Lou is right. A true time capsule. I really appreciate Lou for doing all the foot work he does to always never disappoint. And how about the sound of this car, stuff legends are made of.
An absolute beautiful Mustang. This generation of Mustangs (all versions) have always been my favorite, even over today’s Mustangs. I’d take one of these over today’s generation anytime! I’d be out driving this like other commenters have said. Wouldn’t have to be hard driven, nor rain or snow. Love it! Thanks Lou!
Very awesome! this is my favorite year favorite mustang!!! Wow you are so fortunate to get to witness and experience & ride in these gems of yesterday!!! Awesome rear end on this stang!! And she's a mach 1!! Immaculate!! Ty for your videos! Epic content friend!! 💯😎

Reminds me of the same interior and exhaust sound of my brothers car back in the 70's. It was a quarter mile killer always beating the other guys big blocks 3/4 to 7/8 of the way down the track. High RPM screamer!
Great car! I liked the car when it first came out. I showed my dad a picture of it, and he said it doesn't look like a Mustang. Ford had a nack for making controversial changes in body style. They did it with the 71 Mustang, the 72 Torino, the Tempo, the second generation Taurus, and the 1999 Cougar. After the first year of the body change, it usually catches on with the consumers, especially if they tweaked it for improvement. It took about a year for the last generation of the Cougar body style to grow on me, and I bought a 2000 Cougar. My roommate had a 73 Mustang, and he let me drive it to church. Driving it, I still felt like I was in a Mustang. In the fall of 1970, I stopped by a Ford dealership on the first day the new 71 models were out on display. They had a blue Mustang Convertible with a white top in the showroom. It had a 302 ci V8 with a four on the floor manual transmission. If I had the ability to make the purchase, that car would be mine.
When these first came out we couldn't believe the big monstrosity the cute little Mustang had become. However, compared to what's on dealership lots today, it's a great looking car.
Another great unappreciated muscle car Lou. You are the best. I had a chance to buy this exact color combo concours quality Boss 351 at Hershey in 1980 for $6,000. It was a ton of money then, that would not buy a basket case. If I am correct, this was the highest compression American engine in 71 at 11:7.1. Stunning car. I would love to drive it. One year only engine.
Another Gem Lou .. .Thanks . Were fortunate that folks preserved cars for Us to enjoy But I cant help but feel that Not driving these cars to Preserve them is Akin to Not making love to your girlfriend so her Next boyfriend will appreciate it .
Yes! Drive them machines!! U do not have to drive them out in snow n salt !! But fine sunny day get ur wife load her up and cruise on down to the shell mart , put ya some 93 in machine, and go burn up some fossil fuels!!
I'm fortunate here in Toronto , were in between snow belts and living downtown right beside Lake Ontario means most days throughout the winter the streets are dry . I drive my '67 Toronado all year .
A beautiful old Mustang! Nice and sporty and had lots of options on it I would have opted for air too but beggers cannot be choosers. I prefer the automatic but as you said all boss Mustangs were standard shifts which I did not know. Great engine sound and the engine was a clean one I loved that. Really surprised it had power windows and door locks plus it had a rear window defogger which shocked me. Thanks for sharing Lou!
On a scale of 1 to 5., I am giving this one a 10 !!!! I'm a sap for awesome 60s-70s Mustangs. The 80s on out, not so much. This 351 Boss Stang is extra sexy in black. My only disappointment is the dude was too light on revving the engine. But I guess I gotta cut him some slack because this was done in-doors. :-)
Now of course I find this to be a great car hence my user name. Something to note for this car is that of the 1806 Boss 351's that were built in 1971, only 2% were built in black. That would be about 20 of them. I like sharing this fun fact because I too have a factory black Boss 351 and much like this one, mine has 18,000 original miles. I am not boasting mine, I just like people to know just how rare this car in this color really is. Nice video, thanks for sharing
Great machine!! U know holding in that clutch, hand on shifter in 1st gear , just bearly revving that engine 2000rpm n letting her come back to idle, would make U feel so great!!
Scotty Jones, that's what SHE said!🤣🤣✌💚🌞Just like the 71 Ford Boss Mustang 351 engine, I don't get out much. But on a serious note, great car & excellent coverage Lou.✌
My mom had one of these! Back in 1974 on my birthday (the very day I got my driver's license) driving my mom's Boss a State Trooper got me for 110 in a 55. BTW: The front fenders on the car already had rust blisters and some holes - She traded it in a year later for a (yuck) Mustang II.
I was never really a fan of the 71 thru 73. Just didn't really like the body, but this boss 351 looks real good. It's crazy that there are only 19k miles on it

Never been a fan of the 71-73 Mustang body style but just the BOSS 351 engine alone makes this one of my top 3 favorite Mustangs of all time along with the 65 Shelby GT350 and 69-70 BOSS 302. Interesting fact...the BOSS 351 had the highest compression ratio of any engine built for the 1971 model year. The BOSS 351 might be the meanest small block of that whole era. It's a toss up between that and the 1970 Chevy LT1 350 that was put in Corvette's and Z28 Camaro's
Hi Jeremy, Happy to read you're impressed with the Boss 351 & that makes this car into the Top 3 Favorite Mustangs :-) Interesting info on the compression ratio, which I did not know. Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Thanks Lou, nice Boss... interestingly, that Zeibart Protection did not help ( Body/Frame)on my 1977 Trans Am Special EDITION/ Hurst TTOPS, THAT I ordered IN OCT 76: the rust cancer was severe by 13 years( T Tops leaked moisture inside panels, etc also): restoration beyond me & finances......the black goo, antiRust May have even made more expenses , etc.

Sometimes honesty is the best policy. I love all classic cars but this Ford wasn't all that pretty lol. Just my two cents. The front end isn't too bad but the back end was not a thing of beauty. Don't take it personal Lou. I love your videos and the history you bring us. Sometimes even car history can be Ugly lol.
Hi fordsrule35 , I understand not every car is for everyone. Thanks for viewing, sharing, and let's see what you think of the next car. Stay tuned :-) Lou
The Car may be Called Boss, but the Engine is Not a HEMI. Ford only Made 302 & 429 Hemis. Im Gonna Try & Buy a Yellow 71 429SCJ. Which is Just as Fast as The Hemi.
Lou I have been subscribed for a while . I just purchased a 1971 351 Boss ,frame off . Black with Argent !
Hi John, Thank you for Subscribing. New Boss 351....YAHOO!!! Congratulations! Lou
Nice. I always liked the "big" Mustangs. I think 1971 was the same year that the Charger was redesigned as well.

Why not show the fold down rear seats and the pass thru from the trunk? Neat feature on the Mustangs.
That was a good idea :-)
The Mach 1 didn't need a rear spoiler. The whole back end acted as one.I preferred pie pan wheels tho.Mine was Azure, w/ Black letters.
