Amanda Palmer plays "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" (Death Cab for Cutie cover) at an encore performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2007, August 17.
hello apalmer, this stream of gibbard's will follow is great in scotland - how is neil and brian ?? (to portalblue to apalmer) - saw mr gaimen with her at town hall for their tea party reading and singing. elle for coins to keep
I first heard Amanda's version on MySpace, and it is a million times better than the original by Deathcab For Cutie. I don't like this live version quite as much, but she's still amazing.
It's really hard to compare the two because they're so differently done. You have to bear in mind it was written to suit Ben Gibbard's voice. I prefer the original too, but it's an interesting interpretation.
So fucking morose. At least DCab's version had a cute folksy guitar rhythm to contrast the lyrics. This on the other hand is like tying someone to a chair whilst hitting them with a rubber hose asking, "Are you sad yet, are you sad yet?"
Her voice sort of stabs you in heart and stays. It's amazing..
Look... all I gotta say is when a live performer is this good then you must give 5 stars.
I don't think I will ever get tired of her singing this song.
My soul has been touched and I have been split open by her voice and this song...
i love Amanda Palmer. She inspires me!!!!!!
I love this. cannot listen to this without crying, Amanda is so talented. Love this so much.
Gorgeous voice, it drips heartache & pain.
awesome, that mean i was there, thanks for uploading :)it's really good quality
Great Quality!!! she did an amazing job!!!!
totally agree. It's so raw and emotional even when she's just singing softly and slowly.
her voice murders me. I love it so much.
She's so talented. Nothing beats the original but this is almost as incredible. It fits her voice quite well, too.
This is so awesome.T_T
it also made me cry a little
Her voice breaks my heart.
omg...I do this song in a cover duo...this is killing me but fantastic. @portalblue thank you for uploading, from Australia :)
That's so awesome. I think it's so odd how all my favorite famous people are friends. XD
I've always wondered; Why would you illuminate the nose on the Vacancy signs? :3

No your right. She covers multiple Ben Gibbard songs, but its Ben Folds who produced the Who Killed Amanda Palmer cd.
She is clearly a fan of Ben Gibbard considering she has covered both Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service. This is a really awesome cover.
Wow. that was stunning.
I might like this better than the original.

this is like a lullaby.
albeit a little dark...but beautiful nonetheless. i cant stop listening to it

It's a good (slow) version of 'I will follow you into the dark'.
Ane, try Gavin Mikhali's version, it's sounds nice though =)
what date was this?
@Ayelis you mean No's??? signs dont have noses.
I don't like the original as much as this.
I don't think it's "better" than the original per se, but it definetally carries more emotion.
i like the death cab for cutie version more
Sorry but this (for me) surpasses the original....
i luv her voiceee . she singss it realli gud
butt i still prefer da original by deathcab for cutie . i still luv this version though
This is great, but I like the original better.
