@@RacersUnited yikes!!! Long ago titanium block drag engines were at 2000 hp. I added a bunch to get to 3500.
Things have changed!!! I will go read a bit on how the heck they did that!! I am gonna guess they are huge displacement machines (what maybe 1500 cu inches ?) and they got the revs up with better dynamics on the crank, better blowers to higher pressure and mass flow, still can’t see how they got to 12,000, that just blows me away.

@@RacersUnited OMG. With the same 426 basic Hemi layout still less than 500 cubic inch, they have reached 11,000 hp. My interpretation is that the aluminum is kept cool and strong by gross rich fuelling. No water jacket so instead solid walls. By burning nitro methane the effective mass flow is increase ( the amount of energy in each cylinder charge is greatly increased because the nitro methane can burn so extremely rich). Everything is set up to hold together for the 3 or 5 second run, including thermal inertia. By that I mean the engine is rapidly heating and if you held it at such high power another few seconds would soften and fail. Absolute optimization of every aspect. The culmination of many decades of development. Very very impressive.
