This is so helpful! Spain sounds amazing! Maybe one day!
Thank you very much for that video. I just enrolled in a 120 hour TEFL and I’ve been contacting friends from around Asia to try and get a jump start. I can use all the help I can get.
How exciting! Which countries are you most interested in?

Thank you for producing this video. I'm just getting started on my research for teaching English. Because I'm 55 yrs old, I wonder if it's realistic for me to move forward in paying for an online course? I would probably like to teach online and wonder if my age might be a disadvantage.
I don't think that your age would be a disadvantage for teaching English online. It can be for teaching abroad due to visa restrictions, but generally there aren't age requirements for teaching online.
@@ESLTeacher365 hello teacher i have a program for you
People of all ages can teach online.
Hi! Tnx for this video! Amazing tips. One question, can you teach in these countries having a TEFL degree but English not being one's first language? As I am from the Netherlands. Another tip is that you can also teach having an TEFL degree in Guatemala, where I am currently teaching :)
It depends on the country. For non-native speakers it can be challenging to get hired without at least a degree in most countries, but Latin America is the best option like you said.
@@ESLTeacher365 tnx!
Hi, Will UDEMY certificates in teaching & diploma in TEFL enhance my chances of getting a job without a degree? I would love to go to Spain, Russia, South Korea. Thank you
The degree requirement is usually linked to visa requirements. For example in South Korea you’ll need a bachelor’s degree (unless you are doing the TaLK program which has different requirements.) I would make sure to get an accredited TEFL cert like Premier TEFL or ITA if you’d like to teach without a degree.
Does Mexico and other neighboring Latin countries require you to have completely immunization, particularly with the Covid-19 vaccine, in order to teach? What about Brasil? I know that in Southeast Asia it is mandatory and that they are stringent about these guidelines being adhered too.
You will have to check each country individually and understand that the requirements are constantly changing. Normally before teaching abroad you will need certain immunisations before you can live in another country. There are often medical exams you need to pass for visa purposes.
Have you ever heard of new certificate holders volenteering in the states for the experience? There are alot of Mexicans in my area that speak little to no English. Did you learn alot of Spanish in CR and Spain?
Yes you can volunteer in the States. That’s a great way to get experience. I did this before teaching abroad. I learned a lot of Spanish in CR and Spain because I lived with host families and locals. I only had the option of speaking Spanish at home!
I'm surprised you didn't mention Vietnam. I taught there for over 2 years without a degree and made good money
They now require a degree. Some people teach without, but officially you need one. Where were you in Vietnam?

Hi, I am a bachelor's degree majoring in English education, and have more than 5 years of teaching experience. I teach English, art, and Japanese language from Junior high to senior high school students in my country. Right now, I plan to teach abroad, my question is can I teach without a TEFL certificate, especially in Thailand because of my background in education and I have many experiences in teaching? I hope you will answer my question, thank you very much:)
Hi! If your bachelor's degree is in education, you should be able to teach without a TEFL. However, if you are a non-native speaker, then I recommend getting one since you'll want to be as qualified as possible.
Hello, can you recommend a TEFL program that is recognized and accepted?
I too don't have a Degree but I'm 56 y/o with tons of business experience. I also speak fluent Spanish.
My interest is a permanent relocation so ang information on how to accomplish this, ie. Best Visa, would also be very much appreciated.

I love the and statue lol

Thank you for these videos! This is really helping me draw a clear path to how I want to achieve this dream. I do have some questions, though:
1) How does the job search look with no experience, no degree, and fresh out of a TEFL Certification Course?
2) In Canada, there is a Mature Student's status in our universities, which gives the chance for an applicant above the age of 19 to apply to their desired university if they have related experience in that field. I'm sure teaching English abroad serves as related experience to apply for a BA in English in any university, but is that experience valuable enough be able to work in countries that require a degree? Will I need to continue my education to do so?
1 - you will have to search for jobs in countries that don’t require a degree. Latin America is the best region for this. I also recommend teaching online before you teach abroad to get some experience. 2 - countries that require a degree do so because of the visa. Even if you have experience teaching, you won’t be able to access these jobs without a degree so you’ll need to get qualified first.
I hope this helps!

Hello I wanted to know can I apply in South Korea with a 2 years diploma in culinary arts
Unfortunately the only way to teach without a degree in Korea was the TALK program and it has closed down.
What about countries that require a degree? I'm in a position where 500 to 1000USD is almost inconsequential to me and I really just want to do this for the experience. Can I volenteer? I'm almost 45, do schools prefer to hire someone yonger than me. It looks like most English teachers are 20s and early 30s.
You could potentially volunteer on a tourist visa, but you’d be paying a fee to do the volunteer program. There are teachers of all ages abroad. Some Asian countries tend to hire younger teachers but most other parts of the world don’t care or have a cut off around 55 or 60.

I’ve been told you need a degree for Italy, I am getting my TEFL and so is a friend and I have my degree but she doesn’t so we have been choosing Spain bc she’s never been to Europe and wants a friend present. Are you sure you don’t NEED a degree for Italy still?
A degree is preferred. Italy is very challenging unless you have EU citizenship. If you want to teach in Italy as a non-EU citizen your only real option is getting a student visa and teaching in language academies part-time put to 20 hours per week. Spain is much easier to teach in with a degree because you can qualify for language assistant programs. Without a degree, it’s similar to Italy - you need a student visa and can teach in academies with a TEFL - but up to 30 hours per week.
umm the website you posted on your description box for the tefl academy says a degree is required? isn’t this video is supposed to be about no degree required?
You don’t need a bachelor’s degree to do a TEFL course. To teach in some locations a degree will be required, but TEFL certificates are open to everyone.
Hi Jamie, I'm also American-Australian! (Born in Australia but I have lived worked and studied in the US since a young age). A few questions - I have a TEFL certificate, a bachelors (and masters), but am having trouble finding a job. The main reason for this is MOST of the companies that offer certificates (TEFL etc.) offer job resources but the price of there certificates are quite high (to cover the cost of the job placement). Additionally, there are companies that you can pay to work or volunteer abroad but I don't necessarily believe in this approach. I was offered a job in Mexico at a private school that I unfortunately had to decline but otherwise its very hard finding a job on your own without paying a placement agency. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks again. BTW also following you on IG.

