    Overall, I would definitely look into the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) laptop because it seems to hit the boxes on so many levels, however, the whirling noise of the 3rd fan concerns me a bit and if you're at all sensitive to fan noise, I would say try it out first whether it's seeing it in store or ordering it and then returning it if it becomes irritating. The fact that the RAM is soldered in is not unusual for these smaller laptops but it's always a positive to be able to upgrade it yourself. The quality of the built-in speakers is SUPERB and in line with the MacBook Pro's. The exclusion of WiFi 7 is another negative but at least the WiFi card can be swapped out and upgraded. It's got decent battery life, nice port selection, stunning 1080p webcam and clear internal mics. Lastly, the OLED screen is gorgeous as well as the metal build! All and all, a very decent laptop with just a few flaws, but I might be nitpicking a bit. Excellent breakdown and review and Andrew!! 👍😁

    Ditch AC and install GHelper instead. Tweak the settings to your liking. You can set the fans RPM based even on specific temps.
    On silent and with the GPU off and right settings you can easily squeeze 8 to 9 hours easily on this machine.
    Its more of a premium ultrabook with gaming capability.

    bought a 16in zephyrus full loaded but returned it 3 days later.... theirs a limit on nvme storage soldered ram and its super finicky with thunderbolt 3/4 docks. I'm constantly on the go and when i come home just hookup my laptop to my dock wether it be mac or pc. Have a razerblade 15in and usually its just plug and play but with the zephyrus it was troubleshooting everytime and drove me mad... although it was nice for just a gaming laptop on the go and temps were pretty decent as well no complaints. just wish those bugs weren't there and the silly limitation on nvme storage.

    I finally got to see the 2023 G14 in person last weekend - I was considering getting it on sale for 1k, but decided against it for a few reasons apart from the 2024 model's new pros, which I do quite like (lid design, thin body, OLED screen [I'd love a mini-LED one but that's only available on more expensive 2023 models], great speakers, rectangular charging port). I didn't like the shiny, "holographic" lid, for day to day college work I feel like the fan exhausts on the back and sides aren't really for me, and lastly I don't really like the all white design of the 2023 model, I suspect I would prefer the 2024's silver aluminum design.

      The benchmarks are defintely not on battery. Windows laptops always take a big performance hit when not plugged in. If the thottling is an issue then you really need a MacBook which runs the same whether plugged in or not.

      @@sally_face_jk I got the G14 2024 16GB RAM RTX 4060 at $1300 USD. At that price it's okay. Screen looks great, decent battery life, good camera, great speakers. Premium ultrabooks go for about $1000-1300 and this laptop has similar build quality (in a thicker chassis) while also being able to play games.
      It retails at $1600 which I don't think is worth it. $1300 is probably the most I would spend. You can get a laptop with the same specs (while also having upgradable RAM and better RMA support than what Asus provides) for about $1000, but nothing from other vendors like Lenovo have the same build quality.

    Is it the best 14 inch laptop? No. But it's decent, as long as you get a model with 32 GB of RAM. I think it should have started with 32 GB with options for 64 GB, especially with the RAM soldered.

      What laptop u use now, why you should use more than 16 Gb now, future updates you need ?

      apple is still better.

    • @cameronbosch1213
      @cameronbosch1213 8 месяцев назад +3

      @lucasrem First of all, I can actually make use of that much memory because I use virtual machines. 16 GB would NEVER cut it. (I've tried and they keep crashing because of a lack of RAM.)
      Second, I use a Framework Laptop 16 with 64 GB of RAM; I use at least 32 GB of RAM with those VMs open.
      Third, speed of the RAM isn't everything. Sure, some things would be _slightly_ faster with LPDDR5 RAM, but I'd take slightly slower but replaceable RAM over having not enough but faster RAM.
      And fourth, saying Apple is better without context makes you sound biased towards Apple, when they start most of their lower-end products with anemic amounts of RAM for the price.
