Without a doubt it was really difficult, I left in Tinteniac at approximately kilometer 780, I was physically and mentally exhausted, I just wanted to get out of there and rest. It was really hard to make the decision and sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I decided to continue a little longer. Today I think that what I did the least was enjoy the trip, I was very focused on maintaining a rhythm and arriving at the controls on time. I hope to return in the next edition and truly enjoy this adventure.
Perhaps because it was such a long distance and time challenge, the slightest thing could have caused a sudden physical breakdown and I was unable to recover. I hope to really enjoy this adventure again next time.
When I read your story and those of all cyclists around the world, this event is in my opinion better known abroad than in France and is the dream of many enthusiasts. I'm sorry for your abandonment and I hope you come back in 4 years. Thanks to you, I decided to train and give myself the objective of participating in this legendary event.
Thank you for your comment. This event is well known in Japan. But perhaps only among cyclists, in a limited way. In France, especially in "le Bretagne", everyone, from children to elderly people, cheered generously for us, the challengers from abroad. I think that is a wonderful tradition and culture rooted in the region. I will try again in four years. Let's enjoy this legendary event together!
Many thanks for this honest and moving video! I was there with you in August 2023, my first time at PBP. You made me aware of the hardships of this endeavor, which is a journey into your own body and mind. I faced some of the same issues, mainly the difficulties to take in food - a new experience to me. I too felt weak at times, but that went away after sleeping a few hours in the second night, and gladly never returned. Looking back I am still amazed how smooth it went in the end, how I could do PBP with a bike that many would consider totally inappropriate for this hilly course, at a weight of 25 kg with at least an extra 8 kg of luggage. I wish you the best for next time, a safe and happy return in under 90 hours.
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. And I am glad we had the same PBP last summer. With that bike weight, is it a recumbent or a velomobile? I think your smooth ride through PBP is proof that you prepared properly to enjoy this journey. By the way, it was a summer that successfully overturned the Japanese assumption that France, Europe are cooler. Hahaha! I will try again next time. At that time, I will try to reach the goal within 90 hours. With a smile, of course!
@@user_YuuRinEizouRoku there were about 8 or 9 of us from my area. We have quite a few velomobiles here, and we ride in the mountains a lot. So the Brittany hills didn’t concern us in the way they do with riders from flatlands. Most of us are not super athletic, and I found it reassuring that these machines can master a course like that so well over such a distance.
@@user_YuuRinEizouRoku here’s a recent video from riding a velomobile in my area. My channel has plenty of similar videos, including some where I deliberately filmed the entire uphill - because there are so many roadies who tell me these machines were good on level ground but would not get up a mountain. ruclips.net/video/KlvVSgW0Q_Y/видео.htmlsi=02nbDGD1sdTlFbC5
@@user_YuuRinEizouRoku how does this work? Do you need to ride a least 200km to qualified? I have done 1100lm but not an event it’s leasure ride on Taiwan, but I had few past event like 520km… yes I’am looking forward 2027 👍🏽
Basically, you need to complete 200, 300, 400 and 600 km of brevet between November 2026 and mid-June 2027. For detailed rules, contact any cycling club organizing a brevet in your country. It's a tough challenge and I wish you every success.
Important is do not give up
Yes, I agree with you.
I will continue my efforts for the next 4 years.

@@user_YuuRinEizouRoku I was riding a velomobile
Thanks for the answer.
I was very excited to see so many velomobiles at PBP, since there are still so few in Japan!
