Made me smile that you didnt forget about the transmission. Most people completly forget about it... For me it was the SOUND, LIVERY+BODYKIT that made the car THE CAR evrr since I was in elementary
The devil is in the details, and I'm going to hell for being thorough. Driving any car is a unique experience, and the M3 GTR has a lot going on, and if even one little detail is missing it won't feel genuine
If you are looking for a v8 swap, i would prefer the 1uz with a single turbo, stock internals can take above 800hp, and its a 4.0 just like like the original.
they didnt even make a 1UZ with a manual, so you're adapting something, and its 15 years older with heads that flow half as much as any of the BMW V8's, even M60', with no aftermarket support as anyone wanting a performance motor just uses a 2JZ. yeah awesome.
You need either M3 GT2 engine the P65B40(it is identical to M3 GTR sound wise and better perf wise, but its hyper expensive) or TVR Cerbera AJP V8 that sounds indetical to ingame car, some decent straightcut gear setup, rest is what Andre was about to do with bodykit and side exhaust which is tons of fabrication and and welding work you need to do by yourself.
Scottsdale Motorsports can handle a lot of the cutting and duct work for you in order to prep it for the exhaust install, but you need a roll cage to keep the car rigid
I think that the straight-cut gears is why they don't have to use the clutch on up/downshift. Without the angled teeth, it allows the gears to slip together much easier, so "floating" the gears is not nearly as precise of a thing as it is in a normal street car. The primary reason we don't see them in road cars is the excess noise, followed by the fact that they wear quicker.
This is a very, VERY well made video. Finally someone who talks nicely about this icon. However, as a long-time dreamer of the E46 GTR, I need to point out something I learned while looking for the car itself: 1) S54, S65 and S63 (with their relative racing versions) are NOT the most economical versions. M60 and M62 engines are 4.4L (and even 3.9L) versions of BMW V8 engines which, sadly don't make more than 347HP stock, but sound amazing, and they're really affordable. The redline is about 7500 RPM, basically the same as the original P60B40 engine, but they don't go over 6,000$. You can easily put some custom injectors, new headers and ECU remapping to get the notorious 440 HP. All this for half the price of an M3 E46. 2) The original wheels which 2M Autowerks offers, the BBS E88 Racing, were used in a different version of a GT2 M3 E46 (also present in some Gran Turismo games), but sadly are not the one used in NFSMW's E46 GTR. Those are the BBS RE594/RE595, and fortunately, they can be found in Scottsdale's website. However, a cheaper alternative can be easily acquired from Rogue Engineering, who made a pixel-perfect replica of those, and you can have it for 389$ each, which leads to a total of less than 1600$. Other than that, covered every meaningful point of the video. Subscribed.

So now i know that not only i need to learn how to drive a manual but also how to drive a car with a racing transmission because i can breake it if i dont... oof, i always wanted to get one of these for fun and maybe use it as a daily but it seems like a hard thing to do with the trans, i love the sound it makes tho so it wouldnt be the same without it.
@@Drip_King Could be potentially cheaper if you find a totaled speed eight Cerbera with any of the AJP engines. It would sound identical to the game. IRL gtr only sounds like this inside the cabin. It would still be really expensive tho. Cerberas are not as rare as M3 GT2 or GTR but still really rare, and its a bit questionable to tear down and nice one for something like this. Only if you find one that go ruined in some rear end crash, and menage to scoop it up before any TVR owners who may like it for parts.
That’s a great question! How’s about I make a video about it and I cover how my buddy Van did it on his NFSMW M3 GTR replica? He retained the stock headers, and section 1 parts of the factory of the exhaust, but the section 2 portion is the side exit.
@TheRacingJoker I would love that! Actually considering an M3 right now and definitely wouldn't want to get rid of all the interior, unless just to upgrade it.
You made a lot of engine recommendations but which is the best in your opinion? Best in sound, performance, less liability, and not economical (just imagine if you have all the money you can get). My opinion I would get either the P65B40 or the P65B44. Another question is it possible to turbocharge both P65B40 and 44??? If possible is it better to leave it NA or turbocharge or supercharge?
Get a M3 ( E 93 ) and then tell the guys at West Coast Customs to do the GTR treatment to it ( Body work - no problem ) Engine enhancements - look for someone for that stuff

And second, if I were to build it in the future, I just want it to be a four seater car, but still dope, is this possible? If yes, can this setup obtain a side exhaust instead of a rear ?
For real thou, maybe 300-400hp is enough for me since I'm not planning on joining underground races lol. I just want the feels from the sound of m3 gtr nfs most wanted variant for me to delight with and enjoy the nostalgia with a super lower price. Thank you again for this vid, joker ❤️
You can go with the stock S54 inline six the car comes with and just use the GTR exhaust system I showed in the video and use a holinger straight cut gearbox with no sound insulation, that should get you pretty close
@@TheRacingJoker can I ask for your help when the time comes that I can buy and build my own? Haha I'm just scared cause I lack the knowledge, understanding and friends for car building, that's why I really want some people whom I can trust with this, specially this costs a lot. I hope you were still around that time :))
Great now I need the M3
Dew it
*nice pinstripe *guess who’s back*
Imagine you're just driving a stock bmw m3 with the iconic paint job from nfs and you see cross chasing you in a corvette
Hope you post your journey when you start your built
Edit: e46 GTR had a V8 originally. Chassis can be a 320 or even a diesel, and just LS swap it. Closest and cheapest way to do it.
The M3 GTR in mw uses the sound of a TVR cerebra
This is true
@@TheRacingJoker so shouldn't we do a swap of it as it is a 4.4 l V8 and has a flat plane crank too
@@Drip_King Could be potentially cheaper if you find a totaled speed eight Cerbera with any of the AJP engines.
@@Kacpa2 hmmm
You are right tho
@@TheRacingJoker Btw I made a real life sound mod
It was Fucking doable
I do be watching these videos eventhough im poor af
Great video btw
Is there a way to get the side exhaust without the roll cage? Or atleast a way to keep the original back seat?
Maybe a partial roll bar set 😅
That’s a great question! How’s about I make a video about it and I cover how my buddy Van did it on his NFSMW M3 GTR replica? He retained the stock headers, and section 1 parts of the factory of the exhaust, but the section 2 portion is the side exit.
@TheRacingJoker
I would love that!
Naturally aspirated 500+ bhp P65B44 is the perfect engine
@@TheRacingJoker why not supercharge or turbo
@@letsgowraith4152 depends on what you’re trying to build. I personally would love a twin turbo S65 V8 in my M3
@@TheRacingJoker so what do you think which will sound like m3 gtr supercharge or turbo
I want to build a replica like the original one
Get a M3 ( E 93 ) and then tell the guys at West Coast Customs to do the GTR treatment to it
( Body work - no problem )
Engine enhancements - look for someone for that stuff
That's not how I'd do it at all. Brewer motorsport BMW S65 in a reinforced E46 M3 chassis, custom side exhaust with valves, holinger rd6 transmission, genuine GTR bodykit/2m autowerks replica and an air suspension setup to keep the car streetable
What about the s62 engine? Surely it looks identical and powerful than p60b40 engine.
I think S85 is perfect for this car. But if you want cheap, LS Swap or maybe 13b rotary no one will complain.
Chevy LT6 baby
What about the wheels Tom? If we cant get the official ones, can they be custom made?
To sum it all up, win the lottery
Didn't mention Flossman's body kits for the E46, not accurate enough to the GTR in your opinion?
Not in my opinion no. They look great though as an aftermarket option
