I've been playing through the entire series so far with my brother to get ready for Infinite. He had only ever played the first one the whole way through, right after it came out. We just finished 3 a couple of days ago. Thinking back to high school when 3 came out, the way me and my best two buds would stay up until ungodly hours just goofing off... Slamming through the campaign, beating our heads against Legendary... Screwing around in forge... Playing Firefight in ODST. This song will always carry an impossible amount of memories for me.
I remember playing reach for this first time and that made me tear up a bit. Having read the books, I knew reach would fall. But with that one line 6 seals his fate to reach, and it hits like a freight train with the weight of knowing he will die no matter the effort he put out So that others would finish the fight. To this day Reach is still my favorite game and that level being one of my favorite in the series

Up to 00:20 might be the most iconic section of the entire Halo soundtrack for me honestly. That, and the Halo 2 Theme MJOLNIR Mix up until Steve's dive into the main riff around 00:40.
So many memories summed up in a single song. So many hours in front of the TV, fascinated by all the grandeur that this universe has given me. It's hard to admit, but I believe that Halo will never return to what it once was. I hope I'm wrong, but that's just my fan heart speaking louder.
As someone who spent... an absolutely insane, inordinate amount of time with the original Halo:CE when it released in 2001... and maybe even more with 2... it's my feeling that Infinite is a tremendous step in the right direction bringing the franchise back to what made it great. Halo 4 & 5 tried too hard to be something they aren't... to fit into the other "shooter" franchises out there... forgetting that those sons of bitches wouldn't even EXIST if it weren't for the absolutely insane success that Halo:CE achieved. Infinite brought us back to what worked... a man, his gun, and his cute little blue head doll... and the emotions, the connections, the FEELING behind what made us fall in love with John and Cortana and their story to begin with.

So many memories summed up in a single song. So many hours in front of the TV, fascinated by all the grandeur that this universe has given me. It's hard to admit, but I believe that Halo will never return to what it once was. I hope I'm wrong, but that's just my fan heart speaking louder.
As someone who spent... an absolutely insane, inordinate amount of time with the original Halo:CE when it released in 2001... and maybe even more with 2... it's my feeling that Infinite is a tremendous step in the right direction bringing the franchise back to what made it great.
Halo 4 & 5 tried too hard to be something they aren't... to fit into the other "shooter" franchises out there... forgetting that those sons of bitches wouldn't even EXIST if it weren't for the absolutely insane success that Halo:CE achieved.
Infinite brought us back to what worked... a man, his gun, and his cute little blue head doll... and the emotions, the connections, the FEELING behind what made us fall in love with John and Cortana and their story to begin with.
