I just took all 6, panicked thinking I needed my stomach pumped, raced to the internet, and thankfully found your video! :) Thanks for the reassurance!!!
Thank you for creating this video. I was confused about how to take it. I told my doctor and she still didn't explain to me. I also have GI issues and take medications for that. You made it clear and simple.
I always took the first 6 at once but i didn't know that each day you could do the same. The instructions only said to do it for the first dose. Thanks. I'm definitely going to do this next time. Thanks
Thanks. I got mine late in day so I chose to start the morning. Since I had not taken it ever before, I took 3 at breakfast and the other 3 a couple hours later when I had no adverse reaction. Been taking the rest all at once in the morning. I take with food since I had gastric bypass a few years ago.
I just started them this morning using the directions on the back. I have horrible pain in my ears from built up pressure and live with one clear nostril. Stretching these doses out will give be a complete 7 day vacation. It had me wired, but I’m willing to deal with that for some relief. I want to hear again.
Dr , great advice. My MD just RX for me (being a Retired RPH) I’m used to seeing the directions that are in the unit dose package. My physician prescribed as you recommended. I am going to follow your and his advice. Especially since steroids( glucocorticoids ) are usually taken in AM. Due to circadian rhythm. Thanks DR
Just taking one in the morning makes my heart race so bad, and I am having shortness of breath after walking across the room, I can’t imagine if I took all six at once! I think I would probably have a heart attack! And thankfully, I haven’t had any trouble sleeping on it . I’m on my second from last day and I don’t know how much more I can take! I haven’t even been able to work.
I have taken as directed on the package but having horrible anxiety. I used 4 pills today and suppose to take two more tonight before bed. Can I just stop now. I cannot take my heart palps and skipping beats. I honestly feel like i am gonna die.
Hi Jill--that horrible anxiety is so awful, isn't it? I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Definitely bring it up with your doctor because that's not safe for you.
I wish I would have known all of this when I started my pills 5 days ago. I have felt like crap and so many side affects, like insomnia being right up there. I even took a Covid test that’s how bad I felt.. and still feel. I have 1 pill left to take , you guessed it, tonight at bedtime like it says. And my last one tomorrow. Why in the heck would they even dose it like on the package if it effects you this way? Makes no sense, but sure makes sense that I have insomnia! I will never take this again… it has not helped with my bursitis pain on top of the shot I got. The doctors really need to explain the taking of these pills to patients, should not have to find out online because you feel like your So I’ll from some flu. Thank you for having this Video.
I only made it halfway through my pack and had to stop taking it. It was prescribed for my chronic plantar fasciitis. I was getting sudden onset of near fainting spells and severe weakness along with hunger like nausea. It got really bad on a Saturday afternoon and I did not take the bedtime dose. I managed to make it to church Sunday morning and called my pharmacy. They told to me stop taking it immediately and not taper off with additional instructions to call my podiatrist on Monday morning. What are the alternatives?
Hi Ryan! I created a blog for Prednisone Natural Alternatives. You can watch it here for better understanding ☺prednisonepharmacist.com/education/prednisone-natural-alternatives/
Doctor Megan, the time is 8:04 pm I am sure is too late at time you to get this comment, I just got my prescription and I started with one pill but later started to search for information and found you, I took all the first road of six pills, now I guess I will have insomnia 😰 I hope I can conceal my sleep since I have fibromyalgia plus my congested nose, I develop due to a proceeding someone did on me. I also take medication for my fybromologia, oh boy, I hope my Doctor explains this to me. Thank you and be well! 😢
I just took the first six at once even though it’s almost 9pm because I got my medicine late in the day. That’s what the blister pack instructions say to do. I wasn’t sure what to do with the second dose, but after watching your video, it seems I should take all five “first thing in the morning.” I probably will take with breakfast. I wasn’t expecting the pills to have a bitter taste. Good thing I had something handy to eat.
I wish that I found this video for Day 1 since I kind of screwed up on that end. However, I'll try taking all tablets at the same time for Days 2 to 6....
Ive been taking this for 3 days now and i just dae the back and i thought i was doing it wrong because i took it all at ounce but this video helped so much
My daughter was given the 6 day for cough, mucus and inflammation in left lung. Will this medication help clear that up? And dang I wish I knew this before, about the take all in the morning at once.
Medrol is an excellent anti-inflammatory, so that makes sense why the doctor prescribed this for her inflammation. I'm glad you know now how to take it!
I took the pack 7 yrs ago for pain in my knee and neck and pain went away for few years and now just took another pack the way it was scheduled and my question is how long will affects last. Like I said first time after the pack I lasted couple years from pain and wondered if that is usual and expect this time around?

Thanks, this is the best explanation for taking 6 at 1 time on day 1 or spreading them out. & this is the only video that I've seen to explain the remaining 5 days.
Since I feel great after the first day on methylprednisolone why do I need to continue with the rest of the pills? What is the reason to take the whole pack? I understand why if this was an antibiotic, but why for the Medro Dosepak?
I was just prescribed the methylprednisolone 4 mg for a sinus infection. I just took my first two pills this morning and don't want to take anymore. Is it dangerous to stop after taking only two pills?
I’m not a Dr and this isn’t health advice and not suggesting this at all but from my experience and I’ve used this dose pack and prednisone many times and I’ve stopped. Didn’t effect me at all. Now if you’ve been taking it for a while then I’d recommend to taper and Or talk to your doctor. In my opinion just after 2 pills, again my opinion, yes it is safe.

