Project: Helliatus. A powered-up phantom ruby, infused with a godly power.
and now its in his hands.
Two soldiers look on in horror at the chaos around them, the casualty count is in the hundreds, at least!
and in the center is him, Infinite.
but didn't sonic kill him?
A ritual gone horribly right, they had to of been insane to worship him. They brought him back, the scientist turned warrior tried to stop them but it was too late. Infinite was reborn.
With nothing left to try and prove, his mind turned to one thing, and one thing only; Revenge.
No matter how many of Sonic's friends tried to stop him, Infinite took them down one by one.
Sonic, stuck in the delusions made by Helliatus, was powerless to do anything but watch.
The soldiers wanted to help, but they were pinned behind a wall. Desperately trying to keep themselves safe from Infinite's minions.
All hope seemed lost, as Infinite raised his sword to strike the final blow.

Which then shattered.
The scientist, whose very own blood was used to infuse Helliatus, would not stay down. A well timed sniper shot was all it took.
Infinite, in a blind rage turned his new fire-power onto the scientist, not realizing the illusion.
Jumping off the cliff, the scientist threw his guns to the soldiers, who could not stand this bloodshed.
Hope was coming.
And it starts with you.
