    Awesome video Vic, i bought the ZV E1 off your recommendation and ive only had it a few days but gotta say very very impressed, one thing i think would make this camera better if they bring a firmware update to customise the home screen icons to suit. One thing i cant fully understand is when everyone shoots in 4K 24p for cinematic look, ive tried this but just looks choppy when i pan across, i know im a newbie am i doing something wrong i have tried in 4k 24p 1/50. I find myself swithching back to 60fps to get the smooth pan look.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  Год назад +1

      Cheers 🙏 so there is a degree of customisation you can do regarding what’s shown on the screen. Pressing up will cycle through the displays. However the menus that you swipe in from the left and right you can’t customize. Hopefully a firmware update will bring that functionality.
      The 24p stuff is it “choppy” when playing back on the camera or just on the computer?

    • @aquinoj99
      @aquinoj99 Год назад +1

      That’s the trade off for using 24fps. While it is “cinematic”, playing it back on a 60hz screen will never be smooth. Lots of videos about this on YT. 30 fps will also be smoother.

      @Vic Barry I just tested it recording HD 24fps and 4k 24fps both I put shutter at 1/50 it was choppy on both camera screen and my iMac, will the aperture effect this, what is the go-to settings for cinematic look, bear in mind I'm a newbie to this cinematic look I normally shoot all my videos in HD 60fps (old panasonic camera) when it's in 24fps do you have to pan really really slow , any advise to get the cinematic look would be appreciated. Or maybe make a vlog showing or explaining how to get it. Your presentation skills how you come across to the audience is so down to earth. Great videos buddy. What do you think about the kit lens? The biggest problem with this camera that I can see from the reviews is that all/most of the full frame lenses available for this camera are heavy and big. Using one of those lenses kind of defeats the purpose of buying the small light weight ZV E1, at least as a daily carry around camera.

    • @wakeywarrior
      @wakeywarrior 11 месяцев назад +1

      I had the same dilemma and settled on the Sony 24/F2.8. And didn’t bother with the kit just bought the body which is now over £400 off at Park Cameras and others. I’m thinking that I definately made the right choice. It’s as small as the new Nikon 24mm F1.7 APSC lens which I own for my Z30 - and this one includes an aperture ring. Just wide enough for Vlogging with Dynamic Active on, suitable for most other things, and clear image zoom gives you a 36mm and everything in between. I now have a compact setup with amazing image quality the exact same size as my Nikon Z30 APSC ‘Vlogging’ camera. Quite amazing. The other advantage of that lens is stellar image quality, very fast totally silent AF with 2 stepping motors and Sony lenses get better results with Sony IBIS.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  11 месяцев назад +1

      @wakeywarrior yeah. Depending on what you’re shooting as always. The apsc lens are definitely a lot smaller but at the same time have their limitations. I think I watched every video on the ZV-E1 on RUclips and your videos definitely helped me decide to pick it up. Thank you! I don't Vlog. I wanted the best looking video I could get under $3k. I almost purchased the A7Siii but I couldn't justify the cost for my small channel and hobby. The FX30 was out because I have all full frame Sony glass so I didn't want to step down to APSC glass and the FX30 noise compared to my other consideration, the BM6K was not going to work. The BM6K was out due to the time involved with the focus system. For me there was no other choice besides the ZV-E1. I live in Pennsylvania (USA) and was terrified of all the overheating stories. Since I purchased this camera last week, I performed a 45min interview in my house (air conditioned, 72 degrees, 24fps, 4.2.2 10bit) with no issues at all. I also recorded an interview outside, in 74 degree temp, with the afternoon sun beating down on the camera for 21 minutes without any issues. I then immediately switched the camera to 60fps and recorded 5 minutes worth of slow motion b-roll, without any issues or warnings. That is close to the maximum limits that I will be using it for but I did purchase a cheap fan to rig up just in case I need to go beyond this. Now just waiting for that 120fps to show up. I don't do gear reviews but I will post a quick video for anyone in my same situation.

I haven’t had any heat issue though first time I had it , it was very warm. Haven’t tested it for any long videos. I don’t like that the flash sync is only up to 1/60 th of a second. Didn’t realize that until I saw a video saying that. I like hss. I think that it’s high iso base is 12800. Unlike my fx30 which is 3200. I shoot lots of low light environments and just use a variable ND and it’s easy. I wish it did what my A7iv did which is close the shutter over the sensor. I just did a job and there was this stupid dust in the middle of the sensor and some of my videos has this dark dot in the middle of these white clothes. I should have noticed it sooner but wasn’t using a monitor. But that high iso video looked really really really good. It feels good in my hands. I mostly use it on a gimbal the Zhiyun Weebill 3S. I use it in vertical mode and my A7C would sometimes tip over with the Sony 55mm 1.8 lens with the Zhiyun Weebill S. The combination of the Zv-E1 with the new Weebill 3S is perfect with vertical shooting which this clothing company wants me to shoot for their social media. @@VicBarry yeah, why would you get a $2200 camera + lens to have your footage look like a GoPro, this his a huge pitfall.
      All we needed from Sony was an a7cII with IBIS, 10bit and a front dial. That’s it, but we got this garbage

      Oh okay… I thought electronic stabilisation is better than ibis which on Panasonic is known to show a lot of wobbling on the edges? If you are certain… I might just get sigma fp and dove it on my mini gimbal and then deal with the large file sizes 😅

    • @9adriano21
      @9adriano21 Год назад

      @@18yearsoldnot I have the S5II, the wobble only happens on lenses 18mm or wider, and when you really are not being “careful” holding the camera. If consider that Sony’s Dynamic stabilization uses a 30% crop, you could apply that same crop the the LUMIX and never see a wobble nor a motion blur artifact, it’s superior in every way.

      @@9adriano21 thank you for the intel. I’d absolutely love to own a Panasonic. Currently I’m a Nikon guy using a cheap z5 and I really see the wobbles on a vintage 300mm prime. It would be great to know if the Panasonic ibis works as well on lenses that are not Panasonic… e.g. my zeiss biogon for Leica m mount. I’m still lusting over the zv-e1 and sigma fp though - they fit on a gimbal so much better and turn into compact photo cameras when you take them off… If it weren’t for my Nikon I’d definitely get the s52 bundle with the Panasonic 50mm prime for sure

      @@VicBarry I hate the icons on the screen. Everything is harder to do without buttons and dials. The buttons and dials that it does have are Fisher-Price Quality. The camera is awkward to handle with anything but the smallest lenses. From all the hype, I was expecting stabilization at least somewhat similar to my GoPro11. It was not even close. In fact it's not usable without stabilizing it in software. If I have to do that, then I might as well use a "real" camera (my beloved A1). I use my GoPro11 to make walking videos and the stabilization is magical. I bought the camera hoping to do the same, but with better low light capability. I don't know what people are doing in all these review videos, but I couldn't get anything remotely as stable as they were showing. And yes, I do know how to use the camera. I spent two full days studying all the documentation and numerous tutorial videos. So I sat there looking at the camera and asking myself why do I have this camera. It is not doing anything for me. I have bought all the best Sony cameras for the last fifteen years. This is the first one I sent back...

      Ah fair enough. To be honest less megapixels isn’t a bad thing especially for video. And on a full frame camera it’s crazy good. More megapixels are a necessity if you’re doing a lot of reframing / cropping of photos or printing out billboards.
      The Arri Alexa Mini, widely praised for being one of the best cinema cameras on the planet barely has 7 megapixels.
      All that said, still love the ZV-1
