Yup, it was a bit sad to see her be so hard on herself. I think everyone knows these are not restaurant conditions (2 do everything without prior preparation in 1h) so it's a challenge and a fun watch. Everything seemed to be delicious at the end too!

i love how sohla's logic for putting champagne in the caramel was "because we had it" and it was something all three of them really enjoyed at the end-how their small choices make a difference
They are disappointed in their execution on appearance. Fine dining is a fantasy of perfection that is achieved, and repeated dish after dish. For food at that level their presentation (due to rushed preparation) was not correct. I'd be very happy to prepare and eat food like they made, but I'm not working in a fine dining kitchen.
I love that Sohla and Ham always cite their cultural inspirations and now here, with all the chefs they referenced from. It's so refreshing seeing them be so creative with food but also respectful at the same time. This to me shows cultural appreciation at its finest form. It's always a delight seeing them in the kitchen and I love seeing Vaughn love their dishes as well!
There aren't enough superlatives to describe Sohla and Ham. They are so much fun to watch, so talented and I just want to eat every single thing they cook. I just love them and this series!

This was actually one of my favorite ones! I kept saying to myself “wow that looks incredible” while sohla replied back “I’d get fired for this.” Still remarkable, still so creative and experimental. Also LOVED the working momma there with her baby! (As a mom myself) Be proud both of you! ⭐️

The amount of culinary knowledge, skill, and reference/reference to other chefs between the two of them is really amazing to watch. Watching two excellent chefs that are also fans of other chefs that love everything about food is inspiring.

The love and excitement for things that seem a little out of my comfort zone makes me feel like I can be more fearless in the kitchen. Also, I freaking adore how the champagne in the caramel was a last minute addition that made the whole thing more interesting and tasty!

I'm always amazed at how really talented people discount their ability to make something simple and delicious, and only see imperfections in finesse, rather than how amazingly good the product is because of their skill. It's the curse of a good eye.

As a new mom myself, it was sad to see Sohla be hard on herself. Maybe that’s something she’s always struggled with, I don’t know, but from my personal experience I’ve been a lot harder on myself since becoming a mom. On the flip side, I was almost emotional watching her interact with her baby, kissing her over and over and talking to her and waving to calm her down when the baby was off-camera and fussing. It’s just so universal, that love we have for our babies. ❤️
I grew up on an island and we used to make crafts from sea urchin shells, I had both a sea urchin lamp and a sea urchin mobile above my bed as a kid, but we never ate them, they were just "trash" in the fishers' nets, it wasn't until I went to a fancy sushi restaurant as an adult that I realised they were actually edible 😅

when i first started watching this series, i thought that watching these two insanely high level chefs riff would just be entertaining. BUT their joy and exploration through cooking has really been so inspirational to me!!! it really feels like playing and exploring through food, sooooo fun and i’ve incorporated so many ideas/techniques ive seen them use (in my low brow ways, of course)

I did fieldwork on the coast of Hudson Bay during the summer for a few years. One time, our boat ride from town to our field site was a couple hours late because they were out harvesting sea urchin. I don't speak Inuktitut, and our boat driver had limited English (and his wife none), but they broke out some of the urchins as a snack for themselves and I was visibly interested so they offered me some. Spent the two hour boat ride learning how to crack open and clean the urchin (a cup of Hudson Bay water to rinse) from the wife while he drove. He didn't need to translate - body language and demonstration were plenty. Lots of laughter at my (very poor) knife technique as I practiced. It was a feast! There really isn't anything like really fresh sea urchin.
Sohla is one of the best chefs in the world and I hate to see her down on herself in this video. Sohla you are a culinary genius, an ethical business woman, a mom, a stunning beauty, an inspiration to us all.
