I'm building a twin turbo 283 for my 75 Camaro and I need this trans for my car as the 4:56 gears kind of make it a in town car but that overdrive should save me. Your Camaro is awesome, keep on keepin on!
That’s a lot of gear for a turbo car, it will be hard to shift it fast enough to stay in boost. My mustang buddies go down to 3:08’s with turbo motors 😎
Hey i want to do the same to my 71 Chevelle and change out the z rod mechanical linkage. I have a super T-10 4 speed in there now. Two questions how much did the whole setup cost TKX and all new parts. Do you have a list of the parts? where did you source the TKX. I got different qutoes SST and another company and it varies. IF i keep my old bell housing to save money or should i just source all new parts?
Thank you for the information. I'm watching episode 19 now. You wife is a hoot! That lady has a sense of humor. Question for you. Can one change the leaf springs out one at a time? I really don't want to remove the entire rear end out of the car. Thanks
They are, but not worth the hassle if retrofitting to an older car. Those new 5spds will work fine with mechanical linkages. My 13 ZL1 has a hydraulic clutch…my 79 Z28 doesn’t. Both work just fine. I prefer the feel of a mechanical linkage, especially at the strip.
@@Trebor-gw8ltI have a cable clutch fox mustang with a very hard sintered iron clutch and pressure plate set up and it sucks for driving on the street in traffic. My old malibu was a 4 speed with the rod linkage and it also sucked with a performance clutch. If you prefer to hurt yourself with a stiff pedal for "simplicity", go ahead. Otherwise there are people who rather save their knees. Some of us have had knee surgery and still refuse to drive an auto
Machined while you waited.....wow...I thought those days were gone!!!! Lol
I was impressed 😎
Very nice install, I bet its a totally different feel with the 5spd setup. Great job Family's Garage.. Keep em coming brother.
Yes it the best mod we ever did!!!

We are a SST dealer. Most complete kits are around 5000-5500. If your original equipment is in good shape I would reuse it😎🤟🏻🇺🇸
Nice job, how much gas you think you saved with the extra gear on power tour?
With RPM dropping from 3000 to 1800 or so at 65…..ALOT 😂, we averaged 15 MPG with the tunnel ram 😎
@FamilysGarage that added up pretty quick on such a long trip. 15 MPG is good for a hot Z-28.
Hello Sir, Good video!! Can you tell me what gear ratio you have in the Camaro's rear end? Thank you.
3:73🤟🏻🤟🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸

That’s awesome!
Thank you 😎🤟🏻
I like the wheels. who makes them and what size are they?
Those are Cragar street tricks. They stopped making them in 2011 unfortunately ☹️

I would’ve kept the stock mechanical linkage and rebuilt it/replaced worn parts. No need to reinvent the wheel with that unnecessary hydraulic setup.
You must of never had a hydraulic clutch, they are amazing
