Great video! Loved all the mounts at the beginning! Really not wanting to spend so much on the proclip solution but as you said, the others just don't check all the boxes with location and quality.
Thank you. The big hurdle with ProClip for many is the price, but I looked at all the failed mounts and found I actually spent more on them than I did on my ProClip. I've been using them in all my cars for the last few years and have been extremely happy.

What a great (Install/Review) combo video. Nice job!! I have the exact same phone and now I finally have an awesome mount for my phone that simply won't give me any grief anymore and I can finally STOP THE MADNESS and throwing my money out the window on friggin' JUNK that doesn't work. Thank you, I really appreciate the support! As for the ProClip I'm really pleased with this mount, the cheap mounts drove me nuts! ProClip as a company is pretty awesome too, they make great product, get involved with the community and are super informative just to make sure everyone gets the correct product. My actual review was on pause because I have another one that just arrived for my Wife's car and an accessory for my car to install.
Their website is quite user friendly and the drop-boxes get you right where you need to be, which is excellent!! The biggest issue I had, other than the standard JUNK, was my Otterbox. I wasn't ever able to find a decent mount to hold the S7 with it wrapped in the Otter. So, I was screwed then. What am I supposed to do, unwrap my phone, so that I can use a "mount" that didn't work worth a crap, then put it all back together again?? Lol...NOPE!! So, I was without a mount. So I just put my phone in that very small netted "cubby" on the left side of the console, up by my right knee in my SP, It really isn't much good for anything else right?? I don't understand why they didn't make that "cubby" the same size as the one on the right side of the console and for that matter, make them both deeper, ya?? At least it would have more usable space right?? I store an Expandable Baton in the one on the right side since I charge the cell out of the console but now that I've ordered a new ProClip, I'll need the outlet that's there. But that's ok, I've been making up a few different mounts for the Baton that I'm going to attach to the lower left portion of the console, so that I can just reach down with my right hand and grab it if I ever need too. Nothing fancy, just spring-loaded, stainless steel clamps that'll be secured from the inside of the console. The Baton mount is finished but I'm just waiting for my HURST Pistol Grip Shifter to arrive, so that I'll do them both at the same time, since the console will be apart and opened up anyway. No point opening it up twice right?? Speaking of that, have you considered something like the HURST or a Barton for your stick or are your "sticking" ;) with the OEM shifter??
Would yo believe I didn't even know there was a net on the driver's side for the first few months lol.
My OEM ball is turning copper. I'm going with the Barton as soon as I have some spare cash and free time to do the install. I've had the opportunity to play with them both and I prefer the Barton Black anodized with black ball. Opening the center console is CAKE it's just snapped on with clips. The shiftier boot frame is also held on with the same clips. I find it easier to remove the console cover (lift from the cup holders) than pulling the shifter boot and frame.
Just installed a ProClip on my 2012 R/T and love it. So much sturdier and now dose't block the media screen. Thanks for the review and suggestion.

Do you know of a way to have the power cord somehow installed into the dash so you don't see it? The alternative is it just hangs down in front of the dash but then shifting sometimes catches it.

Work Play Drive Do you find that the double sided tape is not necessary? I don’t see myself removing it often (if at all) but if it’s not needed, I’d rather not glue anything down. What say you? Thanks again!!
It works without, seems a teeny bit more solid with. I say go for it, the tape comes off without leaving any residue so there really is no risk.
Nothing beats the minimalistic Scosche Magnet. Worst part is having to put a magnet on the phone, but it's flat, and the hold is strong. literally slap that thing on lol

@@WorkPlayDrive Just received my 2018 Challenger Phone mount that I ordered for my One Plus 7pro phone and....it's pretty cool but I don't really like how it lifts up the trim on the dash panel Kind of sucks that it's that visible. I guess I gotta learn to live with it since I already opened the screw package. Oh well Over all it's pretty cool And definitely way better than that ridiculous iOttie vent clip I previously used

I looked at the powered mount as well, but since the cable connect is required for Android Auto - it seemed like paying the extra cost for something I'd be bypassing anyway seemed silly.

When in portrait mode does the mount have a hard stop as to how far the phone goes down? Is that adjustable at all? I don't like it gripping at the very bottom
best phone mount for the challenger is the mesh pocket on the side of the console and the 8.4 uconnect with nav

Google Now runs and tracks my life, it knows where I am and where I need to be and gets me there on time. I wish they would integrate it into a car platform so I can use that glorious screen for Navi..
For Universal mounting get the Oliv magnetic mount to compliment the ProClip!! I have this on my Charger. 100% recommend ProClip and Oliv magnetic mount!! Pricey- yes, but the absolute BEST!! I have a drawer full of other phone mounts now heading for the trash.
Totally agree, and I am seriously considering the magnetic mount now that my wife and I have different devices. I can't mount my phone in her car.
Mount really works!! I purchased one at the beginning of the year but for my Pedal Box controller and cut the mount in half to customize it. It looks great and going to purchase another one and to not cut in half lol for my phone =D

FWIW - I didn't bother with the tape on mine. If I'm in an accident where the thing becomes dislodged - I'll likely have much larger problems than my cell phone mount.
Similar here. Wife and I have the same phone with different cases. The Oliv Amp Magnetic mount solved the problem. Mounted to the Proclip it's very solid! Best magnetic mount I've tried.
I really didn't want a disk on the outside but found it worth it to securely mount the phone.
Just get it and don't look back!

