10 Tanker Air Carrier - DC-10 Air Tanker 911 dropping fire retardant on the Liberty Fire in Murrieta California December 7th, 2017.
Taken with Sony HandyCam HDR-CX675 while standing on the roof of my house with pretty strong winds. Pretty sketch for sure. Sun was bright and it was hard to see the LCD screen while I was recording. So I am kind of all over the place trying to locate the plane and record at the same time.

In August of 2015 Tanker 911 saved the city of Chelan Washington in one well timed and perfectly aimed drop. Thank you Tanker 911 and crew, your service that day was exemplary and greatly appreciated.
Wow that was incredible to watch. Never seen them from that perspective. Seeing it dip below houses in the foreground, watching the pilot battle all sorts of crazy crosswinds and drafts from the fire. That was wild and I'm thankful for these pilots as well as the person that managed to catch this on film!
Wow!! It takes a lot of skill to fly a DC-10 that low, that slow and deliver a payload with such accuracy. If the pilot also works on commercial flights I want him to be in command whenever I fly. Way back, when I was a much younger man, I was a crew member in a helicopter that had a pilot in command with equal skills. We went places and did things I would not have thought possible with an aircraft. After my first mission I never doubted the abilities of my pilot.

Yeah I'm certain the heat from the fire was causing all sorts of weird air currents in addition to what already looked like nasty crosswinds too. The skill these pilots have is impressive to put it lightly

It is truly an amazing site to see these pilots dropping fire retardant. Like the firefighters on the ground, they are heroes too.

Something about the DC-10 just makes it really cool
To witness a one time commercial jet now do hero work is a beautiful site to behold. BTW at least the videographer held his phone to the side to make it wide unlike a multitude of other "geniuses" out there.
Qboro66 Yeah, filming in portrait is just dumb and unfortunately, more and more aren't landscaping because they use their phones. At least this was filmed with a video recorder

Woody Ridenour LoL, it's a fine plane, lotsa power & lift, the manufacturer just lost their nerve concerning losing a big contract & pushed it out too early b4 its hardware engineering kinks were worked out. That & a negligent American Airlines maintainence employ unbuckled an engine 4 servicing where he shouldn't have.

サイドスリップとは、通常の水平飛行と異なりまして、航跡上は直進ながら機体姿勢は三舵を打ちっぱなしにして抵抗を増やし、水平飛行可能な速度以下で一時的に飛行することです
これによって、単位面積辺りの消火剤散布量を増やしているわけです
エアブレーキでこと足りない程ブレーキがかかる姿勢を作るだし、沢山の消火剤散布を行っているわけです

Agreed. At first I thought it was shot on a cellphone, which is usually a tough balance between trying to zoom for detail verses shaking the frame all over the place (given the UI and form factor of cellphones and zooming.) But the OP indicates a camera was used, so yes, this is not great shooting. Thankful they did post, but a note would be to A) Ride zoom far less aggressively, B) Zoom slowly if the camera allows, C) Lean against something with your camera hand to help stabilize long range shooting. A door frame, pole or deck railing can all suffice in a pinch. D) Make a mental note to choose what you need to focus on for the best overall content. in this case it's the jet and the drop... so track that for best framing... with enough visual buffer to account for context as well as possible camera movement. Crappy camera work completely forgivable in an emergency or extreme conditions, but when you have time to setup and control the shot, make it a good one. Practice practice practice! Thanks for posting though.
