Summer of the Seaboard - CSX 1982

- Summer is here in Florida, and apparently, so returns the Seaboard. Upon CSX Transportation beginning their very own Heritage program, one of those locomotives turns out to honor the former 'Seaboard System' railroad. Upon hearing that it's very first assignment would bring it down to me, I had a reason to get trackside, as this locomotive showcases a vital part of not only CSX's history, but that of Florida Railroading as well. Come along, as we follow the new CSX Locomotive #1982 on its maiden train to Tampa.

I hope that the content which I produce is somewhat enjoyable. My videos primarily show what railfanning is truly about. Whether that includes my friends, jokes from our boredom, or simply the trains themselves. I’m hoping that along this journey, new viewers will become regular fans of this channel, as I’m showing some things which others may neglect. Besides, I’m just doing what I love and it’s always nice to share that with people who share those interests. In the end, whatever I’m producing is meant for trainwatchers and railroad enthusiasts of all ages.
Thanks for Watching!!! Авто/Мото
Well Kota I'm sure🎉😊 that someone in Waycross knew the significance of this Seaboard System 1982 making it to Tampa.Even though I wasn't there to witness it. However with you on the case along with your broadcast excellence I feel like I was right there. I grew up next to Tropicana Yard so it's absolutely special to me. Thanks , be safe and keep up doing what you do. I'm out🎉
Thank you very much! Comments like these are a lot of the reason I continue to make these, so you are equally appreciated. As you likely know, I tend to see trains around the Bradenton facility quite often, and now with these locomotives coming out, I’ll be waiting for the day that the Atlantic Coast Line, or Seaboard Coast Line locomotive shows up in Bradenton. That, I’ll definitely be taking a day for.
It's a good day when Kota posts.
I agree. Finally finishing something and getting it out…feels pretty good too🤣
Hollywood undead in the background tho with 1982…. Keep it up OG🤙
That’s a great video brother love the history
Thanks! I certainly enjoyed the history myself.
Cool! Nice seeing ya out there!
It certainly was. Good seeing you as well👊🏼
This HU 1982 came through Cordele,GA on I026. Saw it on the rail cam there
I've just now seen that locomotive pass the Wilson county trains station unfortunately I forgot to it record and was disappointed but very satisfied to finally see a heritage unit for the first time in person.
Even tho the CSX heritage scheme might not be the first choice layout of some CSX definitely should be applauded for their effort to put out a heritage fleet celebrating their core railroads.
Congrats on getting out to get the Seaboard System loco first run, on its "home" rails no less!
I can second that, especially since CSX has such a rich history, like most Class I systems will, but theirs hits a lot closer to home, which it visited first! Personally, while I think the fade itself could’ve been done better, or perhaps just differently, I’m quite of the fan of the 2/3rds paint concept, and at the end of the day, we’re grateful to see them making these in the first place.
Next up is the Conrail unit with 3 additional ones on the way.
@@blairterry9435 Are WM, C&O, L&N any of them? I don't really know any others
@@epiccsx So far yes. The L&N one is worked on now.
I would like to see you make videos about all the CSX heritage units. I know it might be much for all of em, but it's gonna be worth it😁
That chase was amazing! Now Subbing Kota Nice video!!
Well, I appreciate that greatly, thank you! I had a fun time with this one as well.
I agree. One of the best I've seen! Congrats !!!
Great video bud and great narration
Thank you my friend, much appreciated
Its great to Seaboard System Back on Home Rails when still running in 1983 in Modern technology 2023.
Yes sir, it sure is.
I am so grateful I was able to catch 1982 on i44 the other night. I didn’t know it was there newest HU until this video.
Well that’s pretty neat! Obviously, only for now is it their newest. There will be quite a few more coming out over the weeks.
@@kotabeaner over the next few weeks really? I thought it would be longer than weeks
Well, generally speaking, I meant. It could span over the next year for all we know…haha!
@@kotabeaner oh ok. Hey I love the videos btw hopefully you can get out more this summer even tho it’s like 103 everyday
Yeah well, I’m getting out 5 days a week my friend. We’ve got a huge track project at the Florida Railroad Museum, and that means manual railroad work all week under the sun. That’s where basically all of my time has been going, but I’m making a video about that project too, hopefully I’ll have it done in another week or two.
Thanks, Kota.
Welcome, Mikey.
Can't wait till the L&N Heritage engine comes out. I started in New Orleans in Dec 1970 as a clerk with my dad who had started in 1941. In 1972, I transferred to transportation and a flagman and conductor. When my dad retired, I became an engineer on the line of road on the NO&M in March 1977 and retired on Nov 2011. I went through all of the mergers from L&N, to the Family Line, then the Seaboard System and last was the CSX. Never forgetting I was an L&N child and loving everything about the L&N and not forgetting it. You did an awesome job on the video. Will continue to follow your videos.
Hollywood Undead hit the nostalgia nerve just right
They’re alive and well, my friend👊🏼
Nice Catch+ DASH 8
Going down to Florida to railfan on the S line is on my bucket list for sure. But there is one specific train that I do hope to cross off my bucket list, and that is one of the phosphate trains. Like B216 for example. That’s an empty phosphate train from the BNSF Cicero, Illinois yard back to the Bone Valley. Heck maybe I would be able to catch a loaded one like B215 which is the northbound loaded counterpart to B216
Well, I certainly wish you luck for whenever you decide to execute that. If you need any help, feel free to reach out to me via my Email, or a direct message though my Instagram, and I’d be happy to assist you, should you need it.
@@kotabeaner I appreciate that but I'm not gonna be executing it for a while. But when I do, I will probably be taking the Auto Train so that way I can bring my truck with me.
I hope it comes back to Florida, I missed it the first time...
Eventually, I’m sure that all of the new designs will have their Floridian visits, and perhaps you can snag some of those, cause there’s no way I can get out for all of them!!🤣
Great video Dakota, as always. Nice seeing you again.
Thank Ya Micah, we’ll do something again here soon, but in the meantime, we’ve got some track to do…🤣
BEAUTIFULLY DONE!
I can't say enough about how good this video is and how enjoyable this video is!!
Well, I’m glad to hear that! I had a lot of fun making this and putting it together, so that’s quite good to hear.
@@kotabeaner I would like to get to know you better, you seem to be a cool person and if I come to FL I'd like for you to be able to help me catch the traffic
Sounds like a potential plan! Feel free to reach out through my Instagram or my Email and I’ll be happy to assist you with information or whatnot for my areas.
@@kotabeaner I added you on your facebook