So I saw in one of your videos where you took the ProClip off temporarily, your dash where it was inserted held the shape of the ProClip. I was wondering if you left the ProClip out for an extended period of time, does it return to normal? I don't want long term/permanent disfigurement of my dash just for the convenience of a phone holder.
I had the ProClip in for 2 years and when I turned in the car I removed the ProClip after a few warm days the gap closed up to almost perfect.
So is that the best place you can mount the clip? Just asking if over time you thought of other options. Great video thanks

Not bad. I'm a little iffy on what it's doing to the interior plastics but it does seem to be a solid mount. If you are ever curious about alternatives, I highly recommend the Nite Ize Steelie Ball mount kit. I'm also a trucker, and with two phones including a Galaxy Note 5, I've put down 350k miles in a big truck and it's never fallen or rattled once. I've also installed it in all my cars including my brand new Scat, (left side though, behind the wiper stalk on the silver plastic). I wouldn't put this on the soft touch materials, but it is easy to remove once installed. Here's a link:

With the piping it may be a tight fit or you would need to cut around the mount. Pro clip mounts are good but it’s sucks when you switch phones then have to buy a new holder. Magnetic mounts are by far the best I’ve used because I just stick the metal piece on the back of the phone and it sticks. I’ll probably buy a pro clip mount and stick a magnetic mount on it.
In my case my wife and me we have different phones and one car only - I am afraid Proclip would not work for us as well.

Make sure you read the return policy it's not very good. if only they would sell it on Amazon for the 2015 Dodge Challenger I've checked and they don't sell that model on Amazon. they don't back their product very well especially if you actually use it or screw anything into the screw holes and have any scratches plus have to pay for S&H not a very good return POLICY THIS IS THE most expensive phone mount in the world and they don't back their product even close to what Amazon would!
Not a fan of that gap. It's noticeable enough. My iPhone 7 + sits nicely in the net storage in the passenger side. 1. It's Bluetooth, so if I have calls, I don't need to see my phone. UConnect is pretty nice like that. 2. No unnecessary distractions with a second screen #DitchTheMount
If that works for you great, the uConnect GPS is borderline unusable for people who live in Google maps. I need the phone in a safe location for driving and directions, not flying out of the net and getting lodged under my seat. :)
That's an outlandish comment and a lie. That net, on the passenger side, will not allow your phone (yes yours) nor my iPhone 7 plus, to fly out of anywhere, unless you flip your car. And if you completed the updates on the maps for UConnect, they are just as reliable as Google maps. Especially when using XM Traffic. My comment is more specifically aimed at that horrible gap created around the bezel. For someone that pretends to have a minimalist approach to their car, you're more about gadgets and probable paid product placement. I like your channel and have sub'd. You should welcome comments from fellow Challenger enthusiasts- even if they disagree with you.
You're comments are welcome and we don't need to agree, but you also need to extend that courtesy to me as well, calling me a liar because I don't agree kind of contradicts that. Let's start over from your first statement and I'll try to answer in a better way.
I require a mount in my vehicle, I will not use uConnect unless my phone is dead. Google conveniently runs my schedule, appointments and navigation. It tells me when to leave for a meeting, it warns me of traffic and to leave early. As I walk to my car I setup my google maps and I'm mounted and driving. I have had this routine since google added the feature 2 years ago and prior to that I've always used Google as a GPS. I can compare the dislike you have for the gap in the bezel to my dislike for the uconnect in my 2015 and my wife's 2016. I have tried both quite a few times and Google is just more convenient for me.
Regarding product placement. A reddit user recommended ProClip upon receiving my first one I was exceptionally pleased. There will be brands on this channel, I will setup affiliate and associate deals the benefit both myself and my subscribers. Hosting a channel like this is expensive and extremely time consuming. I can promise you, the brands I put on this channel will not be there because I am paid, they will not be there because I received a free or discounted widget. They will be on my channel because I want the product, I have tested the product and I feel like working with the brand that owns the product to allow for savings to my subs and followers.
I will not be misleading people for personal gain, I have details on this laid out on my website www.workplaydrive.com/product-review-process. I'm not a successful vlog channel so most of my videos will be on how to install a product or how to do something or something I find interesting to share. Also a lot of the items I do install videos on are paid out of pocket, brands do NOT need to give me something for me to make a video. If there are people in the community in need of a how to and I want the product I'll do it.

