This is a very informative video. It's a great insight to see into what our navy is doing.

A Mission Set Very Similarly To Our United States Coast Guard ( USCG) Maritime Security Response Teams ( MSRTs). I'm Actually Very Impressed With This Royal New Zealand Navy ( RNZN ) Special Operations Capable ( SOC) Unit.

What makes it a SOC unit in any way?

@Bigman-fh1fz : In US DOD Doctrine, " Special Operations Capable " ( SOC), Means That Certain Designated General Purpose Forces Can And Do, Receive A Certified Level of Instruction and Training In Order to Perform Certian Special Operations Tasks and Objectives For A Limited Capacity and Duration.

They’re not in any way a Special Operations capable unit. They’re only specialised in compliant boardings as stated. Any higher level of threat boardings that are determined from intelligence and the ships command team would be conducted by Special Forces units such as SAS or commando units or Navy Clearance divers trained in non-compliant boarding operations. You’re average boarding team is made up of ships company personnel such as Boatswains mates, Medics and even Mechanical technicians etc. not specialised SOC personnel

How do they compare to aussie and uk and US?

    • @Buddy89538

Very much on par although the Aussies and Brits have more history/experience in dealing with complaint boarding operations at sea stemming from higher tempo of the Refugee Crisis and illegal fishing in Northern Australia. During the last 20 years.

Where are all our defense staff going to live based out of Devonport earning below civilian salaries?
