while I was reading Tolstoy's "Kreutzer Sonata" I imagined this, in my mind it was more...violent, but only now can I understand the sheer beauty of it.
IT IS WONDERFUL. BEETHOVEN VIOLIN SONATAS . THANKS, MANY MANY THANKS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO LISTEN THIS GREAT AND AND OTHER PERFOMANCES.........KOGAN ONE OF THEM,LIKE MINSTEIN , MENUHIN, OSTRAKH AND ANOTHER.........GENIUS OF VILOIN.
Me too. I just read the short story "Kreutzer Sonata" and am finishing up a bio of Tolstoy. Can't say I really enjoyed the story two much with either ending, but I have been re-reading many of his other books and have found that one finds deeper meanings to them as one grows older.
Thank you! Can't get enough. You found a piece I hadn't heard since a kid in the 70's from parents record collection, and never knew where to find later. My favorite always. We also had the (big fat) piano roll! Can't remember who played master copy.
listen, if somebody's (maybe an untaught Russian) told you a stupid thing you shouldn't repeat the same fault. "thick" in russian means not Tolstoy but "то́лстый" ("tolstyj" in transcription). Tolstoy is a name and it has no link to the adjective "tick". I hope it will help you in future.
to those who came here because of Tolstoy - I suggest a more energetic rendering by Oistrakh / Oborin or more sensual by Perlman / Ashkenazy, not because those performances are 'better' - each one is great, but because you may see better what Tolstoy got worked up about.

Крейцерова соната-это навсегда. Больше сорока лет слушаю и , каждый раз, как в первый.
Самая потрясающая музыка! Одноименное произведение Льва Николаевича Толстого не менее потрясающее!
Tolstoy's 'Kreutzer's Sonata' is an awesome read. This one is awesome to hear too!!

При звучании этой музыки уменьшаются отёки , а также активируется венозный кровоток
Kogan was a hero to classical music period.

Yes, the cute Tolstoi story. Seen the film ?
Who is the pianist? He surely deserves some credit...
The pianist is not Emils Gilels, it is Grigory Ginzburg.
amazing!!
Highest violin genius
The pianist, if I am not wrong, is the great Emils Gilels.
Erial80

Очень впечатляюще!
ВЕЛИКОЛЕПНО!
@plagueofangels666 Tolstoy wrote a book with the title 'The Kreutzer Sonata' based somewhat on this piece :)

Thank you so very much.
Could you be so kind as to please name the pianist?
If it is form the set of Leonid Kogan 10 vol. recordings, one can be sure that the pianist is Grigory Ginzburg.

Why does it say the artist is Renaud Capucon in the information section?
