amish! Also I love Marvs Dutch language! That's so flipping cool! With regards to the first question, I've always wondered about something. If we listen to what most folks say and observe how most folks act, it's as if death is the worst thing that can happen to us. As Christians, though, the death of our human body is what gets us to our eternal home faster (think of Paul's mindset about death). I'm not saying we should try to make it happen sooner. There's no glory in pursuing an early death. I'm saying that I think we need to loosen our grip on this life A LOT. This was never supposed to be home. This is just the place where we determine if we want to be a follower of God or not. I'm definitely not saying that I've arrived at the right mindset about life and death, but I do actively work to make sure my mindset matches what's depicted in God's Word regarding who we are to be, Whose we are, and where we consider home.
In Micah 4:3 & Joel 3:10; & Isaiah 2:4 where prophesy describes weapons are remade into plowshares, when I told my So. Baptist Sunday School class (adults) that this refers to disarming, in one voice they loudly protested. I know they were thinking in the moment, being a section of the country that strongly defends the second amendment! BTW; I LOVED the prospective of your guest today. What wisdom!
Think seriously about this: John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Does that mean if you walk into your home and an evil person is attempting to kill your wife, you say, "Kill me and let my wife be." I think not. You give your life doing whatever you can to save your wife. Christ was the ultimate example of this love dying on the cross for all people!!!
Please tell me that he is not that disconnected and disillusioned! If some one is breaking into a house to kill people the average person is not equipped to just talk them down then share Jesus. And the people are equipped to defend their homes he said they have a heart problem. That wasn’t good! And to think he could shoot someone in the knee! Law enforcement doesn’t even train on that because it’s such a small circumference. Grangers holy huddle much be so tight he has forgotten we are still on earth!
I've been big into verse by verse ministry Stephen Armstrong his take on Revelations Watching his Luke chapter 6 take makes since to me. Some laws are broken for the greater good.
FYI: Menonites are supposed to stay pacifistic. Earl Dibbles, Jr. Don’t Tread On Me is not a song that perpetuates that. Possibly: Harmful to the faith.
" And we know that the for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." *Romans8.28* The Lord truly works in mysterious ways!
My parents were raised amish and left when i was 2. I would say most amish don't believe in salvation. Their belief is heavily based on what their fathers taught.
Thou shalt not murder! To kill in defense is forgivable, if it's premeditated, say you came home and found your family dead and went and found the murderer and took their life, you are just as guilty as they were. Wouldn't be conflicted if I was in the situation, God willing neither of us will ever have to face such circumstances. God bless.

I can't imagine taking a life to save another, but It has its purpose. Life is beautiful. Some people just dont value it.
