It was the slowest show I ever saw in my life. I was watching tiktok and doing online shopping while watching the series and still did not miss any details. The director was making every single word and the slightest reaction to take forever. You will need to take sleeping pills to keep you calm and not break your screen out of despair.
As a director I woud've to focused everything on Mitsuki and her relationship with her lover, turning the story into a personal journey with universal implications. Such an approach would have been much more captivating and would have provided the opportunity for emotional development, epic sci-fi moments, and a strong connection between the audience and the main character. Instead of wasting time and budget on boring subplots and unnecessary characters, they could have built a clear narrative thread: Mitsuki and the mothership: Mitsuki could have a unique connection with the aliens - discovering codes, messages, or even a psychic link (like Arrival). She could be the only one who can communicate with them, and that would have added a layer of tension. Relationship with the lover: Imagine how emotional it would have been to discover that her lover is somehow "absorbed" or part of the alien intelligence. The intense scenes where Mitsuki meets her in another form would have been moments of maximum charge. Visual exploration: That forest of lights was one of the best scenes visually, but it could have been expanded. Why not turn the series into a mix of sci-fi story and gorgeous visual mysteries? Images of motherships, alien landscapes, mysterious symbols gradually deciphered all centered on Mitsuki. Gradual progress: Instead of being chaotic, each episode could have added a clear piece to the puzzle: communication with aliens, discovery of a hidden truth, personal sacrifices that would make her even more heroic. Such a focus would have also allowed for better special effects because there would have been no need to show 100 subplots from all kinds of corners of the world. The simple but deep story, with only a few characters, would have been much more effective.
Unfortunately yes. Everyone’s like little toddlers now where they need something going on every second or else they get bored and lose interest. It’s really sad
Who has the short attention span? Whatever happened to the retiring Sheriff? He got whacked in the back of the head by something. The story line was just forgotten.
Maybe I need to give it one more chance. I am a scifi fan and the first episode was so boring I couldn’t finish it. I heard Silo was a good scifi show and the trailer looks good. Once I finish the series See, I need to pick one of them.
@@jon6309 Couldn't agree more, same, couldn't stand the boringness of it. I'll go and look at Silo. Where is another season of 'The Expanse', now that is some seriously well written Sci-Fi.
The show definitely is slow in more ways than one. There are often times when a character is doing something boring like walking and there's a full minute scene about it, or making expressions way too long, they definitely could've cut many minutes off each episode. The length of the episodes varies, sometimes it's 50 minutes, sometimes 35. 70% of the first season we only get the slightest hints and teases about the aliens. It only started getting interesting in the last 3 or so episodes. The second season was much improved, felt like they heard the feedback and we get a full focus on the aliens and the pacing is fast. I enjoyed the second season a lot, but it ended on a cliffhanger, will have to see how good the 3rd season is. It's definitely not a show I would recommend to everyone. I get why people say it's boring, because for like 7episodes it kinda is, it improves a lot in the second season. So ask yourself if you have the patience and time to get through the mediocre first season until you get to the interesting part.
So much potential and a missed opportunity for a phenomenal series. A lot of drama and not much sci-fi, very slow plot, so many building to climax music and then nothing happens, the music is is migraine inducing and it drains out important dialogue. I was really hoping for something special.
I found the majority of the series is low light, low contrast. I watch up until E7. After watching E5-E7 the low light darkness, the inability to see details plus, my own vision problems, I became inpatient asking myself if I should continue and why, do I continue.
@@franklopeziilmtmti603I have 4K Sony with Apple TV. This show did not work with the dark scenes. I could not not get my TV to display it correctly. Glad I am not the only one!
It is a watchable series, and it's definitely not for the new era of fast-morons. It does take time to build.... which makes you more invested in the very well acted characters.
I'm at episode 8 and Indeed too much for nothing.....they are dragging the scene for nothing maybe it's a matter of making it emotional or esthetically "anticlimatic". I was just annoyed at the built up for nothing during most episode......
I'm on episode 8 of season 1 and I've finally decided I'm not wasting any more time waiting on this series. To be sure, there are a few (very few) scenes that were worth watching and that moved the story line along. But there are also so many pointless jumps between trivial story arcs, each one more tedious and pointless than the last, that I spend just as much time fast-forwarding as I do watching. So far, they've managed to tell, in 8 episodes, a story that could have been told in 3. All the rest is filler. I've watched it this long because so few good scifi series have been released lately. I was hoping if I stuck with this one long enough, it would finally take off. It never did. I no longer believe that it ever will. To boat rocker films, if this is rocking the boat, I understand why such behavior is ill-advised.
Apple has taken the prescription of all the others and is taking stories you can tell in 2 hours and turning them into 20 hour series so they can sell commercials . These shows progress so slowly with all the nonsense they have to add to make them long that I can hardly stay interested.
Too freaking slow. Aliens only mainly seen in the 5th episode. Can omit the school kids part. In shows such as this focus on the aliens . Max 3 characters. Beginning to feel like a drama
the show was a full on waste of time- seasons, it wasnt just the slowness, is the slowness with occasional tiny movement wiht hint things were about to pick up. i felt like they borrowed some ideas from Falling Skies in terms of building drama/suspense into it - not in the good ways
Slow burn x 10 with wrist slashing music throughout. Mostly just drawn-out miserable drama, soap opera, masquarading as sci-fi. Like watching War of the Worlds padded out over 20 hours. The only excellent (and caucasian) actor, Sam Neill, was written out in the first episode. Season two is full of immature, wrongly casted actors and feels like Stranger Things with a hangover in a swimming pool. First series where I fast-forwarded 80% and literally missed nothing.
So every man in the first episodes is weak and a loser. More like woke invasion. Yet everything works thanks to other millions of men o keep the world turning. Great 👍 what a great portrait for young sci fi fans 🙃

Ive watch on the trailer and im done. Because of the comment section. Thank you guys for not wasting time...
How contemptuous. Just watch the show then judge it.
So you don’t think for yourself. Ok cool
i don't understand how people can find the first few episodes boring? has everyone's attention span been fried by tiktok? the pacing is just fine

No, the show is just poorly made. A slow pacing can work very well, but it doesn't here.
On EP 3 trying to force myself to like it to keep watching 😮💨
its ok once it gets going

Seriously doubt this show touches "The Expanse" and the reviews seem to suggest it's more drama filler with a tint of sci-fi than anything else.
When is season 3 coming ? Love the show
Good series. You can take notes of all the things the "doctor" woman does that you shouldn't and things she doesn't do that you should.
