For tsukemen, you can use chicken or beef instead of the pork :)
Hi! I am just a random teenager from Singapore and I really love this channel! I found it a few years ago and this is the very first video I watched! This channel is somehow better than other Japanese cooking channels as the instructions are much more precise and the recipes aren’t very complicated. I’ve tried a few out and they are really delicious! This tsukemen soup is really tangy, savoury and refreshing! I really miss Francis now that he isn’t around anymore, but I hope the creator of Cooking With Dog and chef will remain healthy and continue to share more delicious recipes! Take care!!!
God I'm stupid sometimes, I have watched many cooking with dog recipes and ive only just realised the point of this channel is the dogs the narrator!!
you're not alone:(
lol very true, but I was particularly slow in this case :-)
+MaZEEZaM FUCK YOU'RE RIGHT
Oh God you have enlightened me! X''''''''D
The dog has a very heavy accent. I have a hard time understanding him; good thing the recipe is listed.
We tried the recipe. It was delicious. The vinegar really brought together all the flavors.
I love how neat and clean she is when cooking.
A great chef always has their mise en place.
I have to get good at not being a mess in the kitchen lol
i remember that naruto episode when he went to ichiraku to eat ramen but turned out it has changed into a tsukemen only place lol :"D he dumped the noodles into the broth and ate it like ramen tho
that's literally the reason im here. i just watched that clip.
the reason I'm here 😅
Count me in, I saw that episode and immediately had to search for Tsukemen and ended up here lol 😆
lmaooo same, it's also why am here 😂

I already needed a day to figure out how tsukemen is spelled :')
Wait, youre the same guy from the other comment section
Made it for my family, definetely as good as Joey described it!
japanese cuisine is awsome !! such a wonderful nation !!!
when I was in Japan, tsukemen was my favorite Japanese noodle dish. I missed it so much I tried this recipe! my American husband absolutely LOVED this! I think it's sooo good too! I skipped the vinegar and the sake though and kept the garlic in the pot throughout the cooking time, still 10/10!!
It's 11:59 at night and I'm watching a cooking show....

She was struck by a car while riding a bicycle, and spent quite a long time in the hospital and then undergoing recovery. Fortunately, she has uploaded a few new videos lately appears to have bounced back, thank goodness. Watching Cooking with Dog always brightens my day.
Tsukemen is awesome...so rich
When it comes to Japanese home cooking these are among the finest! Thank you, Francis and Nice Lady!
R.I.P Francis. You will be missed ;-;
I have all the ingredients and a lot of Japanese cookware... sometimes when I'm setting out to cook something I think of Francis! I think "I have everything but the dog"! There are several things I say where I sound like Francis, like "dashi soup".... I really enjoy this channel, just learned a few things here.
i remembered watching this video 10 yrs ago while living in Shenzhen, China. Thank you for all the wonderful videos.
OMG THIS LADY IS SO ADORABLE
i love how she tests the flavor of the broth. pours a bit into a shallow bowl and drinks it with both hands. so cool.
Quickly cooling down the noodles in ice water will increase the refreshing texture :)
once i finish college im moving to japan and i know this channel is going to save my life since i dont have a lot of cooking experience.... thank you cooking with dog
I did it and it was freakin' delicious!!! =DDD
ive been watching her videos for hours today and i have to say they relaxed me quite a bit. im glad shes been doing well since her accident c :
You can freeze mushrooms!? I did not know this. It is rare for me to find certain types of mushrooms where I live. I am going to start freezing them so that I have them when I want them. Thank you so much for the tip!
Francis the dog has the most admirable patience and dicipline
i am watching this at work and i havent eaten for now almost 18 hours
+Michael Tau (MrTau) You need to make time to eat, Michael.
That is far too long without caloric intake. Some doctors say long periods of unintentional fasting is a more likely cause of blood sugar disorders like diabetes than bad foods.
i had a headache before i came to this video...
and now i'm all better. i guess the music and watching the food cook is just that soothing. thank you, francis and crew. :)
WHY CANT SHE BE MY GRANDMA!!!!
How could you dislike a video of a kind-looking mom cooking with her dog narrating the whole video?
this looks delicious! its such a shame i don't eat pork though ):
use shrimp or thing beef slices
Chicken would be my next choice.
Thin beef and chicken should work
I made this recipe for Tsukemen last night. Thank you for the instructions, Francis!
I used fresh somen noodles as my Korean shop doesn't have fresh ramen. I used chili powder instead of chili pepper rings. It was a delicious meal!
I made 1.5x the amount of broth (and a bit more mushrooms, and a 2nd long green onion), which was the perfect amount for myself and my husband after a long day.
Does anyone have any recommended substitutions for the meat? I really want to make this for my family, but my husband is Jewish and cannot eat pork :/
+Salem Ravencroft i'd go with any crustacean. shrimp probably the easiest. the shells will give you that depth of flavor you want in a good broth.
He can't have shellfish, either T_T I appreciate the suggestion, though
+Salem Ravencroft you could easily do beef (thin slices, like the pork belly in the video)!
Ah cool great thanks!
+Salem Ravencroft you can substitute any meat you want, it just has to be very thin meat. like the kind used for cheesesteaks.
Just cooked and ate this! It was soooo good, I had to share it with my family. :D The cold noodles were good for a hot summer day here, and the soup was tangy and delicious ~
It's just hard to satisfy those people. When there are subtitles available, they're too lazy to read them and complain about the accent. If there were no subtitles available and the video were all in Japanese, they'd complain and ask for subtitles.
Sempre que assisto seus vídeos, observo seu carinho ao cozinhar...caprichosa....ótimo vídeo... abraços
I made soft boiled eggs tonight, that turned out terrible. How do you make yours??
boil your water, and when its boiling, put the eggs in for about 5 minutes. take them out and put them in freezing/cold water. then peel them. the inside should be a little liquid still. thats how i make them :)
Thanks!! I'll try it :)
Lara May Another trick is to poke a small hole with a thumb tack on the fat end of the egg. This prevents the egg from cracking.
another way is to put the eggs in the water and turn off the water when it begins to boil. wait for 10 min or so.
But it's best to go with the way iSugarRushO suggested
Thanks all! I couldn't seem to get them so that the yolk still ran.

