I stopped playing WoW after Draenor, because on one hand school got busy and on the other I just wasn't having fun anymore. I thought I could put this on in the background and just let it be good music, but as soon as enchanted forest came on I got lost in nostalgia. Maybe one day I'll be strong enough to listen to this and look back with only happy, content thoughts, but for now I must stop for fear of being trapped in what once was an amazing game that I sank thousands upon thousands of hours into. If anyone reads this far, I hope that whatever you choose to do in life, and whatever you choose to pursue, it is your choice and you made it willingly. I hope that you will all be able to look back at your past and your decisions and be content with what you've done, even if it isn't what could be considered the best course of action. Rest in peace vanilla WoW. Thank you for all the amazing people I interacted with and got to know.
The first time walking into stormwind, and actually realizing how huge and impressive this world is. Hearing that song play, is absolutely unforgetable
Now recall how there was basically a persistent world with no loading screens (except from when you switch landmass). The game was so ahead of its time it's crazy.
I'd say Classic WoW probably has the best soundtrack for any game ever made. Not just because the music is good but because each piece of music is expertly matched to the zone in which you hear it. When you walk into Westfall and hear that lamenting music, you can hear that the music is telling you a story about an area that was once rich farming land with happy farming families, but is now barren and taken over by thugs and despair. Same goes for every other zone. The music is perfectly matched to the ambiance and the lore of the zone.
For me it's a tight second one after Warcraft 3. The music there also matches the race/map/story you are playing and I find it musically just a tiny bit more intersting and diverse. Also I have a stronger emotional bond to W3.
This wasn't just a game, it was a work of art. Every inch of it was full of creative vision and a maverick love for fantasy. Well met, World of Warcraft.

I never understand that argument of growing old and not having the time for WoW anymore because youc an't raid anymore or whatever. It's so dumb actually, tbh. I work 12 hrs a day as an auditor at bgi4, married, kids. And still playing 1-2 hours, sometimes none, after work is relaxing as fuck. You can just play a game casually without going full end game try hard... Nothing relaxes me more sitting down with a fresh coffee, playing this game and listening to its sounds and music.

Incredible nostalgia. Undead rogue and orc shaman - Darksorrow EU PvP - late nights. I played rogue with an ud mage friend - he proceeded to go on raiding - nothing which I knew much of. I rather stayed in greens, looking for trouble in stranglethorn. That little adrenaline rush when fighting PvP and the enemies call their mates - no matter - I do what I do. Of course later more friends would start playing. Another close friend of mine had about the same ambitions as myself - hardcore PvP. Although I was a casual, PvP made something spark within. At one point we were all having x3 Undead rogues at 60 to then proceed into the dark portal. Although TBC could arguably be the best expansion in terms of progression & action - you may never get back those long days & nights in vanilla especially as a kid playing with your friends - an invaluable experience, the way we synced, sometimes clashed but worked together towards getting better. Friendship, experiences, intrigues, grief, fascination, melancholy in the world of warcraft.
Man, hearing this makes me remember when I played my Tauren hunter for the first time all those years ago. Getting to explore an area as big and open as Mulgore and just taking in the atmosphere was just something special. And I also remember all the stuff that used to happen at the Crossroads back then as well.
Remember the feeling you got when you put the headphones on and double clicked the desktop icon and the loading screen popped up, you typed that password in and pushed the button on your authenticator and in no time you were in IF or SW or maybe Undercity. God the early days of WoW were second to none. I played until BFA, haven’t played in 6 years now, but I think about it often.

so glad i was young and innocent enough to REALLY get wrapped up in WoW when it came out. i was sooo heavily into fantasy and games at the time and i discovered some of my favourite music through WoW vids and guildies. it really was a formative ingredient in who i became. i'd played plenty of RPGs before it came out. BG2 was my all time favourite. but getting into a 3D rpg with my mates from school was amazing. i vividly remember getting my first green item. i remember getting lost and dying trying to find the dead stormwind guards. i remember my friend who had played the beta taking us to deadmines and our epic slog through there. i remember him also taking us as lvl 19s on an epic cross-world journey all the way to ashenvale for a raid on splintertree outpost, where we saw a lvl 40 pala with a mount who led us in a charge. thinking back it's actually mad how much i remember of my original journey to 60. it kind of makes me cringe that a nerdy video game was such a big part of my youth but meh fuck it. better than sitting in the park drinking cheap cider with the other kids
Listening to this i feel like I am still playing wow classic during the lockdown days. I would love to play now but the game is so good/addictive that I cannot do what i want to in life and enjoy the game properly. I will always love wow classic and I bid my fellow wow classic adventurers on Zandalar Tribe great success!
1:26:45 Always reminded me of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Monster Hunter, .hack//, etc. It has a very rustic JRPG sound to it, some of the Tauren songs do too. I always liked that. Brings back so many memories. Back in 2005 I used to ride the Menethil harbor boat back and forth and walk around in the cabin just to hear that song. I was kind of sad when they changed the tune in burning crusade. Didn't quite have the same ring to it.

Played through classic and tbc classic, got to experience all end game content and had BiS sunwell gear for my enhance shammy, still I find myself thinking about the original classic experience and just how good it was. No expac will ever beat the original game
Expansions focus mostly on endgame. While having lots of improvements in classes and optimized gearing, classic just wins in terms of world, deeper focus on leveling progression and player interaction
I had the demo offline version that was like a beta in 2005, thing is I lived in Syria back then, I was just 10! and I had just finished Warcraft 3 and frozen throne, it was just Stormwind as an empty testing server and I had no quests or anything to do as we had to internet connection back then, I was in AWE as to the amount of details, choices, branches, and all in all how vast the game was and how warcraft finally could spread its wings, I never had the chance to finally play the game, life came in the way, the war and all, but just hearing the music now throws me on this roller-coaster of emotions of nostalgia and youth, I wish I was able to be part of this community ever since, but alas, some things are not meant to be Warcraft will always be part of my inner circle and the closest to my heart of all stories of the world
This soundtrack has to be my favourite of the all the time, but one thing I've noticed throughout all these years is that many tracks of the original soundtrack are repeated and reused for several situations, and that has always bugged me someway. So I decided to make an unofficial vanilla WoW soundtrack. The goal is to have it sound and feel very similar (if not exactly) to the original vanilla WoW soundtrack did. It will be a very difficult task but I'll do my best... I haven't started it yet (I planning on doing so tomorrow), so I'm accepting any ideas you guys may have. I'm looking for places, zones, characters, situations, questlines, etc. That don't have their own themes in the soundtrack yet. For example, I thought I could compose a theme for Van'Cleef (battle), or one for the crater of Dalaran (aside from the magical cue). I would really appreciate any suggestions. (Btw I don't mean this as self-advertisement. I don't even know if I will even release it publicly, well, unless I'm asked to. I just need ideas to begin with my project, thank you beforehand!)

For me it was the first time I scaled the steps to Ironforge. That great big entrance and then you step inside...breathtaking.
