Everything seemed to be stacking up nicely for me with what they found on the pathology reports and my genetic testing - but hearing the "official word" from the Oncologist was HEAVEN! I really think I can help others by sharing what I've learned along this journey. I like doing these banned book videos - some of the best books I've read!

Great news on the health front. Throughout my life I have consistently heard that Chicago persists as one of the most segregated cities anywhere - I’m not out often enough to test the proposition, but I believe it.

Yes! Thank you! I had a great week in many ways! Sidney Poitier is probably the reason why I remember the movie at all. My mom loved him and I think we eventually watched all his movies together.

You know I didn't realize how almost black and white about phrasing of a "banned book" was. This video was super insightful, and really help see what gets a book to receive it's "banned" title. I didn't get the book as part of my literature on my end!

So much of the bans and challenges happen at the local level - sometimes a book is challenged, but manages to remain in the curriculum or on the library shelf. Other times, books are simply moved to other library shelves and filed under a different catagory. But bans can also go much further - I learn something new everytime I do these videos.
@JanetReading Raina was a street dog in Puerto Rico before I adopted her. She has learned to wait patiently for treats and never give up. She also loves a routine. And now she's learned that me at my desk with a video camera equals "treats".