Now my headaches has returned for 2 weeks but its heavy so i finally gonna give it a shot My pharmacist couldnt give me much advise of the side effects, do you know if the time and dosage im taking these tablets will have heavy side effects for me like gaining weight or mental problems? I always had a fear of medication and i started looking up the sideeffects and it there seem to be so many.. Are the risks really that high if i start using it? Im glad to have found your channel that at least has some more info on Medrol.
Generally taking it less than 5 days is okay to stop and not worry about tapering. Taking it all at once first thing in the morning will actually help you to have restful sleep during the night and not worsen any side effects.
Why the fuck would they write something on the instructions for the medication that is the complete opposite of what you should do? This is insanity. Pharmaceuticals can't work like this.
I was given an iv of 125mg of methylprednisolone (solu-medrol) two months ago in the ER for an allergic reaction that gave me rashes and it gave me a rare case of extensor tendonitis on top of both feet. Oh no-- I'm concerned to hear you say trouble sleeping! 😟 I'm really not familiar with a "Medrol" pack, but I just picked one up today for my mother, who is 89 years old... Her primary doctor just prescribed it yesterday for the 1st time, due to noticeable swelling in her Right hand, also painfulness & decreased mobility in her right arm & shoulder.... I live in the house with her, so I'm like Oh pleeease- I hope she can sleep soundly, so I can ALSO rest peacefully tonight too!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 Taking a "Medrol pack" is brand new to us, please offer me any other helpful suggestions for my 89 year old mother initially taking it today? We experienced a "side effect" issue a few weeks ago, my mother took Tylenol PM & ended up having a very rough night, NO sleep, awake all night long, talking out loud & having Hallucinations- just from taking Tylenol PM!!! It was terrible, she didn't even know she was in her own bedroom!!! Omg, I took those pills OUT of the house completely! Terrible "side effect", but it cleared up as soon as she stopped taking it!
Yes--those side effects can be awful. Melatonin can help with the trouble sleeping. It's one of the most important ingredients in Nutranize Zone, the first and only supplement for people taking steroids like Medrol, because the methylprednisolone is messing up our sleep cycles. So we need melatonin to replenish what it's stealing. Regarding Tylenol PM, one of the ingredients in there, diphenhydramine, is not recommended for people over 65 because of exactly what you described. It can make people hallucinate, lose their balance, have trouble urinating, and even fall. Good call to take it out of the house!
Mam, my ENT doc gave me this 8mg for 7 days for sinusitis. Now treatment is completed. So shall i leave it immediately or shall i now take 4mg for 2-3 more days (heard that its not good to leave immediately)? My doc is out of city now
I’m not quite sure what you’re asking but if your doctor’s prescribed treatment is completed then you are probably fine. Definitely ask your doctor if you’re still wondering.
The problem with this is that if you take it all at once, it is out of your system in less than 12 hours (half-life is 2.5-3.5 hours). The goal is not to get rid of the pills ASAP, but to spread it out throughout the course of the day so it is constantly working on reducing your inflammatory response. If you take it all at once, you get a big burst of anti-inflammatory relief, but then it comes to a head again over the next 12 hours. A true pharmacist would know this and would never recommend this dosing schedule in order to prevent insomnia. Unfortunately that side effect is just something you have to deal with while on this medication
There’s a difference between the half life and the anti-inflammatory activity. While the physical drug molecule may be out of your body within that timeframe, the anti-inflammatory action lasts longer than that. So you’re covered as far as inflammation. But the insomnia issue is dealt with. All true pharmacists I know actually recommend this dosing strategy. It even gives it as an option on the Dosepak itself (but it’s kind of hidden and not intuitive).
@@jenniferlee9029on mine, on the left side in the bottom half it says, "Rx only: *Instructions...all six (6) tablets may be taken immediately as a single dose or may be divided...". It is not the primary directions, which are the main text on the back of the pill pack, which is why it is confusing/deceiving.
taking all 6 at once doesn't sound right, also the directions are both non-existant, and so small, even with a magnifying glass, it's next to impossible to read... I assume the manufacturer wants it to be spread out throughout the day... I can't imagine anyone taking 6 doses of anything all at once...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@@PrednisonePharmacist highly agree with you DR obviously the DDS knows nothing about the anti inflammatory process
where is written on the dosepak that you can take them all at once every day. Just curious.
@@jenniferlee9029on mine, on the left side in the bottom half it says, "Rx only: *Instructions...all six (6) tablets may be taken immediately as a single dose or may be divided...". It is not the primary directions, which are the main text on the back of the pill pack, which is why it is confusing/deceiving.
question can i take half of pack instead ?
That’s a great question for your doctor.
Thank you ^^
You're welcome 😊
How long should I wait to get my covid booster after completing this 6 day taper?
Generally the recommendation is 14 days.
What, trying get me to od?
Nope. Not even close. Even if you took the entire pack at once that’s not as high as some people have to take for their diseases.
Thank You!🙏✝️🙌🏻🛐👆🏼😘
What if I get them at night?
Then take them all at once whenever you get them unless your doctor or pharmacist says otherwise.
I read it causes Insomnia that's why I don't want to take them all at night
I felt jittery with just two, will I feel 3 times worse if I do them all at once?
No, it’s not likely you’d feel 3 times worse. It’s better because then you won’t feel jittery at bedtime. 😴
My adhd thanks you lol
taking all 6 at once doesn't sound right, also the directions are both non-existant, and so small, even with a magnifying glass, it's next to impossible to read... I assume the manufacturer wants it to be spread out throughout the day... I can't imagine anyone taking 6 doses of anything all at once...
like I ssaid i read all of it, and still NO DIRECTIONS OF HOW MUCH TO TAKE
Thank you!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
