Current building The Old World, Oathmark and I’m going to throw another in the mix… Hobgoblin! I really like how Hobgoblin lets you build what you want.
3:45 God, those old Chaos Spawn are lovely. A low-slung, almost crocodilian body, from which all manner of nasty appendages sprout. So nasty, so great. I've been wanting to scratch build my own Chaos Spawn from oven-bake clay and whatever spare parts I have on hand. I'm going to have a ton more bits left over this year, from all the crowdfunds I've supported. Might be a good time to do it.
Love older sculpts over the overly detailed "realistic" modern sculpts, they have their own charm to them. Plus you could use this army in Oathmark and proxy them as Orcs or something (I wrote this before you said that in the video lol)
The Old World’s 2024 models include metal models. My old metal model armies are going in/on round bases. The skirmish rules and not having core requirements make AoS preferable for metal Beasts of Chaos models. Most metal Beasts of Chaos are bestigor, so it is difficult to build an 8th edition metal army.
I'm not sure, I collected a lot of this metal while playing a spot of AoS but given the choice of regular games I'd rather play 8th. I have far more Gor currently than bestigore, enough for a full 8th style horde if I wanted.
Nice - definitely interested in The Old World - I dropped out of the hobby for many years and 3rd edition was was the last version of WFB that I played. I have a lot of the more modern plastic beastmen that I used in Dragon Rampant when I got back into playing games a few years ago, I'll be repurposing them for The Old World I guess (but I don't think I'll be rebasing anything to the new sizes, pretty sure no one in my group will care too much about it).
Lovely Perry Beastmen. I only have a handful (though I have all the character, champion and command models strangely) with about 10 of the Gor making up part of my 6th edition Beasts army, and the handful of Ungor not making an appearance at all. In fairness, the rare times that army sees the table they tend to get dropped as the 2xHW option is objectively better in-game and so I tend to use my plastics. I am considering pulling them from the army as I have a collection of 5th edition models (which these were from too of course) including 12 Hounds, 32 Chaos Warriors, 10 Chaos Knights, 30 Marauders and 5 marauder horsemen that I was planning on doing a 5th edition style army with (with goblin green base rims and all) to use in 5th/6th and ToW.
@@ScruffyCrow Centigor? I've only got 5 of those, plus the Mordheim one. I've got one of each Chariot too (the 5th ed one with the Gor and Bestigor on it, and the 6th one with the Ungor and Bestigor) - nice to not have two identical models.
Happy New Year! I'm really excited to see you working on a beastmen army, I've been slowly building one myself recently mostly using old minis and the Warmonger beastmen. I'm interested in The Old World but I'm more excited for the return of classic models then I am the game itself.
selling my old citadel beatmen on ebay at the mo, pains me to do so but im focusing in on Empire stuff this year. Wonderful army idea:D so hyped for the old world x
Nice! I love the old beastmen models. I was curious about checking out the Old World, the books sold out in moments on my end, though. Lately I have had a very strange wild hair to dive into 3rd edition. I printed out some "The Barbarians" minis by Celtic Miniatures (nice old hammer-y vibe) and proceeded to base them on 20mm squares. Then I read the lists for chaos warriors in 3rd, and they are supposed to be based on 25mm. Oops.
I got a pre order from my local store so I should be ok, it is weird they sold out of the main book though, I'd have thought they'd want that in as many hands as possible day one.
I love the old beastmen models. Back in the day I bought a bunch of the metal gors and since they were smaller than the newly released gors I tried turning them into ungors and cut all the weapons off :/ Maybe youll inspire me to finish off my beastmen finally.
This is awesome! Love that old hordes of chaos book.
Me too!

I backed the Kickstarter for a rulebook
Awesome. Always loved beastmen. Looking forward to your progress

You and Johnny got me into Oathmark! Good to see an army used across multiple game systems!
Very cool I have just started a beastmen army

Yeah I think they fit fairly well as Orcs and Goblins.
@@ScruffyCrow gor definitely as Orcs cos they're all big and muscular, ungor as goblins cos they're more diminutive and act more like skirmish troops

Sweet models and a great project idea. I'm looking forward to more videos.
Amazing old minis. Looking forward to seeing your progress

If it becomes an issue, you can always stick them on a larger movement tray.
@@Bluecho4 Yeah, it's the ones on 32mm that are giving me slight pause, but I'm not going to worry about it!
Your army projects are always a treat to watch. Can't wait to see the various works in progress video :D

Sounds like a cool plan, I do love these 5th edition guys, there will be some 6th edition stuff making an appearance in the next 500pts though

Exactly that, centigors and a chariot maybe some newer hounds

@@ScruffyCrow Yeah, I was very surprised to see the core rules vanish like that.
yes a conundrum, I haven't managed to even order the rules yet but I have oathmark sitting right here

I hope to see another victrix chariot conversion 😁
dude i had the same problem finding those bases. will you be selling your bases in the future?
Probably not but once I give them another test I'll put the files on Thingiverse.
While I love the Sculpts from Oldworld, I m gonna stick with Oathmark, Just never was a fan of GW game systems.
That's fair, they are definitely quite different, more than I'd really remembered as I guess I've come via KoW.
dude drink some water. Your throat sounds like its sticking together
