My goodness, I am glad to see JR hop out of what's left of that race car! After getting tangled up with John Force yesterday this has been a rough weekend for JR. I am thankful JR and John are okay! 💥💨
Watched it live at the track. JR Todd smoke the tires, pedaled very aggressively twice super fast and just popped is blower. No oil down, but there was still the track clean up and safety checks. The last few years have been much better for NHRA in terms of delays from oil-downs. Sunday had only 1 incident that caused a delay and it was this race. I remember when I started going in 2010 there were much more oil-downs and more delays for track clean up and safety checks.
Clearly the car was in a really crappy mood. Didn't want to be in Pomona, didn't want to race. Probably just wanted to eat, sleep, and get belly rubs like my cat. If it had claws, it would have nailed him climbing in.
I was at the race yesterday and saw JR's car (without body) after the crash with Force. The only damage I could see was to the front suspension. The chassis sure looked like it was an easy save.. Dang, I hate to see a racer have such an expensive weekend.
@@grecco_buckliano You're very likely right, Grecco. I guess they will take it back to the chassis shop and put it on the jig, hoping for the best. What a bad weekend for JR...I wish him better for the remainder of the season.
@@NitroAlley I was wondering if they pulled out the back up chassis, too.. (please correct/or clarify if it was body, chassis, or both - just out of my curiosity and love for this channel in the words put into it 😊) But man.. even though these teams keep their backup car, matching their primary car, you can still run into fuel, clutch, etc. management issues since most don’t exactly get a lot of time to pull out the other car and make a few test hits.. not saying that is what happened but, in general, can and does happen… Just glad he is okay..! They are a champion team for a reason :) Did you happen to get any updates on that top dragster crash yesterday..? I haven’t had a chance to try and find out anything yet..
@@dmeemd7787 the update of the TD crash yesterday is both drivers are back at the track today and doing fine. JR pulled out a backup body and chassis from 2022 as there new 2023 car was destroyed yesterday according to Alan Reinhart and they ordered a new one being made ASAP
I remember back when you got a run every 5 minutes in pro level NHRA racing. Now it's either an explosion or crash every pass. You get one run and 25 minutes of clean up. Even vintage drags at Famoso have gotten so they're virtually unwatchable. Rain screwed up the March Meets this year but I think the races in October will be the last I drag my ass to.
@@NitroAlley … CRAZY for sure but these horrific incidents are always present, especially at drag races. They seem to float around until the opportunity arises and they randomly cross over to the plane that we perceive as reality, and strike with their force of destruction upon these machines of mind boggling power and speed. Or maybe one or more cylinders hydro-locked at WFO throttle resulting in the carnage you see. It’s bound to happen when such huge amounts of fuel is being pumped into an engine 🤔.
I missed first round but I knew something had to go very wrong for Todd when I saw Laughlin in the 2nd round, That guy should give up trying to be a race car driver.
I did not get a chance to look and see.. anyone you know if they pulled out the backup chassis..? Even though all the teams that I have bag of cars usually make whatever change on the primary car to the back of car, you normally don’t get a chance to test it middle of year so sometimes all it takes is something to be slightly off with the fuel or clutch management and you get a major explosion…. I’m not saying that’s what happened and it would never be a reflection of the crew either, just to be clear. They are world champions for a reason! Just glad he’s okay and they will be back out at the next race, like nothing happened to begin with..! Speaking of, if anyone has not seen that Top Dragster crash that happened yesterday, definitely look it up and if anyone has any more info on it, please share it.. I’ll do the same, because I feel like he may have it
Believe it or not a Pro Stock is more expensive to build than a AA/FC but THAT'S BOUT IT!...The expense to field a pro-fuel funny car for an entire season would run circles around the build-sheet for a pro stocker even if the fuel team did everything right (No wrecks, Explosions) but yeah, Ballpark figure at 150 to right around 200k roughly...A "pass-ready" NHRA-legal pro stock would certainly set you back a quarter-mil.
Yesterday bad day for John Force, next day disaster for JR Todd! Glad both are safe, they will be back next race.
gotta shout out to JR's driving skills. the car was blown into the air and he kept it straight
Even the engine hates that Toyota
Lol…good one
Rough, expensive weekend.
wow that moon eyes livery 😍
"KABLOOEY"!!!💥💢💥

I seen that yesterday.. wow .. 300 MHP then boom 💥
poor JR.. expensive week for him.. ouch!
Gosh that commentator is very funny 😂
Talk about a rough weekend for JR
Pomona has been unforgiving for JR Todd. Two race cars in as many days😢.
Reminds me key and peele with the commentator mentioning how many times the car blew up and how JR should leave!!😜🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤣
I’m glad JR and everyone else is ok
Blimey the DHL car must have had my parcel I have been waiting for! Glad the driver was ok....

Yeah theres no way it was junked like the announcer claimed in this video
Well it was a new super precise assembly and they for sure knocked the precision out of it.

Damn, did a black cat run across the Pomona track before this weekend?
Maybe for JR and John Force they tangled Saturday both lose rd1 Sunday and JR loses a primary and backup car
@@NitroAlley There was a car hitting another car just like JF in ProStock.
A big reminder just how dangerous nitro can be when it goes wrong

One Expensive Weekend For "Big John" and "Connie de Con"
Shuga boom boom ! 😱😱
They thought yesterday was rough
WOW..😯.. There going to find yellow fiberglass particles on the Moon !
I really feel sorry for that team. This week has been absolutely cruel to them this weekend. Hope that new car shows up soon. Glad he's ok. 😢
Thank God he was wearing his parachute....
Rough weekend for JR.
All-State? They've seen a thing or two..
That sucks really bad 😮😡 CHIN UP J.R.

that toyota engine has left the track
Man! Talk about no luck at all.
I don't think that will buff out.
Is it just me or has there been some crazy stuff happening this weekend?!

hes had a rough weekend
Bad weekend for the team.
wow what a ride
With multi holes out, why didnt they shut it off?
Stupidity because there’s zero chance of making back what you hurt if it decides to do it for you
how much does a new body cost?

They used the backup for sunday
was it the pcv valve?
oops glad he was ok
JR knows taxes are due and has to up those expenses it seems... 😢
Except, he can’t claim till next year 😁
What a Bad Weekend for team Toyota.. go figure
How do these guys get so much money from sponsors to run these very expensive machines and crew?

Ha ha oh what a feeling
Damnit! Two 150,000 racecars in one weekend! How much are those things? Am I in the ballpark?