Italy is tricky because most jobs will require EU working rights. I would suggest getting certified to teach in your country to have a better chance of finding work in Europe.
When you say 500-1000 a month, that’s not much money. How many hours a day and how many days a week do you work?
You have to consider the cost of living in the country. You can look at the website Numbeo to see the average cost of rent, food, utilities, etc and compare it to the salary. Higher paying jobs are usually reserved for teachers with a degree and/or teaching license (not just TEFL)

Hi Disha, I recommend getting your English level certified by an official exam like Cambridge or IELTS. My advice is to make sure you are highly qualified and don’t give up! Most of the time a degree in anything is ok. However, depending on the country you want to teach in, some may prefer or require a degree in Education, English, ESL, etc.
I’m asking this for my mom. if one of the school in Korea can hire her as a non native English teacher , is it still impossible to get an E2 visa? if yes what should she do? she is not native speaker and hasn't a passport from one of the 7 countries such as UK and …. but she has a English teaching bachelors degree and she has a institute and experience of 13 years teaching English. is it possible to teach English in Korea?
The E2 visa is only available to passport holders from one of the 7 countries. To teach in Korea as a non-native speaker you need a high TOEFL score (an English exam) and to look for hagwons (private language academies) that will sponsor your visa.
@@ESLTeacher365 thanks for your answer ^^
@@ESLTeacher365 what score of TOEFL is required ?
@@ESLTeacher365 the average of age is important to teach English?
@@mandana_msl904 People of all ages teach abroad, but you need to loook at each country and even each visa individually. Some countries have a maximum working age which other visas, like Work Holiday Visas, have age restrictions. There is some discriminiation, especially in Asia, towards hiring older teachers as well, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible, it just means you need to teach in countries that are more accepting.
So what country would you best recommend to live in if you want to save money but also live in a apartment. So for instance id have at least 10kUSD saved up before I move to another country period. I have a son and his mother to move along with me once I'm settled into the position. Id like to have a 2 bedroom apt in a safe area but I don't want to be behind on bills or live on a budget where I'm broke as can be every month. What country would you suggest?
The key is looking at the price of living vs your salary and also considering teaching online or another side hustle. If you don't have a degree, the easiest region to teach in is Latin America. I recommend Colombia :)
@@ESLTeacher365 Thank you very much
What is the difference between TESOL and TEFL ?
TESOL when English is being taught to learners in a native speaking country like Australia. For example, Japanese students studying in Australia. TEFL is for teaching English in a non-native English speaking country. However, in terms of the certification, both are accepted, but you need to check with the individual brand to make sure it’s accredited.
@@ESLTeacher365 Oh okay thank you so much 🙏🏻💗
The pay is so terrible. How can someone save making only $800/month? S Korea seems to be the best pay, but requires a degree, too bad.
You have to consider the cost of living in the country.
@@ESLTeacher365 Seems like it's best for people who don't care about saving money and just want to travel desperately.
This is still double the minimum wages in these countries. Not bad for 30hr work week.
@@alwayslearning7672 It is bad. The people coming to these countries to teach don't care what is good for that country, they aren't retiring there. If they leave a country with a median salary of 60k/year how is 9,600/year a smart move? Like I said, you'd have to be desperate.
Hi l am from Ethiopia so ask question please?
What is your question?
I want to teach in italy 🇮🇹? What I have to do ? I already live in there…
If you already live in Italy you will need a TEFL certificate (CELTA preferred) and a C2 level of English if you are a non-native speaker. You will also need the right to work in the EU. Once you have these things, you can update your CV and apply to private language schools.
@@ESLTeacher365 ok.thank you for the information. How do I get the TEFL certificate? Can you provide some details about the TEFL certificate,
And after I got the TEFL certificate doesn't it mean I'm in C2 level of English?
@@MS-eg9wj There are many TEFL certificates to choose from. I made a video comparing them, so you can watch that on my video. A TEFL certificate proves that you can TEACH English, but you will need a separate English language exam like IELTS or Cambridge CPE to prove you have a C2 level of English. Anyone can take do a TEFL certificate course so it doesn't prove your level.
@@ESLTeacher365 Ok, I got it. Thanks a lot.

I'm interested in South Korea
Unfortunately in 2024, South Korea requires a degree.
Any agencies that are legit ?
Is placement guaranteed in Cambodia?
For Cambodia it’s best to travel there and interview in-person.
are non native speakers hired in these countries?
It depends on the country, but typically if you are a non-native speaker and you don't have a degree you will find it challenging to get hired to teach abroad. I recommend getting a degree and actual teaching certificate if you can as a non-native speaker.
@@ESLTeacher365 if I've a bachelor's degree in english language and literature and just got done with my 120 hours tefl certification course would it be difficult for me to find a job? I'm a non native speaker with decent command over the english language without any prior teaching experience.
@@meenakshikashyap1801 It depends on the countries that you are interested in teaching in. Some are more competitive and will look for previous teaching experience or at least a TEFL that included teaching practice. I recommend getting some experience in your country before going abroad and for non-native speakers to take an official English exam to prove your level (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge, etc). Countries that hire non-natives are places like Mexico, Argentina, Cambodia and Thailand.
