There’s got to be some space somewhere in the north Bronx or south Brooklyn. Maybe even Staten Island? Although I imagine that would be a logistical nightmare for fans.
Sounds a lot like my SJ Earthquakes. When we came back as an expansion team in 2008, we played in a small college stadium and occasionally at the Oakland Coliseum which is a baseball/american football stadium. Granted the stadium’s hosted soccer games in the past but that’s not the point. Also DG should find a new venue for New england. Yet that hasnt happened yet
As a San Jose Earthquake supporter I can say that having a soccer/ football specific stadium makes a huge difference plus there's more pride for your team and City, it makes it complete because you have a home of your own, not being second or third fiddle to baseball and football teams stadiums and just to play in a great pitch and grass. New York with such a huge market would definitely benefit. Also New England and a few others deserve it too. Also MLS is or has gotten too big to continue with expansion teams and with no soccer specific stadiums waters down the league and you won't get great young potential players from Europe or South America to come over and play, unless they will start to implement Relegation.
i find it idiotic that a club owned by corrupt oil barons can't just pay up the fees required and is asking for public funding. Just pay that shit from your own pockets. It will cost you, but you will profit from it.
New York City FC needs to build their own Soccer stadium and they need to do it in the city, and if they can do that, not only will the value of the team sky rocket but if they do rebrand as the Cosmos in their new stadium, then the league itself is going to Sky rocket in value. but unfortunately the rebranding part probably won’t happen, but I hope they do get their stadium in one of the Burroughs and hopefully turn into the MSG of MLS as well.
Rhodd I know they’re still playing but the ownership could maybe buy NYCFC and rebrand them and then turn them into the official New York Cosmos and then the other team could New York Cosmos 2 or so kind of similar to what the sounders do with their minor league team in Tacoma.
How about a video on conference divisions with the next rounds of expansion? Will we remain at 2 with only a few cross-conf. games, or only face the other conf. in the final? What about 3 or 4 conf.?
1. There is no "technically" about the red bulls playing in jersey. This isn't a matter of some disputed boundary point or that it's just outside of nyc. It's jersey. deep into jersey. One stop away from Newark, Jersey. 2. Yes, as sad as it is that nycfc plays in a baseball stadium, they still play WITHIN nyc. I would not support them otherwise. 3. We won the cup after 7 years (...of playing in a baseball stadium). The red cows and their nice, empty stadium?
I thought it would work if they got with Columbia University to upgrade and share their stadium. Then I learned the field is named after Robert Kraft. So much for that.
Veronica Jackson I’m not. I don’t like that. Less teams = more competition. SANZAAR found that out with Super Rugby, hence why they cut Cheetahs, Southern Kings, and Western Force
NYCFC fan here. I agree with the the idea that ideally the club needs a legitimate soccer pitch of their own but the expectation for them to be able to have one legitimately in NYC is absurd at this point when it comes to popularity of the MLS in America at this point. It's reasonable to be playing in Harrison NJ like the Red Bulls. But at the same time it shouldn't be held against the club for not having their own stadium in NYC at the moment
I like the team but it’s a weird experience watch the game in a baseball stadium, hope one day my Nycfc has they own stadium in New York ( not in jersey o ct)
The location for new stadiums are terrible. Soulless parking lot dead zones. Flushing Meadows near the Unisphere would be awesome if that area would allow residential and commercial buildings like Wembley Stadiums neighborhood is. Being next to Arthur Ashe Stadium is also a good look on a global scale.
The Flushing Meadows (not Flushing Airport) proposal was not acceptable because the site was next a superfund site as well as an indoor swimming pool/skating rink that was built to replace two facilities from the 1939 World’s Fair. It also would have caused the removal of several soccer fields used by rec leagues. Given the controversy surrounding the expansion of the BJK Tennis Center in the 1990s, giving up even more parkland to a commercial sporting enterprise was not feasible.
I don't mean to sound like a die hard Yankee/NYCFC fan, but did everyone forget where the Oakland Raiders, San Jose Earthquakes and Oakland A's played at? The city of Oakland has been wanting to get rid of that piece of shit stadium for a decade, and the A's are about to go in another few years.
