  • Druhý test mého pátého tranzistorového Teslova transformátoru (SSTC V). Sekundár průměru 110mm a délky vinutí 375mm, drát průměru 0,2mm. S provizorním "toroidem" pracuje na 142kHz. Primár má nyní 3 závity. Polomůstek s obvodem IR2153, tranzistory BD139 a BD140 k zesílení proudu gejtů, dva IGBT tranzistory DGTD65T60S2PT. Napájeno jednocestně usměrněnou sítí 230V 50Hz bez vyhlazení, odběr 4,7A.
    The second test of my fifth Solid State Tesla Coil (SSTC V). The secondary is on 110mm diameter, 375mm winding length, 0.2mm wire diameter. With a temporary "toroid" it runs at 142kHz. The primary is now 3 turns. It's a halfbridge with IR2153, BD139 and BD140 transistors to amplify the gate current, and two IGBT transistors DGTD65T60S2PT. It runs from single halfcycle rectified 230V 50Hz mains with no smoothing, it draws 4.7A.

    S tímhle vybavením už je to jen krůček k tomu vytvořit interferenci několika vysílajících TC a tím polem zopakovat zajímavý Hutchison effect nebo Philadelphia experiment (tam podle youtube kanálu Swaruu nebo Cosmic Agency údajně nedosáhli dostatečně silného a homogenního pole a nevyzkoušeli si nejspíš ani modulování frekvence jinou frekvencí). Taky by šlo vyzkoušet Graviflyer, jako postavil Alexey Chekurkov. Ale podle Swaruu nebo Cosmic Agency existují jen určité frekvence pro vyrušení gravitačních vln a je možné, že graviflyer nejde některým lidem zreplikovat z toho důvodu, že jejich TC jednoduše běží na jiné frekvenci.

    The output sparks are coming from a sharp point on that metal grid ?, but then later they are mostly from the top of the 'capacity hat' - did you put something sharp on top later ?
    Very nice result with the mk V anyway :o)
    How your camera stands up to that much e-field nearby, I don't know :o)

      No sharp point, the sparks come from the point that sticks out the most on the metal grid. Not exactly sharp. But when I made the topload even taller, then the sparks came from the top, even with just a metal can, no sharp point, just the edge of it. The camera seems to have no problems.

      Actually I've been next to a 2 MW AM tower (540 kHz Kossuth rádió, Solt, Hungary) in few meters, and my phone was totally fine. When I got too close, my watch started to sense touching :D

      @@inductivelycoupledplasma6207 we had, like 3-4 pieces, all of them have lit up :) Also we brought a passive, crystal radio, it was loud like a HiFi system :D

    3 turns? How are your transistors not boiling? Today I made a first test and when I get to resonance, the IGBTs get super hot. Primary 5 turns. I don't really know if its normal; I double checked every connection. My pcb layout is pretty much like yours. And I also find it very hard to tune into resonance. As soon as I get further from the potentiometer, it falls out of resonance. Well I didn't expect it to work first time of course, but so far - very frustrating :p Any thoughts? Thanks a lot! :)

      It takes about 1-2 minutes before my transistors get hot. They are DGTD65T60S2PT. They have a massive copper heatsink. With 3 turns they get hot faster than with 4 turns. My potentiometer has a shielded cable and a grounded metal case. But of course a plastic knob :). Grounded objects give shocks if you're close to a tesla coil. If the potentiometer and its cable are not shielded, it easily detunes.

      @@danyk666 Well, my heatsink is not that big. I have the same IGBTs. Maybe I'm not driving them properly? I'm powering the chip using a 12V wall adapter soo maybe they come out of saturation and heat up as hell? Maybe I need the full 15,6V...

      12V is a bit too low for those IGBTs. They probably run with a higher voltage drop and they turn on slower. Maybe even desaturate, but a desaturation tends to lead to destruction. I'd definitely use a higher voltage. You can use a resistive dropper like me :). Definitely not all the chip voltage makes it to the gate. The outputs and the amplifying transistors drop some voltage. Also the bootstrap diode drops some voltage. And also the voltage of the lower IGBT is substracted from the voltage of the upper driver. So more voltage is always better.

    -So you can adjust the freq. to get the primary resonant, but the secondary might not be at resonance, so you have to adjust the top capacity load (more or less surface area I guess) until you get 'maximum sparks', is that right ? Or maybe when you tune for biggest sparks, it isn't obvious whether primary and/or secondary is at resonance yet, you just know that -_-something-_- is resonating ?-
    - It's not dual resonant, so only the secondary resonates, thanks DGW :o)

      It's not a DRSSTC :). The secondary is the only thing that resonates.

      Radio is my thing, and so I just expect every inductor to be tuned - haha :o)

    Akože fajn, SSTC je určite sofistikovanejšia než SGTC, ale mne chýba ten zvuk. To, že iskrište robí kravál, akosi k tomu patrí. :-) A nie, nebudem to vyrábať ani náhodou. Nechce sa mi.
