"Gotta have more cowbell," Classic SNL sketch. An absolute must view.
Totes
Let’s just get it out there. The BEASTIE BOYS can’t be fucked with. They were just themselves. That was their saving grace. They loved all music and it gave them a canvas to paint whatever pictures they wanted. Like in all things, education is key. The fact that they were open to all things music/culture, it gave them the knowledge and willingness to combine, explore, and create. They made music that changed the game across all genres. If someone doesn’t like the beastie boys, they just aren’t credible. ✌🏻❤️
The tapping sound is a cow bell. "I got an open mind so why don't you all get inside" is right up there with "if your life needs correction don't follow my direction" as my favorite BB lyrics.
or "I'm up to my neck like Toulouse-Lautrec" for anyone who dosent get it google Toulouse-Lautrec. It's an all-time lyric once you know.
How about "Im Adam and Im adamant about living large", with the 2 Adams in the group timing it out perfectly saying how their both Adam.
Paul’s Boutique is my ‘desert island’ BBoys album for sure!
1000%
Not my favorite but perfect for a desert island yeah
Another great one. This is from their second album - Paul’s Boutique
The thing about the Beasties is that they were/are a peek into that time. Their whole being... ALL their music, all the lyrics, all the beats, all the videos are ALL topical pop cultural references from our childhood to adolencense.
So while I LOVE that the youth is getting into them, there is so much they you miss out on because you aren't hip to the slang/references. Example. "Like a pinch on the from Mr. Spock." that's a Star Trek reference. or "Like Sam the butcher bringing Alice the meat. Like Fred Flinstone driving around with bald feet"
Sam was the Butcher was a character on the show The Brady Bunch, and Alice is the House Keeper. They kinda had a thing. BUT its a dope play on words, kinda sexy. And of course the Fred Finstone is the main character on a cartoon that we grew up on. He was a caveman and his car was powered by his feet. And this entire video was a play on the disco era and lots of referneces to the movie Saturday Night Fever. EEEEVRYTHING they did was so from a certain era. They are a Time Capsule of Culture. They are the Beatles of Hip Hop.
Seeing you get into it makes me look at the music today and it makes me appreciate this so much more. They really were ahead of their time. Some of there shit is so on another level that a lot of people won't "get it". They'll dig it sonically...but really wont UNDERSTAND it. They are worth the Deep Dive.
Thank you.
Paul's boutique is a banger album this is one of my favorites on it
That cowbell though ..❤️❤️
Awesome work man keep it up 👍👍
"Makin' love in the back of my Coupe DeVille"
"The bass is bumpin' from the back of my Fleetwood"
Beastie Boys loved them some big-ass Cadillacs! Bonus points for the mid 70's Eldorado convertible in this video
Yes! One of my TOP 5s from them:)
love Beastie Boys! 🙏🦋🌈🌞🌻💜
I’ll never forget when this video and album hit. They were too ahead of their time. Trust me, the seventies and disco were NOT COOL at the time - it left us all scratching our heads. This album was kind of a flop - but luckily their career resurged with their next album and everyone went back to Paul’s Boutique and realized it was a masterpiece.
I don't remember Paul's being a flop. All my BBs peeps would say PB is their best album.
@@maine420grow8 It LITERALLY didn't sell. It was panned by critics. The Beastie Boys called it a brick. Now EVERYONE says it's one of the top albums of all time (TIME, VIBE, RS).
@@mismos00 I was following the Dead and Phish around that time and we used to jam PB in the parking lots. I guess I never read any reviews or the like. Funny to hear a dust brothers album tanking. At the same time we were listening to PB you could also count on hearing ODELAY. Those fellas could produce an album.
@@maine420grow8 I was to busy being depressed and listening to grunge music to have time for anything, so called, "fun".
@@maine420grow8 oh it’s now considered their masterpiece. It was not a hit album when it was released at all.
That's my favorite song of theirs ❤
“I’ve got more hits than Sadaharu Oh“ at the beginning of the song is such deep cut reference. He was the Babe Ruth of the Japanese baseball league.
Hell yes! One of the best tracks. Perhaps their most complicated production!
It had an absolute ton of samples in it. They even sampled themselves in it!
EVERY track from Licensed To iLL and Paul’s Boutique are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pure comedy with this video and a great song!
If I was on death row and they gave me one last album To listen to,it would be Paul’s boutique 💯
Clever
pro tip : you can watch series on kaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Gianni Jerry yea, I have been watching on kaldroStream for since november myself :D
i have a Pavlovian response every time I hear a cowbell I have to watch the famous SNL skit w/ Christopher Ealken🤣 Will Farrell has Jimmy Fallon laughing breaking character
I love that you finally did this!!! Also thank you Jed and more importantly, thank you Teez!!! 💜
One of the best in my book
Classic grooving and anther funny video. Love your digging them so well!
Mike D had it rollin' with that look.
