A bit late to the party (4th of July) but wasn't planning to publish any of the videos from my trip to the US due to low quality of material/shaky footage but decided to do it anyway (surprise :)).Thoughts on the NOABs? They were ok but it's not something I'd recommend anyone to buy for the price I paid. If you can get them for half the price or less or your are only going for convenience, sure, why not. Otherwise I'd just go with a 24 shot shell kit. Also note, video didn't do the 3" justice, was much better IRL.
I haven't bought any fireworks in the past 2 years because they are just too damn expensive now. Just a few years ago I used to spend $600-$700 and get plenty of smalls to play with for 30-40 minutes before the real show, and then have a 10-15 minute wired show with finale. Now $600 buys me 5 minutes if I'm lucky so screw that...
Buying wholesale, and just at the first price tier, the spread your wings and mind bender are $155 for a 4/1 case. I don't have a price on the Mother of all bombs, but a similar cake is $133 for a 2/1. On the 2 and 3 inch stuff I'm waiting to see prices for the 1.4 pro stuff. 16 shots and they aren't spaced out taking up all that room like the noabs.
I agree, a 60g shell kit will get you MUCH more bang for your buck. However, the upfront cost of buying/building a rack is probably why they make those big 9 shot cakes and sell a ton of them too People just like the convenience. And those shell racks are NOT cheap hahaha. I've got 2 28 tube racks and they were 160 each where I live 😢 but I know over time the cost of them will actually save me money as apposed to buying those big cakes every year.
@GunsCars There's a place I used to go to in my town that upped their prices to more than DOUBLE from previous years, while smaller tents have Excalibur shell kits for 74.99. "Wild Willys" was selling comparable kits for almost 200 fucking dollars!!! I guess the boss man has to keep his profit margins as high as possible to afford his million dollar house and super cars! 😅 This year wasn't too bad, but we are definitely still seeing some inflated prices around here
@@FusionKota buy wholesale if you have a budget of 500 or more American wholesale if you get on the discount tier is cheap I see 500g start at 17 and shell kits I seen for 30
Since last year when I've discovered your channel I've watched every single video you've uploaded and now I'm literally craving when there are weeks in between new uploads😅
Wow! Thank you for your kind words and for watching my videos, means a lot ❤ I'll try to get my sh*t together and start uploading more frequently with higher quality! 🫡
Hey Andy, welcome to the sad firework conditions here in the US. It's been bad since 2020. I haven't fired a good show since and it bums me out this time of year. It's just not affordable anymore. Hopefully someday, firework import costs come back down and you can launch a FULL show for under $2K again. Till then, I'm stuck watching the neighbors ambitious attempts. Thanks for the vid man, take care.
The import prices have fallen, but the companies probably won't lower their prices any time soon since people are still buying them at the inflated prices. Much like many other things unfortunately. Personally, I've always found consumer fireworks to be way overpriced anyway. Too much cardboard, too little power, way to much money. Even at wholesale. 1.3 prices have spoiled me I guess. I can get much bigger and more powerful cakes for half the price of one of these noabs. Hell, a whole case of 3" shells costs $120 or so. There is absolutely no reason a 9-shot "500g" cake should cost what they charge.
I hadn't made a wholesale order or done anything with pyro in years, but 1.4pro got me out of that. Some really good products available, at least until the feds inevitably get involved and ruin everything.
Those last cakes definitely look like pro 3" willow shells. I'm skeptical when I see 3" tubes on the American consumer market as I have seen 2" shells hidden in a 3" cardboard sphere... Would love to see someone take these apart to confirm that these are indeed proper 3" shells 👍
I only bought a few of these in my lifetime, I'd rather buy shells they break lower but harder and way more shoots for less when you buy the case, thanks for demo Andy and hooe you enjoyed your trip here, pyro on pyro
Andy, glad to see you with another video. NOAB and fireworks in general are expensive in the USA. If one takes the time to research firework company’s, what one will find is if purchased wholesale a NOAB like mother of all bombs can be had with tax for $80 dollars buying case. The convenience factor for people here in the States is what costs consumers. What I mean is there are firework places all over, then not taking the time all year to shop around and look for fireworks. The other thing, overseas the choices with bigger fireworks is way better. When getting the proper licenses the bigger fireworks can be purchased in the States. It comes down to how into fireworks an individual is committed. What one is willing to spend, as well. I would like to know how Sweden and other countries sell fireworks to consumers, and say licensing and restrictions are for firing larger aerial shells? Thanks Andy, really enjoy all of your videos.
I always put a few noabs in my consumer finale. Usually whacky tobacky and pyro candy. Nothing breaks as uniform and has a beautiful tail. Moab was really nice.
