I think the hardest one is probably Ascension? The rocket shields are nice, but I imagine some things are just locked behind ceilings? Is it even possible?
Exellent video. Here's a challenge idea i had for some time: A Shield Hero run. Dont pick or use Bows or Weapons.
The run would be quite interesting & not that tedious since shields can be given offensive capabilities thanks to fuse. Wonder if perfect parries would allow a small amounts of shields to be used in the run.
@@Refreshment01 Great idea! Unfortunately SmallAnt already beat the game without weapons, bows, and shields, so that wouldn't bring anything new to the table. Thanks a ton for the suggestion, though!

At 5:27 you can shoot or throw bombs onto those type of targets to trigger them
The shrines that require you to slam the spheres into them, you can actually just shoot bomb arrows into them and it counts. Found that out on accident.

The shrines where you can reach the end without a gate blocking the way can just be solved with bombs as well.
"Throwing" a weapon fused with a zonai cannon also works wonders, and doesnt take a bomb and arrow every shot 😁

Cool video. In my opinion, these shrines are amazingly designed. I feel like those work-arounds are intentionally put in for those people who don't want to mess around, or want to mess around a lot.
Yeah that's my opinion too. It's a game that is centered around creativity, after all.
Near the frozen river you swam across in the tutorial there should be a steward construct that will give you the zoni battery pack, it’s used in speedruns.

For the "impossible" shrine you showed, you can just trigger the pad with a bomb arrow
If you are ever planning on doing more shrine, there are a lot of them possible because you can use bomb flowers + arrows to activate most buttons.
You can pretty much solve 90% of puzzle shrines with bomb flowers.
This could easily be a video with a channel with over a million subs. Great comedy, edits and content all around. Keep up the great work and may the algorithm favor you!

My only suggestion would be to get a dedicated mic and make sure the levels are right so there's no clipping. Audio is hard. Great editing and pacing though!
I think the shrines are intentionally designed to be cheesable, because they wanted the player to be able to make thier own solutions, that's also why you can activate targets with bomb arrows.
Fuse + throw: viable enough strats for moving the big balls, etc. Works with korok rock puzzles too. Just drop the rock part of the weapon in the right spot.
A Bouncy Device was the first shrine I did after hitting the surface.
It took quite a bit of trial and error to complete it with 4 hearts and no paraglider.
Yoooo, this video was great, and I watched the whole thing. You beat it in 17 hours and I have 20 hours in my main save and haven't beaten a single regional phenomena thing
Don't worry, my first playthrough took like 50 hours lol

Fun fact: you can push these buttons with bomb arrows (or just any explosives). Actually doing the puzzle is entirely optional

I had an idea for a challenge run that's almost the exact opposite of this: beat the entire game without swords or bows, leaving ultrahand as your main means of defending yourself (along with shields, throwing items, and whatever else you can find)
Also could you imagine the insanity that would happen in this game if link's weight was the sum of everything in your inventory?
I'd note that the current speedrun strat for TotK also uses ultrahand minimally; literally only for wingglider strats to get to hyrule castle fast. (oh and I guess positioning a controller for clips, but that's technically doable without ultrahand)

I certainly don't think it is, I like that puzzle chambers can have multiple solutions. The problem is when they are so short AND so easily cheesed that it just becomes very underwhelming, in my opinion. If you enjoyed all the shrines you played, fantastic!

I like the shrine design because it allows people that don't care about the puzzle to have fun without it and those that do care to do it normally
shooting a bomb arrow at the targets for shrines that you usually need to hit with stuff also counts. I assume that might make two or more shrines possible without it.
Here is a fun challenge which I am trying to do which is hard, no using weapons or bows, this means the only way you can attack is, yoga earthquake shield parrying with sharp objects, being creative with links abilities, and there are more, but the rules are, do all dungeons, you can’t use weapons or bows. (Shields allowed)

related to fuse shrine, i was an idiot and explored the whole outer islands before going to the temple of time, so i learned a few routes, like a secret waterfall path past that large lake
I'm in the early stage of my own challenge run that I think is pretty tough so far; no glider run. I just didn't get it from Purah after she told me to go rest in the shelter. It's also a defacto no map run since I can't use the Skyview towers. Might be able to work that out later if I get the glide suit but I doubt it.
I am doing this aswell! My tip is to map the Depths and use that as a sort of map. For the most part it's just a reverse of the overworld map, so it's useful. Definitely possible to get the glide suit aswell :)
@@Dampe17 The speedrun does a b-line for ganondorf without doing 10% of the rest of the game. That's not quite what I'm shooting for. I did borrow the tech in the sky island temple of time to avoid having to reverse those gears.