Awesome video! You hit the ball out of the park with this one! Nicely done!
Thank you very much! Good to hear from you my friend.
Very nice. Excellent production.
Thank Ya Broski, glad to see Texas treating you well.
Nice Shot dude
What a BEAUTY!!! Love the fade, although I would have faded it out a few more feet.
Another GREAT video, Dakota!!! I swear that you need to work in Hollywood!
Yeah, I agree with you there. I’d certainly have preferred a more drawn out fade, or a design similar to the 1776 Veterans, with a sort of dividing line. Either way, I’m glad to see them making these. I’ll always keep that Hollywood idea in the back of the mind, but at least for now, swinging the hammer on the railroad is where I truly want to be😉👊🏼
Yay a banger
Hooray!
My man! Hollywood undead and RRing awesome! I've heard this song live when I saw them in 2018
Yessir, they nailed that track. It actually fits the theme of the video perfectly if you think about it, day of the dead, Holy Ghost, that of the Seaboard System Railroad…
I hope they make a Family Lines System HU someday.also that was a awesome vid kotabeaner.😊

Yeah boss, I got a pay stub with that Logo
Yet another great video. I wasn't a fan of how CSX is doing their heritage units when they first came out, but I'm slowly warming up to them. I'm waiting on the L&N unit since they ran by my house in southeast TN when I was a kid. What was the song you had playing in this video? It sounded really cool, but I couldn't make out what it was. Thanks and keep up the great work. It's much appreciated 👍👍
Thank you! I’m still a bit uneducated myself on just how many railroads CSX plans on doing for these. Either way, everyone’s got something to look forward to. I’m not the biggest fan myself of the fade they did with them, but with some schemes, it is able to work. I would’ve liked to see them do perhaps a more lingering fade, or a sort of dividing line like they did with the 1776, but, that’s just me. The song that I used was ‘Day of the Dead’ by Hollywood Undead. Ironic, huh?
X means private railroad like you see on tank cars and such
Great job....don’t work too hard...
Thank you my friend…though I must admit, I quite enjoy the early risings, and the RAILROAD work I do just makes it all the more rewarding👊🏼
I wonder when they will paint a Pan Am locomotive scheme on a new locomotive.
I live near jacksonville, do you know any other trains that usually run southbound almost if not every day, and at what time?
It's great to see these units finally happening.... all after I left for Arizona (go figure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Regardless, great production as usual!
Such is life. On the bright side, they’ll all be out and running around when you get back!!! Thanks for both the comment, and the early morning updates Richy💯
WHY CANT THEY PAINT THD WHOLE THING??!?!!?!?!?!?!?
