How to Program an Interlogix Networx NX4, NX6, or NX8 Tutorial - Alarm System Store

- Jason of Alarm System Store takes you through a tutorial on programming the Interlogix NetworX NX4, NX6, or NX8 alarm panels. He steps you into programming by using the NX 1308E keypad.
He works with you on how to go about setting up zones, user codes, and other basic programming setup items.
The Interlogix NetworX panels are a line of alarm control panels that will give you the ability to wire in hardwired devices or use Interlogix wireless detection devices by adding the NX548E 48 zone wireless receiver.
The NetworX NX4 can handle up to 8 zones with 4 onboard and up to 8 user codes. The NetworX NX6 can handle up to 16 zones with 6 onboard and the rest can be had with zone expanders or wireless receivers. And finally, the NetworX NX8 can handle up to 48 zones with 8 onboard and more to be had by adding zone expanders or a wireless receiver.

Very informative. I’ve always used Honeywell Ademco equipment and I can almost program it in my sleep. The GE stuff is different and I’m still a bit confused on some of the programming but this video was very helpful. Thank you.

I have a question Jason, i have the interlogix NX8 v2 panel, im getting fault front motion zone 3. I tested the motion sensor and it tested good. Any ideas why is giving me error? I checked and it has a resistor. Thank you for the advise
can the arm and disarm delay time be adjusted? once i open the door i have to disarm very fast before the alarm goes off.

How do I disable a zone? I would think for the zone type, I would put 0, but I'm not sure...
No, no it doesn't work like that! If you want to permanently disable a zone and not bypassing it every time you need to arm the system you have to exclude that zone from all partitions of the system. Watch this video from 11:30. Device 0-> Location 26 (if the zone is within 1 to 8) or Location 28 (9 to 16) or Location 29 (17 to 24). Each Location has 8 Segments, one for every zone (seg1 zone 1, seg 8 zone 8), remove all partitions from that Segment. You can re enable that zone by assigning a partition in the same way
My zone 8 is a motion detector zone but it chimes when activated like the zone 1 (entry door) and zone 3 (doors). How can I change the zone 8 so it does not chime. My zones 5, 6, and 7 are also motions and they do not chime when activated. This is annoying at night when the dog activates zone 8 and keypad in master bedroom chimes.

Yes. all programming is the same no matter what lcd keypad you use to program the system.
Extraordinarily helpful! Any advice on how to change the 'welcome message' on the panel? Our panel still reads "Welcome to the (family who owned house before us) home." We would love to change it...

Check NX-148 keypad manual. It's in section " Programming custom messages in the keypad."

If you have lost the user master code but you have the installer's code you can create a new master code by enabling option 4 (On: enables “Go To Program Code” as a master arm/disarm code) in Segment 1 of Location 43, exit the programing mode, press *5 (to change the code), enter installer's code as master and change the code of the user you want. If you are not familiar with programming NX systems i highly do not recommend to follow this procedure because there are some high risk locations that can completely lock you out from the system if you select a wrong option.
