Convexed edges done on a belt in many cases are not very sharp, it’s so easy toover buff them, and if your standards of sharp are done on stones a belt sharpened convex is very disappointing, and at a high angle like this one seemed is just not made for sharpness, so what I’m confused by is why ? Why do an edge built for toughness like a high angle convexed edge on a knife that’s clearly for edc not for chopping. As I say sometimes make it make sense. So a knife can perform for it’s intended use

Note to Knives by Nuge: Do Not mess with Erica. Real bad idea all around, nothing to be gained. Hey Erica, you could add a Big Boi Wicket Scandi to you collection for only $415.00...

Knifemakers are the worst. I supported a knifemaker everyone loves thru patreon other products for years beofre they got good at making. He said he would do this and that for early supporters for day 1s but nope. Stopped following thru on all promises. Started saying we don't know what we are talking about. Books closed but people I know that are big on social media kept getting pieces. After that I was done. Go see Mr. Calton the best knifemaker ever greatest person ever really cares loves his community and is just what we deserve!

Oh man so you got Jeff Davidson Gecko-ed with that KnivesByNuge Wicket purchase hahaha!! You KNOW that I feel your pain!! That totally sucks, but you have to admit that it's kind of hilarious that some of these custom knife makers can't take even a tiny bit of constructive criticism about their knive's failures, immediately turn into immature big baby man children, and block you on all social media!!! Like, WTF?!? You can't even TALK about it??? What are you, 12 years old??? They should be doing the healthy, productive thing and opening up a dialogue which would probably improve your damn knives in the long runl!!! Jeez, talk about a run-on sentence lol!!! TLDR: knife makers should be held accountable for shoddy ass work!!! No one likes being Gecko-ed for $300!!!! LOL!!! It's always so relaxing watching you sharpen, Slater!!! You make it look so easy omg!!! Your inclusive, positive, productive outlook on life gets the win today because it's beautiful!!!🙌 Thanks for another great video, Erica!!!! 🧡❤🔥

You made me cringe when you pulled the edge across the stone. I know you don't like Chinese made knives, but I have the Civivi Stormridge in NITRO-V. Haven't had to sharpen it yet, only had very light use. Could use a little more handle length and girth, but... I hope you can do the thing that makes you happy and fulfilled, as a career. I did 20 years 6 months and 14 days in the Navy. Mostly miserable. But I got a half decent retirement out of it. Good luck. Thanks for this video.

Great job on the sharpening. Best of luck going for your dreams. Sometimes you have to burn the boats and just keep moving forward with no looking back. God bless you and your family.

Hey Erica, I also commented on this knife under your last video. Of course it's annoying that you lost this money, but not the experience. See this knife as a reminder for future knife purchases, it will pay off later. Grettings Stefan 😎.

Good morning, Erica. Question from someone inexperienced in knife steels: Will this knife be good to go once you sharpen it, or will you forever have issues with that knife? I'm currently deciding about my first edc fixed blade. My steel choices are Nitro V or 80CR20. Do you have any videos that reference 80CR20? Thanks.

I've often wondered why a good folding pocketknife with many parts and a need for precision in assembly might cost $200-$250 and a fixed blade of the same overall length might cost the same. A fixed blade is one piece of steel with far less precision put into the process. It seems like fixed blades should be significantly cheaper than folding knives.

Idk if you have any experience with CNC machines, I happen to have several 3D printers, a CNC mill and a CNC router that I built myself as well as a laser cutter/engraver, and while I am certainly not a "knife maker", I have made knives and handles from scratch. Traditional knife making and machining are for sure two completely different skillsets, I can say from experience that the latter is not any less work or skillful, its just different. From machines needing service and calibration every few work hours, custom tooling needs to be made , every job has alot of setup, you need to stock up on expensive wear parts and end mills before starting a big job... and all that is before you even get to the hours and hours that goes into 3D modelling in CAD then more hours perfecting tool paths in CAM.

Wait wait wait. I thought steels like AEB-L perform better with a finer edge. I believe, All the cut tests I’ve seen by Cedric and Ada (and others but I forget their names) suggest that the only steels that really benefit from toothy edges are super high carbide knives like M4 and above. At least in their testing with Cecil rope. I could be wrong though. I know the finer edges can feel dull as they aren’t as “bitey” as toothy edges but they will still cut paper and shave hair. Not saying that’s what happened here just in general.

Erica when you bought that knife did the maker say it was 60 61? Apex alcemy is doing free rockwell testing just send him the knife. He has been doing daily videos of teating different knives. That way you know what the actual rockwell is?
