What a great performance from The Amboy Dukes, thanks for posting this vid. With the likes of who gets inducted these days to the RRHOF, Uncle Ted's exclusion doesn't hold a hill of beans to his talent and importance to rock and roll. Who needs the Hall anyway. The guy doesn't take himself too seriously and has a hilarious sense of humor where he says things that are purposefully hyperbolic or exaggerated. For some people that goes straight over their head. He's a passionate dude with crazy every who loves having fun and joking around. Crazy laid back and friendly. If you see him at a guitar convention stop by and say hi. I did and he'll pull you aside and shoot the shit for a long time. He's always got time for fans and chatting if you share any passions with him like hunting, guitars, etc. The dude gets off on interacting with his fans and putting on a good show and having fun. Never seen him in a bad mood after he gets off stage.

I still think he s a terrific musician and I love his music and guitar playing but a lot of this man s views are impossible to bear with and at times just straight out outrageous. But we have to learn to separate the art from the artist.

@Ridendrty Ted's a Patriot, to be sure, and a guitar slayer. The only thing we disagree about is how patriotic can one be who cares so little about so many good people who don't think like you? You can not be a solid patriot when you dismiss the lives of fellow Patriots who aren't Christian, gun loving, heterosexual wildlife hunters.

Saw him in Greensburg, PA and Clearfield Co Fair, PA and his farewell tour has as much energy as the first few times I ever saw him!! Then there's our mutual love of 10mm handguns and grilled venison tenderloin......all fun as well!!

I used to walk by Ted's house (in Detroit) on my way to elementary school. Even then, he was known to be a wild man for using lighter fluid to set fire to his slot car tracks. Allegedly.
Years later I worked with a keyboardist who played, early on, with both Ted and Bob Seger. He said Seger was a much better songwriter and Ted was a much better musician.

Ted's mom was a lunch lady in a local grade school in Palatine, Ill.and in 1964 he had a Sears Silvertone amp and I had a Teisco guitar and we played with his tremolo and reverb. We both moved away and I havent seen him since, but he may have been the first person I knew who later became famous. I also met Hillary Rodham that year.
Sometime I need to put these stories in one place.
