Enjoy this performance of "Pua Kiele," a song written by the incredibly talented Hawaiian musician @JoshTatofiMusic who is often described as a "Polynesian Luther Vandross." Our version is performed by The U.S. Army Strings with vocalist Master Sgt. Tracy Labrecque of The U.S. Army Voices.

i strongly recommend you become "professional musicians" and get out of profession of being in Military. You are in the army volunteerly right, ?, Your were NOT DRAFTED ?, like back with my generation, the boomers.
This is super cringey. This is cultural appropriation. I hope Josh Tatofi is getting paid for this. I love this song, and They butchered it. They could have gotten a Hawaiian to sing this song with all the poverty drafting that they do in our communities. With that being said Demilitarize Hawaiʻi and Oceania. Stop bombing and live fire training Hawaiian sacred sites.

I get you Punahele, I too am proud Kanaka Ma'oli. Our people very exacting and protective when our music is performed by others. And we have our issues with the military occupation of our lands as well. We do not want our beautiful culture and aina exploited. However, in this case I sense that the Army band put the work in to be as accurate with proper enunciation and intent as they could, and I feel their rendition was done with much care and respect.
I don't know. I think she did a fairly good job. Not sure how I feel about culture appropriation when Josh Tatofi is Tongan, not Hawaiian, despite being raised in Hawaii.