Edson Pacheco why do you say that? The largest facility Cosmos have played at seats only 11k, hardly meeting MLS requirements. They’d have the same issues siting a new stadium that NYCFC has had.
I went to their games in their debut season, I really wanted to like the team but first they played like shit and going to the stadium was shit. It didn’t give me the football experience... soo you are right on when talking about how you feel like wtf is this once the game Is done
This is a great video, As an englishman who has attendeed games at Yankee Stadium and Red Bull Arena i think NYCFC need to have a 'home'. But......I prefered my matchday experience at Yankee Stadium more than Red Bull Arena. Better atmosphere, enviroment and overall enjoyment.....John
Well, since grass is not mandatory in professional football(soccer) in the US, I guess an American Football stadium would be more suitable for NYCFC, rather than an a baseball stadium. In fact, some MLS teams already do it: VAN Whitecaps or Seattle Sunders for example. They will probably reduce costa as Yankees own part of the team but from a fan perspective, it doesn't look right
They might as well just play at RBA. easier to get to than Metlife and cheaper to rent. When the Metrostars were at the old Giants Stadium they had to pay $250K per game. Im sure that fee is atleast doubled by now.
I think they should at least for now share Red Bull Arena, at least it's a SSS... But they should probably build their stadium in Staten Island or New Rochelle/Mount Vernon/Yonkers. Yea I know Staten Island isn't the best option but at the end of the day, it's part of New York City and there's definitely land there unlike in Manhattan. And New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, and Yonkers is right outside of the Bronx. It's not that far. They've tried and failed too many time in the Bronx and Queens. And right now beggars can't be choosers. I agree with you 100%. Playing in Yankee Stadium is hurting their attendance and it's just bad for the league.
I need to got to a game at yankee stadium, a 'soccer game' and a visit to yankee satdium in one... Sounds great as a neutral, understandably as a fan it would be annoying.
One of the biggest annoyances of using public funding is the fact that the team is OWNED the the UAE Royal Family. They have the money, in fact they have more money than anyone. The funny thing is that their new approved stadium is in Queens which was the best location and they're paying for it 100% themselves with no public funding. It's almost as if using your oil money was the solution the entire time.
And here we are almost 2 seasons on, and nothing has changed. And the bad part of all this is: It was all eminently foreseeable. Anyone who watched the Metrostars/RB fight for a stadium over a decade to no avail knew the score. Anyone who has seen this same thing play out in cities around the world *knows* how hard it is to get City councils to give up prime downtown real estate for a stadium in any sport. Let alone soccer. And the more dense the city, the harder it is. This was a Garber vanity project. And ok, given everything he's done for the league, he gets a pass on it. But NYCFC, by the rules he laid out, never had any business being created.
They would have let the Cosmos in, that would have been awesome. Can you do a video about the use of Astro Turf in the MLS? I don't think they should not allow it.
wasn’t there a soccer game between real and atletico Madrid in MetLife? I’m not educated in these type of things but why don’t they move to MetLife? I’m sure they tried but what’s the reason behind that?
I feel like its because met life is in jersey and they're already shitting on NYRB for playing in jersey (despite the fact that NYRB has its OWN stadium). Tbh, I personally am tired of teams claiming NY and playing in NJ. Its just stupid to me, but that's probably hey. They wanna keep the team in NY.
I'm going to be completely honest, as an American and a Yankee fan I never really paid attention to MLS until NYCFC came into existence. I believe playing in Yankee Stadium helped NYCFC significantly grow their fanbase, allowing for it to be the "Yankees of MLS". New York is, as far as I know, the only major media market where baseball is the most watched sport, so tying the soccer team so closely to the baseball team helped them more than any individual-tenant stadium could have. I have only gone to one NYCFC and I will admit it's because they are owned by the Yankees and play in Yankee Stadium, a place I frequent during the baseball season. It's a sub-optimal situation, I'm aware, but this was the best way to get fans into the seats, at least initially.
