    It’s a 1992 System!

  • @johncspine2787

Company called “Sameday” heating and air bought out the company that installed my (fabulous) mini split, they’re buying up lots of independent dealers in the area. I asked them (cause I thought I had to go through my original company for warranty, but that’s actually through Mitsubishi, not them, luckily) anyway to come out and do a yearly maintenance/start up for the summer mini split and my Trane furnace. They pulled a classic “you have a crack in your heat exchanger” scam! Called another guy, he came out less than two hours later, removed the back of the furnace, we visualized the entire exchanger..it looked pristine..he examined it also with a scope on the undersides we couldn’t get to, and we both felt the entire thing..the other guys made some kind of mark probably by scuffing it with their camera. I feel badly for older people that get scammed like this, they wanted 3700 to “replace” the heat exchanger, or they could quote “for a brand new system cause that might be the way to go.” Keep up your great, honest work!

@@jessemartinez566 no leak..just a yearly check/startup before summer for the Mitsubishi, and a “put to bed” maintenance for the furnace so I get a clean start up next year. I mistakenly thought I “had” to do it to stay in warranty..I have a 12 year warranty! They even did a flue gas check no CO and still were recommending repair/replacement..total scumbags. I heard them talking, one was training another guy, he said “we don’t clean that unless they’re members,” turns out that was the igniter (which they didn’t think was necessary to clean for a super duper inclusive maintenance check, the second guy I forgot to say who came out, I told him what they said and he pulled it out and cleaned it, and then he refused to take any money at..all..! I said he deserved at least a basic fee for coming out, pulling the ductwork to see the exchanger, using his scope etc he said for a second opinion he wouldn’t charge me, so I gave him a half dozen freshly laid eggs from my backyard girls!

In my town in Florida, you can't trust any of my A/C repair guys. They all end up saying you need a new compressor unit. I had to call this guy in the next town to get somebody I could trust. He came out with a $30 fee for gas and he fixed our unit for $390 not $1,900 like the others. The inline dryer had a leak and all of the Freon leaked out. He put a new dryer in and Ibs of new freon and also checked for leaks. It Works great now.

Destroyed by the valve core? That is an old one, replacement is probably the best route, but if it runs and that was the only leak, I would pay to have it charged up. You just never know.

LOL...not if the service port has a brass hex cap, it got wrenched down enough times to mushroom out that opening and schrader pin in it to win it! Braze it shut and use the common port that's already there, or braze a tap into the suction line when brazing in new reversible filter/drier. Or just $ell them new unit.
