    • @stefanovaccaro7806
      @stefanovaccaro7806 2 месяца назад

      I think no, Soderling is very different, much personal ,very wide opening and high elbow. Backhand little more similiar, but Robin anticipated better especially versus high ball! But the power of the shots are very closer to Robin

      The backhand is very Soderling, they set up their shots so well for unleashing max power..
      Everyone was shocked the way Soderling overpowered Nadal during FO, people were predicting a great future with his style of play ... he also beat Federer at FO the next year ... sadly he soon became so ill with a serious version of Mononucleosis that he had to retire from the sports ....
      Soderling definitely was one of the best players during that period, but is sadly very forgotten now ...

      FO short for French Open ....
      Yes, the way Soderling beat Nadal during 2009 FO was the first time I've seen a tennis player absolutely smack every ball that comes his way ....
      I think the reason why Soderling's is able to smash at will against Nadal during that FO is because Nadal's high bouncing ball rises right into Soderling's higher than usual hit zone.
      Against other players whose shots comes a lot lower, Soderling cannot smash, he has to resort to other ways to return which is less powerful ...
      Nadal is able to recognise that, during the next FO, Nadal flattens his shots while changing his angles which successfully avoided Soderling's constant bullying of his high bouncing balls ... and Nadal won ... I've always admired Nadal's ability to figure a way to deal with difficult opponents, unless he's feelig unwell of course ...

    Except Nadal's usual movement speed and usual power on his shots, all the other qualities are intact and on target. His competitive spirit, His performance on critical points, His ability to comeback, His ability to find corners with his forehand down the line and his "VAMOS" are all there.
    If he continues to create chances, he will surely convert one. I thought he was playing well at the French too. Zverev had to play his best to beat him. Can they play their best every time ? NO. Can Nadal play like this every time ? YES !!
    Hoping to see him win few more tournaments