Yeah, a second and delayed extra comment on this one.... more had to be said hahaha.
MORE COWBELL!i!i!
I remember seeing this video when I was in elementary school and KNOWING this was FuNkY!i!i!
Didn't fully understand and appreciate this I was just a little older.
Much Love
The lyrics are tight...the crazy things they manage to throw in there.....Sadahara Oh.....Welcome Back Kotter.....Chuck Woolery.......
Thanks Jed for the request and Teez for the reaction. They really did put 100 percent in all of their work be it music, video, even the endless vinyl reissues on color vinyl and big fold out gatefolds. I say it all the time once they set out on their on path they just blazed a trail and if you wanted to join then great if not then great. Thanks for the request and reaction.
Great to hear from you family! Thank you
Cool as hell.🔥🔥🔥
That "tin can" drum sound is a sample from Jeanette "Lady" Day "Come Let Me Love You" (Instrumental). The sample comes from about 1 minute and 10 seconds in. Kind of an obscure 80's female R&B act and song.
... and it's called a Cow Bell. You left out the important part
@@mismos00 are you talking about the same cowbell the show in the video in sync with the sound? Because I thought that was to obvious to say. I referring to a much more interesting part of the song and what i'm quite sure Teez was referencing, the lower in volume rhythmic hitting of what does sound like a tin can and i probably a cowbell but much deeper in the mix. The "most important" part as you call it has already been posted by 20 dolts in the comments so I figured most thinking people would be curious where the cowbell and one of the main drum samples come from. Thanks for your input.
Been waiting for this
I love when I notice Ima bopping my head exactly same as you..... thats when you know they got the beats JUST RIGHT!
Love this one
Yes, guy! Surprised you've not done this one yet. But then again, you've been diving deep and diggin into the B-sides' B-sides, so, not surprised at all... Lol
Anytime I say a sexual innuendo, the chorus cut plays in my head... 😆
I'm gonna need more cowbell 😁
You should listen to Paul's Boutique from beginning to end 😊🙌🏼
Another winner for sure TM. I am revisiting the BB after 30 years and learning they definitely had more going on than I remember from the MTV days. And hey TM I enjoy your reactions and the fact we both appreciate the same things. These guys were a definite phenomenon.
Who could have guessed 3 white jewish guys from NYC could have captured the hip hop vibe of that era so well. And not as a 1 hit wonder but a whole catalog of good music. It defies all the odds in my mind.
This was my anthem the summer before my senior year in high school!
Love me some Beastie Boys!
they spell it Beasty Boyz. Idiot
Sorry, I couldn't help myself
This guy takin notes!
Keep up the great work, Teez! Nailing the formula. Content, Consistency and Cuality.
Props, friend. Stay fresh.
I love the disco
This song thumps hard if you got a car with a nice system in it.
Good stuff!
Their best rapping and most creative songs are on Paul’s boutique
This was the 1st single from the album an wasn’t what people were expecting because people expected fight for your right part 2
You’re right that it wasn’t what we were expecting, but it didn’t help that the seventies fashions and music and dancing were a joke at the time.
@@pebblesanddirt they lost a lot of the pop fans but the album turned out to be a masterpiece just took some time for people to realize it
@@MrCzarGuy1 yes I agree - I mentioned elsewhere here that after their resurgence with Check Your Head, people went back to Paul’s Boutique and discovered what a masterpiece it was
Facts!!! I was dying for them to come out with something new. I absolutely love every song on Paul's Boutique. I agree with Quest Love. I believe he called it their magnum opus. I consider that an expert opinion.
I've never heard this with the underwater sound. My Paul's Boutique CD was well used, it's still my favorite.
Yo man for the free request Friday can you do “3 Minute Rule” by the Beastie Boys!
Giddy up 🎉
Happy Thursday! Hope your weekend's good!
get it
Love the Chuck Woolery reference
Thank you for making me look him up.
@@mismos00 dating women on TV with the help of Chuck Woolery. The good ol dating game.
Always have Beastie Boys and Led Zep in our catalogue . Beastie Boys take at least 2 to 3 years to make an album. No wonder it shows.
sadly their last two Hip Hop albums were more like 6 to 7 years in the making.
What do you mean. I have Vanilla Ice in my cataloge. Doesn't mean I ever listen to him.
@@mismos00 you some type of half wit?
@@anthonyv6962 I'm trying to explain to you in a humourous manner that "having something in your catalogue" just means you have it listed or best case scenario, merely own it. It's not really complimentary. Perhaps you meant to say you have it in rotation or something.
And yes, I'm at LEAST half witty
@@mismos00 I never even claimed to have it in my catalogue, so I'm not sure why I would say I have it in rotation. You working to prove my point.
Country Mike was the next jam
Cowbell homie 😄
More Cowbell!
Music is never done
Lasagna needs attention. And wives. Gtg
Needs more cow-bell...