I'm a Sounders fan but I feel for you fans in NYC. I'm beginning to think that the best bet is for the Yankees to sell its interest in NYCFC to the owners of the NHL's New York Islanders and have a soccer stadium built in Nassau County on Long Island.
I’m 4 years late to this video, but why not just play in Met Life Stadium until the new stadium is built. It’s big for an MLS stadium, but it’s better than playing in a baseball stadium.
caroline hare the next expansion team and the owner of the Panthers said he will change the Panther stadium or whatever it's called to revamp the stadium to include soccer facility and also inter Miami cf St Louis FC Nashville Fc are fighting to build the soccer-specific stadium does that mean those who hate soccer are beginning to fight back saying no to ever location for soccer Stadium not to be built here I think so American who hate soccer being played in the US also trying to close down for good
Columbia University’s in Manhattan. Maybe they can get with the university to renovate and share the stadium? NYCFC can play in the city, and the Columbia Lions can lose in better surroundings. Win win.
It would be nice if NYCFC plays their home games at Red Bull Arena, instead of tearing up the field at Yankees Stadium, which btw it's not really fit for soccer to be played there and the atmosphere of a soccer field being blended in a baseball stadium is very weird. Btw, what's the name of this song?
Can you make a video for noobs explaining the MLS rules, the draft etc? Not for me of course, I know all about the delegated players and the megadraft and the supporters cup etc, but for the uninitiated.

I wouldn't be bothered by this if this was a USL Championship, League One, or NISA team, but this is one of the biggest markets in our top league
SB92 They had/have a plan for a 25k capacity, soccer specific stadium but have been unable to find a suitable site. They had several possibilities including ones in Queens and the Bronx, but every potential site they’ve located has fallen through.
@@seamus1956 that's nyc liberal democrat bs!

New Revolution Stadium!
We're looong overdue!!! I think they should build it in the Seaport!!!
There’s no room in NYC I play for the academy and they’re trying to find a area
Thank you so much I needed someone to make this video 🙏🏾
It’s no coincidence that Kansas City also played in a ballpark for 3 years and got it’s own stadium.
They also played at arrowhead when Kauffman wasn't available.
@@zscout370 KC never played at Kauffman. They played at a minor league ballpark. But before playing in a minor league ballpark, they played at Arrowhead.
As a Revs fan, the only positive about NYCFC playing in Yankee Stadium is it allows the Revolution to not have the worst stadium situation in the league.

@@leoh__ lol c'mon Leo. Your teams field isn't even regulation size. Half of your games were played in a rival teams stadium.

@@kvalukis it’s bigger than that of some clubs in the prem like molineaux
I am a FC Barcelona season ticket holder. Also a huge baseball fan and amateur player here in Barcelona. I think that playing soccer in yankee stadium would be one of the coolest things ever hahahaha
please make a video on the cosmos and the fight for pro rel because they are tied into it
There’s got to be some space somewhere in the north Bronx or south Brooklyn. Maybe even Staten Island? Although I imagine that would be a logistical nightmare for fans.
WE GOT THE STADIUM LETS GO
This is why clubs shouldn't be let into MLS unless they have a stadium plans ready to go.
As a redbull fan hope they stay there. It's great ! Lol :) I actually live in the Bronx but gotta stay loyal and Yankee stadium soccer is not ideal
NYCFC: We’re now MLS Cup winners! Can we get our own venue now?
Yankees: Mmmmm….. no.
I wish the MLS would play more games in Hartford. Like an exhibition game between the Revs and the Red Bull’s or something.
We just won the cup and we play in a baseball stadium.
i find it idiotic that a club owned by corrupt oil barons can't just pay up the fees required and is asking for public funding. Just pay that shit from your own pockets. It will cost you, but you will profit from it.
This guy probably ever hear or seen where the raiders played .. 🤫😂
And also do a video about the 2007 red bulls vs galaxy game where David Beckham played in MetLife stadium
PNWS&P 21st Century you know the cosmos are still around and playing right?
It's finally happening!
Yonkers raceway was the move but got mobbed up with electronic gambling so it's over
I thought it would work if they got with Columbia University to upgrade and share their stadium. Then I learned the field is named after Robert Kraft. So much for that.
