This is awesome. I served 9 years in the Coast Guard and one of my duty stations was in Kodiak, Ak. I think it would be cool to make a documentary about the people of Kodiak and the history of the Coast Guard there.
Jeven! This is one of my favorite videos. I love the BTS and seeing how you made it all happen. I love how you keep the gear light and simple. Two cameras and three lenses! and how Jake is using simple Apple headphones. This is my style of documentary film making. I travel to interview tattoo artists and I do my best to do what you do. What are your thoughts on the A7CR, A7CII, and ZV-E1 after using them for a while? I was excited for the A7CII for it's hybrid capability but the 4k60 crop seems like it would get frustrating and might be a dealbreaker. The lack of an EVF on the ZV-E1 for reviewing shots and sunny weather also seems tough to work around, along with the worse hybrid capability and low MP. A7CR looks like a decent balance but terrible rolling shutter and worse high ISO performance.
I have got му got Sony ZV-E1and 24-70 lens for my travels. Thank you for your work and review! Great job! I have a question should I use nd filters in any weather? I mean before I think those filters only for sunny days. Thank you!
I'd be interested to see how this would do in warmer climates. Just tested this camera out here in Pennsylvania and loved it. But, with our current temps there is no concern for heat limitations. I'd love this camera as a travel video camera, but still on the fence how it would do in say a southwestern National Park come July.
I used the ZV-E1 in Joshua Tree in 100 ish degree weather and it overheated in 40ish min when doing a long take. Its a good camera but does suffer from overheating at times
Amazing video, thanks for it. I love zv-e1. But I have two questions: You say you use auto iso. But this camera has two native isos - 640 and 12800, why would you want ignore this? Usually I use 640 and I cant, I go for 12800 and reduce it with VND. Sencond question, is that Ulanzi tripod compatible with DJI RS 3 mini, or do I need to switch plates?
It doesn´t need to be that extreme, the base isos are better of course but for a run and gun situation it´s totally fine to go from 640 until 2.000 iso for example so if you let the auto iso fluctuate between 640 and 2.000 (well exposed, not pushing shadows on post) it´s really fine, it gets bad after iso 4.000 until 10.000
@@TheGuigotz ZV E1 has dual ISO. it is recommended to stick to the native ones. First is 640, second is 12800. Its very clear and noisless. If you try to use anything inbetween, you get a lot of noise

I am torn between buying ZV E1 and the FX30? I have an A1 and want a video camera to do behind the scenes and run and gun clips. The AF is very important as I work with animals and so fast tracking is key! I love the sensor in the ZVe1 and think the af would be better for what I do? But the build of the FX30 is superior and the two memory slots is a huge plus? The ZVe1 is being labelled as just a vlogging camera by many pros but I am thinking that what Sony is doing is actually giving us an FX3 quality camera at the best price they can? Tough question but any thoughts greatly appreciated. Love your work and videos are so helpful thank you
Great video, thx. I recently shot with these 2 cameras too but i found they couldn't match frame rates exactly. They either did 23.98 or 24 but not both. Did you find a way to match frame rates exactly? Perhaps i missed a setting Tx.
When you say you set your preferences for different film speeds, did you do that on a button or in your favorites section. Can you clarify this for us? Thanks. The project looked very interesting.
Having six Sony cameras, especially ZVE1 and the A7S three, I was extremely interested to see if the same sensor means the same image. Oddly enough after filming with the same exact lenses in the same exact spot, simultaneously, a7s3 showed way higher Dynamic range Than the ZVE1, which is kind of weird because it’s the same sensor .
Test videos to show the differences in DR would be good. It’s been proven that both cameras have the same DR by trusted reviewers. If it can proved otherwise that 7s3 has “way higher DR” it would be very interesting.
@@TlhOnYT A test would be very useful! My point is academic although sensors getting noisy as the get hot is real. If it has been hidden under noise reduction it will show up as lower DR against the original. Testing both cams showing NR settings aginast run time would be fab. Hopefully Sony havn’t applied a blanket of higher NR, meaning you can get A7s3 levels of performance under the right conditions.

So out of curiosity I decided to look at the Sony Create Action page. I thought it would be something interesting to look into. However upon learning about it it was rather disappointing to learn that it mainly focuses on prioritizing organizations that push woke messaging rather than actually helping minorities. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. American's and most who live in a western culture really don't have a grasp on what oppression really looks like and large corporations and 501c3's push these narratives all in the name of appearances and making money. If someone really wants to make a difference in peoples lives, they should find people that actually need help. Find someone that actually needs food on their table, a roof on their head, provide life coaching, and cloths on their back. Then enable them not to become victims for social media virtue signaling, but rather to become better versions of themselves to build a better future. Nevertheless this isn't a slam at all towards Jevon or his content. Large corporations do what large corporations do and money is money. It's just a gross disappointment when they want to promote grants to biased organizations that think oppression is when someone doesn't care about your pronouns or skin color when in reality there's organizations out there that are whole heartedly trying to invest to help and keep anyone that walks their way out of domestic violence, gangs, human trafficking, prostitution, or starvation and provide a means to preserve life with caring people, a home, food, an ability to earn, or education. If there's a place for those organizations to apply please let me know.
