Looks great! Been hunting around for DIY stepping stone projects for a few weeks and I think I've settled on your simple method that allows for starting/stopping the project pretty easily compared to pre-mixing a big batch concrete and hope ya don't get interrupted or called away (chaotic toddler life atm lol) Thanks for sharing!
Hello, this is great demonstration. I enjoyed watching all very much tonight. I have noticed that your background have pretty summer insects sounds which we have it a lots in summer to autumn in Japan and I am missing it every summer and actually I was watching Japanese summer insects sound by other you tuber to relax my soul as I here UK hardly hear any insects sound like in Japan but I could hear from your place, it may be similar latitude or similar climate you have. Once I heated similar insects sound in South Africa too when my husband ship port in South Africa and ship chandler took us to nice restaurant then I heard it outside and I did really got homesick of Japan. Thank you so much for showing me how to make stepping stones with beautiful little creature sound at the same time. 💖 Insect called Suzumushi makes absolutely beautiful sound.
Just working the concrete with a trowel will drive the stones below the surface. It will also bring more of the Portland and excess water to the surface. You might try working the concrete mix a little bit longer before adding the mortar on top. I really like the paintbrush work. I would’ve never thought of edging it that way.
Hi Kristin, I see that you made these stones/video back around in November 2021. Would you please make a follow up to show us how they held up after a winter then spring thaw? I think that it is a fantastic way to make the stepping stones, I just want to make sure that all of the back bending forward efforts are worth it before I put my aching bones through doing it. I live in the SW desert, Zone 8a, with similar milder winters like you get in NC. Thank you very much for sharing this with us. 👍
Hi Kristine. Good Job!. Many of us wonder how strong those stones ended up being compared to mixed concrete. Also, may be ading fiber to the dry mix or a plastic/metal mesh when shaping the stone...
They doing great! Still no breaking or cracking and another winter is here! I have started another project with the stepping stones running from my back patio to my from door. I might try the metal mesh in those because they will get a LOT of wear and tear!!!!! 😊👍👍

@@kristinkrajewski569I got inspired by a guy named Jeffery Bale gardens .. absolutely stunning work, I've just begun my own rock collection to incorporate into my stepping stones around the lakes and seaside areas in my CT home... Looks easy I just did 3 bags of 60 lbs , feel very tired because lack of necessary preparation , good weather , hat , knees cap , ice cool lemonades. 😊
Hi Wendy! I did those stepping stones last year in the fall and they survived the winter 🥶 cold and the spring thaw no problem. I am making some more off my back patio. I will another video soon 😃👍🏡
Hi Virginia! I got the top nice and wet and add as I go. If you see the concrete getting to rocky you are washing away too much cement. That is way I add more mortar on top. Keep everything moist and you can add more water after a few hours or days after you finish.
Didn't you watch it? You had to because you certainly can't hear what she's saying but I'll answer your question , yes the mortar is necessary because there ain't no way she got the concrete mixed well enough it's gonna have dry pockets all through it that will crack and shift the whole thing.
this is not how you mix concrete. these are all going to crumble. did you just make it up as you went? why make a tutorial when you don't know what you're doing?
Thank you for your comment. I am using dry concrete to make my stepping stones. I don’t mix the concrete so I don’t waste any concrete. None of the stones have crumbled. I will make another video showing how well they are are all holding up 👍👍😊
@eat poop , that’s exactly what you should do ! How rude! Don’t like the method, don’t like the video grow along it’s people like you that discourage people. If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all. And as we Southerners say bless your heart
@@MsLbriley In one day the concrete is pretty strong, but it can take months for concrete to totally cure. I usually go back wet down my concrete every few days to keep it from cracking.

Wonderful! Have fun and send pictures 👍😎🏡
But try to stamp it (stencil) so it will look like real stone, not like this project which looks exactly like an ugly concrete.

First time I’ve seen dry pour stepping stones, I like them!
Such a awesome presentation and tutorial. I am thinking of doing something to my walk. Thank you so much for this ideas!!!
It was fun to do. More on the way !!!😀🏡👍
I wonder will the stones hold up as good being dry poured without some kind of reinforcement bars. It looks absolutely amazing.

What did you use to make the forms?
I plan to do this in my front yard but I will do a wet pour not a dry pour. I don't like the look of dry pours.
Great job! have you ever considered pouring it wet, and putting in pebbles for a mosaic? 😁
What a great idea! I might try that in the future 👍😃

after a year, how are your diy homemad walking stones doing?
What kind of concrete & where did u buy your forms ?