Francis the dog runs the show! fantastic noodles recipes i ever come across! Arigato!
it tasted very much like soy sauce maybe I'll put less in next time. I kept wanting some lemon or lime with it though.
Francis the dog is a stud! How lucky is he, with all that delicious food? Thank you for another fantastic recipe.
Is pork belly just bacon?
no. its the same cut, but bacon is processed with spices and other stuff.
I made this yesterday and was great, my husband was loved it... thank you!
Hmmm... does it have to be chicken stock powder? Why not using real chicken broth? I’m asking because I’m very allergic to MSG😩
Eryn Kwon Of course you can use real chicken stock❣️😋🍜
Eryn Kwon Of course you can use real chicken stock❣️😋🍜
@@cookingwithdog I was also going to ask this, thank you for clarifying
one of the best dishes i have ever tasted, no exaggeration! you did it again chef!!

Made this today for my family. Everyone loved it.
So, trash taste brought u here ?
I suppose
LOL, old fashioned accent. Love it!
I finally went out and got the ingredients for some of their dishes. Gonna start cooking tomorrow!
The dog is fucking sedated.
+2014andBeyonD sure hope not
how can you tell?
no he's just gettin older. or he's a very docile dog.
+Jiggly Anderson Or both.
delicious! I made this tonight, I added a tbsp of sugar though to cut some of the bite from the vinegar and garnished with grated ginger and garlic.
I made this tonight! It came out pretty good for my first time making it. I might have overcooked the pork a little bit(pork is so easy to overcook, ugh) but everything tasted really good! Getting all the ingredients was pretty easy too!
I made it today but use udon instead of ramen noodle. At first I couldn't imagine the taste but it turned out so yummy!
Thanks as always.
i was looking up how to make shimejis (the little mascots that just walk around on your screen) and somehow this was the video at the top of the youtube search results. can't complain, this is a banger recipe and will do this next week perhaps. thank you cooking with dog for this 11 year old video
Glad to hear you like our Tsukemen video!🍜 Hope you enjoy it😋
I love all these references... Japan is so cool!
I make this at least once a month. It's amazing. Finding the right noodles is hard, but if you get real ramen, it's super good.
Francis is so expressive! He so wants this dish!!!! Corie in Seattle
I love your Tsukemen video, so easy to understand and so concise. I pray Francis is getting well soon. We miss her. THis soup looks so delicious. I will make it SOON! Thank you so much.
It's so nice to see the respect in these comments compared to things like technology videos. It's like 2 different worlds on RUclips
I made this today and because my sister doesn't eat red meat either, I used chicken filés instead of pork. I can say it was really good too :)
Thank you for teaching us how to make food so delicious and easy to make.
Sounds delicious. I'm going to have to give this a shot the next chance I get.
You too! Honestly, I expected you to rant at me . The fact that you recognized your own cognitive pattern and learned from it is pretty cool. Honestly, I want a pet pig (one of the cute teacup ones that lives for a really long time) but I'd feel really guilty about having pork chops for breakfast.
I like the background music. :) She made it very easy and neat cooking!
i like how the chef doesn't touch the dog at all when she's cooking. proper.
I watch these videos and get so excited to cook awesome Japanese things and then I usually just go spend three minutes making ramen...
I bought the thing that's "Coming Soon" in a bakery in Fukuoka today. It's tasty!
I'm addicted to these videos
It is ½ tbsp (tablespoon) chicken stock powder. Thank you for pointing it out m(_ _)m
