Went to bingin first time 1993. Was a little late compared to this. So thankful to surf there in the 90s before it got over developed. 70s must of been absolute heaven there!!
Wow....I showed up around the same time it was magical back then... here I am laying in the air conditioner in Kuta Beach it's March 24 2024... Thinking about the old days back then surfing at uluwatu..nothing was out there then.. now the whole Cliff is covered with fancy hotels.... People who don't even surf go out there to vacation and stay at the fancy places... What does it mean there are just so many people on this earth now....🤔 ...
its still magical, you just gotta explore. same as these dudes did in the 1970s. Indonesia has thousands of miles of unexplored coastline that is teeming with surfable waves. even on Bali, there are still uncrowded waves, you just have to look (and avoid staying in Kuta, lol)
Almost anyone who was surfing in the 1970s tends to see it as the golden age. Improved equipment, lots of unexplored places and manageable crowds.

Unfortunately the surf industry and social media’s has ruined the place some how on attracting the wrong ones and over crowded the place ..