I mean from what I heard land is at a premium in New York
Being that the Yankees own 20% I disagree .
Need another video on this topic in when it finally happens
I don’t give a shit about MLS, but this channel is really good. Big ups my man.
looking at yankee's stadium in i mean why is it in that condition the ground is worse even i won't play on it the stadium needs to be built asap
I'm all in for mls expanding to 30 teams! Just telling you!
Veronica Jackson I’m not. I don’t like that. Less teams = more competition. SANZAAR found that out with Super Rugby, hence why they cut Cheetahs, Southern Kings, and Western Force
Why not 40 teams and 2 divisions? 20 teams per division and with promotion and relegation would be great
NYCFC fan here.
There’s rumors that a temporary stadium is going to be built on Randell’s Island
I don't mean to sound like a die hard Yankee/NYCFC fan, but did everyone forget where the Oakland Raiders, San Jose Earthquakes and Oakland A's played at? The city of Oakland has been wanting to get rid of that piece of shit stadium for a decade, and the A's are about to go in another few years.
well there have been talks of nycfc getting there very own stadium and it's about freaking time
All this could've been avoided if they had brought back the Cosmos instead
Edson Pacheco why do you say that? The largest facility Cosmos have played at seats only 11k, hardly meeting MLS requirements. They’d have the same issues siting a new stadium that NYCFC has had.
Heading into their 7th season with no stadium. It really is embarrassing.
They will probably reduce costa as Yankees own part of the team but from a fan perspective, it doesn't look right
Makea vídeo about the inportance of the 2021 FIFA club world Cup for MLS teams
what about met life stadium? i mean that could be the answer right?
It would be embarrassing to play in NJ so we have to stick to our word
How do you feel about Roman Torres coming back and winning mls cup unlike Ricardo clark
I feel you Brother! ⚽⚽⚽⚽
Aren't they building a stadium for a team in the usl in queens? I could be way off
Danny we won an MLS Cup before the Red Bulls and their soccer specific stadium lol
What they got to do is play in MetLife Stadium.
No
They might as well just play at RBA. easier to get to than Metlife and cheaper to rent. When the Metrostars were at the old Giants Stadium they had to pay $250K per game. Im sure that fee is atleast doubled by now.
Sergio Delgado never
As an nycfc fan I wouldn’t mind if they build in the suburbs we need to move out of yankee stadium
Have they look into expanding Icahn stadium?
Way to small
BUT... every other ownership group had to have a stadium plan in place before being awarded a team.
Watching them play a play off game in a baseball field in 2022
Ask city group to pay for a stadium. God knows they have the money for it.
as a 5 stripe fan when we play nycfc we was going wtf the turf needs upgrade like really bad at yankee stadium
I'm a Sounders fan but I feel for you fans in NYC. I'm beginning to think that the best bet is for the Yankees to sell its interest in NYCFC to the owners of the NHL's New York Islanders and have a soccer stadium built in Nassau County on Long Island.
5:52 that’s why we(RBNY) Play in Jersey 🥱
Lmao this was 2 years ago
You know what piss me off the 2026 world cup final is in a football stadium
I wonder know why they build the stadium so small? That's turn me off.
Haha I’m in the shot from the game at the Uconn stadium. Also have you ever been to a Hartford athletic game and if so what did you think?
I’m 4 years late to this video, but why not just play in Met Life Stadium until the new stadium is built. It’s big for an MLS stadium, but it’s better than playing in a baseball stadium.
caroline hare the next expansion team and the owner of the Panthers said he will change the Panther stadium or whatever it's called to revamp the stadium to include soccer facility and also inter Miami cf St Louis FC Nashville Fc are fighting to build the soccer-specific stadium does that mean those who hate soccer are beginning to fight back saying no to ever location for soccer Stadium not to be built here I think so American who hate soccer being played in the US also trying to close down for good
What's really fucked up is that they have to play their first CCL Match in Red Bull Arena. What a joke of a Franchise NYCFC is.
because the mayor's office (big bird)
You’re a Fire fan? My sincere condolences.