I tried to make this, and it turned out delicious!
That's why there's subtitles....? Plus his english is okay. I find it pretty impressive that he knows English and Japanese.
I wish I could live with Francis and Chef so I could have delicious home cooked Japanese food all day
i went to namba Mall in Osaka and they had kind of thick Noodles, more like Udon than ramen, with the tastiest Broth and super tender Meat. Best Tsukemen i have ever had.
This changed my life! I was constantly throwing away mushrooms, because they come in container sizes that are too much for one meal. I had no idea you could freeze them!
@thelumbahjack In Japan they call the foam "aku", which is basically coagulated blood/proteins/etc. They skim it off because it brings a harsh and bitter taste to the broth, along with a slimy consistency. Japanese cuisine also values clarity in all of their broths, especially in Kaiseki cuisine.
Just tried this today. It was gorgeous, salty and flavourful.
Couldnt find thin slices of pork belly so had to use thick pork belly which was chunky instead. Pork belly was really fatty and delicious.
i shall practice using both hands when dropping in ingredients in a bowl/pot! what will i do without this channel
I really like the bowl. I must have one.
get to spend 3 nights in Tokyo looking forward to trying this at some of the actual Restaurants in Tokyo
OMG!! I definitely must try this, it looks soooo yummy. My mouth's watering like the Niagara falls.
OH YES OH YES OH YES~
OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT RECIPE!
i wish she'd invite me for dinner tonight... Thanks for uploading this vid!!!
I'm so glad I found your channel (since like last year) but none the less I'm extremely happy to be subscribed to your channel (: Thank you. -Greetings from California
This looks so good! All of your food looks very tasty. You should open a restaurant you would be one of the best
I live in Lakeland, Florida, and I usually go to an Oriental supermarket to buy ingredients to make these delicious dishes ^^.
@ttiiyy It's amazing. Japanese noodle recipes are very rarely oily. Maybe it's a recipe I don't know or maybe the cook was Chinese (tricky).
Thank you for teaching me that mushrooms can be frozen!!! Never again will I waste them.
Im happy i can always revisit this gem of a recipe, we watched years back. Its nostalgic, and very useful when we want some reliable Japanese cuisine recipe. Not like today, when i search, and the latest, most viewed indian youtuber cooking their version of vegetarian Japanese food in hindi, is shown. No offence, somethings sometimes feel right when watched, and some dont ❤
Stay safe chef and family. Miss you Francis
This recipe looks delicious... I have to make it
ありがとうございました。
I have just tried it and it is delicious-I definitely recommend this recipe!
thank you!
It really adds to the flavor and if you cook it long enough the alcohol evaporates so it is not a problem.
Really like this one!!
I have made this one many times and enjoyed every time!!!(especially in summer)
Thanks!!!!

I'm so making this next weekend when I have the time. Woohoo!
If you watch the PBS series "Mind Chef" in the first season David Chang goes to the Tokyo restaurant where Tsukemen was "invented". Its so awesome :D
Every time he said it, it made my eye twitch. "Su-cayman."
Just have to love the chef
このお母さん本当好き!
Very tasty, thanks. I used chicken and udon instead though as i didn't have pork to hand.
I just made this and it was good. Taste almost like restaurant-made shoyu ramen.
"Stir-fry the fatty pork belly slices"
I love it when he says that, makes me giggle a bit ^^
Love the show! Thanks a lot for uploading all these videos! :D
Francis is so adorable! I'm gonna try this out tonight (even though I don't have Ginger)