Just a heads up the home run shrine can be done with bomb flowers or any target related shrines
You can even shoot the targets with a bomb and they activate.
The shrine you said was "probably" impossibkle without ultrahand sin't, you can just activate those targets with bombs.
5:20 any of those targets throughout the game can be set off by explosion
Shrine at 5:23 can be done, those big targets can be activated with Bomb Arrows

There's more than one place to unlock the battery. You can get it from the construct right next to the boat you said you weren't able to use. Did that casually, I didn't even realize I was doing the shrines backwards.
Also, you seem to be under the impression that cheesing shrines is unintended, but the ability to do so is very much part of the design of this game.
I know the ability to cheese shrines is intended, but the fact that it's SO easy and some shrines are SO short annoys me a bit. I wanted more challenge in my challenge run, and IMO the shrine concepts never reach their full potential
That shrine that you said is impossible without ultra hand (the one with the ball and target) can actually be solved with a bomb arrow to the target
Any of those target shrines are possible if you just shoot it with a bomb flower, for some reason this works

I'm not personally affected, but you might want to put a seizure warning towards the end. There was a lot of flashing during the fast-forwarded clips.
I really liked the video! I love shrine speedruns in this game compared to BOTW because instead of doing 1 windbomb the runners use a combo of vertical and horizontal rocket shields and bomb flowers!
That ball shrine actually is possible without ultra hand. Just throw a bomb at the button. You can also fuse the ball to a weapon and throw the weapon.

I spent 2 hours on the built-for-rails(Jiukuom) shrine as it was my 4th surface shrine and then i realized i could rocket there...
You can use bomb arrows to activate those target things in shrines
5:18 you don't need ultrahand for that shrine, hitting the target with bomb arrows triggers it.

If you need to hit a target in a shrine you can just shoot it with a bomb arrow, works for some reason

there is next to nothing you need the hand for.
But you do need to use most of the other hand abillities
Also fans are usefull if you use them right. Put them on your shield to increase your flying speed.

For reference with how strong totk link is, I asked Reddit if he could beat every other named character in the *franchise* (which includes all other gannons and links) at once.
The responses were mixed. The general concensus is that all the Links with invulnerability (heroes of Twilight, Wind, Time, and Legend) are immune to his attacks, and the Hero of Legend uses invisibility to sneak up and force totk Link into ragdoll. They loop him in ragdoll, and Prime Demon King Gannondorf drains all his hearts.
Well, without Ultrahand his power level certainly takes a hit

Idk, Rocket Shield, Gibdo bones on a 5-shot savage lynel bow, Radiant armor and attack up 3 food....
Fuse is what makes Link truly terrifying. Being able to deploy an orbital weapon in a few seconds with Autobuild is also pretty significant, but his offense, defense, and recovery are what truly makes him an unstoppable force.

I'd note that TotK also has access to the magic rupee armour so he's just as invulnerable as all the rest. More importantly though, Link has 4 distinct advantages: Significantly larger healing item potential, way better aerial options (meaning the other links have to rely mostly on boomerangs and arrows), autobuild to make (flying) death machines and obstacles out of thin air, and recall.
(1) If any link or boss has no way to break a cage or move said cage, they're effectively out of the fight. (yes, even demon king ganondorf can be cheesed using a cage, it's used in a weaponless totk run); I count any link that can use power gloves and similar as being able to move cages, so those are still in.
(2) If any link's only ranged option are physical, they are effectively out of the fight thanks to recall. No boomerangs and regular arrow can get close, though flame rods and light arrows still could.
(technically the magic armour in totk only blocks a max of 9 damage, but you'd need to do 9 hearts worth of damage first)
(also yes hero of legend still has the best fighting chance against TotK link, but hero of legend is just OP period)
5:20 That ball shrine is possible and for the dumbest reason, just shoot a bomb flower at it and it will activate the button, this goes for all buttons ( Those yellow shrine buttons) for its easy to cheese shrines.

It doesn’t give the master sword to you to make the fight easier, it is straight up required to kill the eyes, every other weapon does almost no damage to the eyes

You can get batteries by the robot at the rise shrine thats how i got them in my first playthrough

16:21 I’ll figure out a way to beat the game without any abilities one day (I figured out how to beat the plateau runeless in botw in December 2020). After the GSI it doesn’t seem like any abilities are actually required.
I've been theory-crafting that run actually, I expect to have a video out on it in a few weeks but it will be extremely difficult, and also require glitches
@@Drengodr It should be simple. GSI should be possible with zuggle overload and if on 1.1.2 then perhaps arrow smuggling. If you allow the use of the ‘L’ button you can also use the infinite height glitch through the use of the ability wheel.

I think the biggest question about this is why did you start a challenge run before you've done all the dungeons I'm not saying you have to 100% the game but like that's most of the story
you should've gotten autobuild because the schema stones don't require you to use ultrahand
I considered it, but doesn't the game require you to build something with Ultrahand right after you get it, so then you can copy it with Autobuild? Also, I don't think it would've been very useful overall

I guess Ultrahand wasn't very handy for this run.
