05:12 I would have thought at this point the guy shooting the video would be saying "Ohhh Shiiiittt!!" But, his "Damn" after the retardant hit was sufficient! He should have immediately turned the camera on himself showing him covered in red goo and saying, "Folks, this is why you should evacuate."
What's the model of that twin boom spotter aircraft featured in some shots? Haven't seen it before, looks cool EDIT: perhaps OV-10 Bronco? Confirmed, CAL FIRE OV-10 Bronco "Air Attack 460"
They take so much risk in negotiation through dark smokes emanating out of the flames where the visibility of the terrain ahead is reduced to zero. By simply the local knowledge of the area and a quick glance of the area to cover before negotiating a curve, they manage to fly past.

Мда. Гора родила мышь. Судя по тому как в этом году самые большие пожары в истории США, а так же по данному видео... либо компания боится сбрасывать воду на непосредственные пожары, либо пилоты косые, либо всё вместе.
It‘s incredible what mankind has achieved:
From firefighting with a bucket of water to a 74t drop from a flying metal bird.

That particular airplane was just too big for this applications. Dangerous and too expensive.
You’re only looking at the cons and not the pros. It’s a global supertanker. It can travel to anywhere in the world and fight fires.