Back in 2017 I was getting Sharp Shooter by Big Fireworks (twelve shots of 2" tubes) for $80 for a 4/1 case. Most of those places that used to sell twelve shot 2" tube cakes packed 4/1 have reduced the shot count from 12 to 9. Dominator did that with their massive series of cakes. In better news shipping costs from China to the USA have fallen dramatically almost back down to 2018 levels
Wow! That sure is rather significant difference in price. At those levels + the extra shot count, I'd say it would be a no-brainer. Fingers crossed the prices get closer to 2017 levels, even though I doubt that seeing that due to increased cost of production, chemicals etc.
Where did you go in the USA? The availability of good fireworks varies a lot from state to state. Here in CA the fireworks are rather poor quality, unless you have an ATF license and a shoot permit. Always nice to see your videos my friend. Pyro on...
Hey Steve! I was close to the border of Indiana/Ohio, mainly doing my shopping in Indiana. Purchased quite a lot but didn't have time to set it all off. Better planning next year hopefully + teaming up with some companies that does pro shows! :) Hope you are well!

Nice video! Weird to see the prices in the USA, even though they are good cakes they are not worth €90 ($100). For that money you can get better cakes here in Europe 2"F3. Nice to see how the USA is lagging behind with quality, where luckily we have people like Malta Funke Fireworks. The USA can learn something from us (burst/Break) to focus more on the quality 😁. Keep up the good work.
I agree here. I'm surprised many of the items I tried during my trip were of such low quality. But then again, you get spoiled when having brands as Funke. With that said, I do understand that, although rare, Funke also have problems with quality sometimes.
Our laws are to blame, consumer Fireworks are limited to 500 grams per cake and 60 grams per single display shell.... we wish we had more freedom with fireworks
Good to know mind bender is better because I thought they were essentially just different wraps. I’d say they’re worth wholesale price but I’m with you that $10 a shot is a no go.
The American rules on tube separation mean that they are paying more just because of the increased costs of shipping from China. In the UK there is no tube separation in cakes and rarely there are any issues with that. Americans are paying extra for the wasted space in the containers!

I did a show this previous weekend and used two 3" NOABS for the finale. Definitely think it was worth it. But It's a close thing. Too much more expensive and it's just not realistic to use them ever
consumer 1.4 in the US is a rip off. If buying in bulk, can get the cost down to $60 for the MOABs. 1.4pro market is getting better, now being able to get 1000g cakes. I think you would be mostly disappointed in the 1.3 product here as well, a couple places sell YF but at a pretty high cost. I still think YF is worth the premium. YF 4in shells are equivalent to others 6in
This is why I don't buy fireworks. I love them and my kids love them, but 100 a cake is stupid.. even 50 each is nuts! I can buy a TV for the price of one of those cakes, so tell me how they cost that much?
Thanks again for your video my friend. Where were you in the USA? Some states have a much better selection for the $ than others. Most fireworks are not worth the retail price. But the truth is that we true pyros don't really have a solid financial relationship between our hobby and finances. When I was a kid I saved my money all year long and paid whatever it cost to buy what I ”needed". Now that I am much older, I am wondering how many of these shows I have left in me. So I simply pay the silly prices. True Pyros have a very poor sense of monetary judgment when it comes to funding our habits. All I can say pal, is that we only live once. So let's do what we can to make it a good ride. Thanks again Andy. Pyro on!
Dominator has a cake for 39.99 that has 2 inch tube that acts exactly the same has a noab. Why pay 100 plus dollars for a noab if you get almost the same result with a 39 dollar cake.
Unless they are non-consumer fireworks, those things are always a ripoff. Almost never do they actually contain fully filled 2" or 3" shells. They are usually festival ball sized shells stuck inside of 2"/3" outer shells.
Actually, most NOABS are a 2.25-inch shell wrapped with a 3-inch casing. 2.25 inches is the largest a preloaded shell can legally be. However, there is a case to be made about the additional casing increasing the pressure buildup thus making the breaks more symmetrical, larger, and more professional looking. Also, there's a big difference between a good NOAB and a bad NOAB. I used two Uncle Sam's in my show this year, the mess they left was almost non-existent. Whereas last year, I used another one that left behind the shell halves.
Ultimately, it's the best you can get without an ATF license, which is just not realistic for most people. I'm working on getting my license, but it's a lot of work.
They never are. The US has some sad restrictions and it sucks. Powder weight limits are still the same. You're better off with a 60g canister shell kit than a 9 shot 60g pretending to be a 3" for the same price or more.
Problem is, you are shooting watered down 1.4g consumer grade products….They are going to seem underwhelming compared to the 16” shells you are used to sending. 3” NOAB is actually a 2” ball shell. 😂😂
I agree! From what I've seen they are reasonably priced at wholesale. I saw that Joel Robinson paid around $38/pc for the Mindbender when buying a case, at that price I'd absolutely say it's a rather good deal.
I agree with you. I'd say it's more bang for your buck with shells. But if you want convenience and not want the "hassle" with shells, the NOABs could be an option I guess, at least if you want as big of a bang as possible.