My response to your "barely usable UConnect comment" are the facts that we, as Modern Mopar Car Owners, are very much stuck with this platform, and there isn't much of an option going into the future. As you already know, it controls every aspect of our vehicle's features, not just what is on the radio/gps screen, but on the cluster behind our steering wheels and within the heart of the computer. I can appreciate using google for a lot of things, but in my experiences, the XM Sat/Nav has helped in many ways with traffic, construction, road blocks, etc. The alerts you receive prior to going to your car, very beneficial, but not very convenient for our Mopar's while driving. Especially if you have to manipulate your phone during your drive without using Bluetooth.
I wish the UConnect App was a little more user friendly and that we didn't have to pay extra to unlock our car doors, trunk, using our phones from anywhere in the world. My wife has a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, and during the initial release of the phone app, as new vehicle owners, the features were free. While I was working as a police officer and it was snowing crazy, I called her (UConnect apps are independent to the vehicle owner's cell phone) and asked her if she could remotely start her Jeep from home for me (I borrowed her Jeep since my SRT 392 wasn't being driven in heavy snow at the time) and she was able to do so from 10 miles away. Her Jeep was warming up while I was working, and trying to limp the crappy patrol car back to the station for the end of my shift, with bald tires. She had to re start the Jeep every 15 minutes (auto shut off), but by the time I got back to the station lot, our Jeep was the only personal vehicle clear of snow build up, it was warm, and all I had to do was jump in and go while everyone else brushed theirs off. That's a UConnect feature that then became a paid subscription after the first year. It included a lot of other security features as well, in case your UConnect cars are ever stolen.
Even without those features, UConnect has a lot of others that are very convenient. We've bought a single weeks worth of WiFi hotspot to use as we traveled. For free, the SRT pages are amazing, and so are the built-in Pandora and other radio apps.
There is no ability currently to swap out the UConnect system in place of something else, without losing all of the other cluster-display features (keeping your eyes on the road and having the ability to see in your peripheral behind the steering wheel, turn-by-turn directions when using the Navi). Google can't project that over onto your gauge cluster.
All of our 19 speakers have dedicated connections to the UConnect which makes swapping the speaker system a pain to do without buying extra gadgets to wedge between the doors of dash just to convert to RCA. I experienced that pain with my 2010 SRT.
UConnect has some flash-upgrades coming to continue to update the maps and features. Hopefully there will be a hackable flash SD that someone will develop for our UConnects to do even more.
This is where knowing the situation would help (for both of us...) . You happen to send the message yesterday while I was in my car. When I stopped I checked and my 7+ fit in the pocket. So you are correct I'm not willing to test but I assume a flip or some serious G's during a left turn would get it to dislodge. However my wife's 6+ would always fall out. Why?? I recently replaced my dash cam, my previous cam came with a power plug that had a big stupid flip out USB port so you can charge your phone as well. This took up enough of the pocket to not allow her phone to sit fully inside rendering the pocket useless. I never use the pocket because as you know I need my phone front and center. Because of this I had always assumed the phone didn't fit.
I agree Free from distractions and keeping your phone out of sight is a smart idea. I've disabled most of the lock screen notifications because they are distracting while driving when mounted.
I've come to terms with with the uConnect and radio in the car (mine is the Alpine), I have no plans on trying to upgrade although a stereo swap is often one of the first things I did to my previous cars. It's not too bad when I turn it up, but music is mostly background as I enjoy the driving sounds, plus I generally keep the volume down with the family in the car. There only so much Kids bop one can deal with.
I can see how it's useful the app is in your situation, I'm not a fan of the paid service as it takes too long (at least in my area) from the button press on the app to the action happening in the car. My son launched the app and set off the horn (car locator i believe) it took 2 minutes over my home wifi for it to turn off. Similar experience with unlocking the doors when playing with it for the first time, from the experience on my Challenger I didn't even bother to set it up when we picked up the jeep. Other than playing with it I never used it and after the horn incident I removed the app. I'm still considering paying just for the location service alone.
For rerouting Google offer this service pre trip and when driving you can allow it to redirect you or push a big area on the screen to dismiss. I also get the advanced notification to leave early when there is traffic in rout. It really takes out the stress of being surprised with construction, etc. It also saves where I park, predicts my next destination and time of arrival based on time of day, pretty creepy but I've grown used to it. I guess it comes down to what works for us personally. Google owns my life in and out of the car so ...

All this effort for finding a mount just because google maps is compatible with carplay. God dammit.

Hey just an update google maps is now in car play
It’s ok the Nav stinks and costs hundreds to update yearly with year old data the mount + your favorite free map app is the way to go.
