Right?! I remember that interview as well. I think he would’ve been happier with Bob Seger fame Not Beatles fame. I wonder if they hadn’t put out the SLTS video. You think they would’ve blown up globally like they did? Maybe they would’ve had a more manageable amount of fame
3 days later, Nevermind album was released and Kurt Cobain became the top rock star in the world. Unfortunately once he got fame, we was unable to deal with it and started to hate his status. Maybe that explains why the shows were so good before that.
What is it about Cobain that I find so riveting?! Three years of Nirvana, still can't peel my eyes away from him, and he's just doing, what? Playing. Singing. Changing up the lyrics, forgetting the lyrics. The close-ups are *great,* seeing him breathe and toss his hair and bob and .... Three years and he still mesmerizes me. An electric coil. Have grown a much deeper appreciation for Krist and his low-slung barefooted pogo-ing. And reconciling _this_ drummer Dave with deeper-husky-voiced Foo Fighter guitar Dave. Time-tripping is disorienting. Love these guys. Thx for the upload. :>)
Joe Eoj lol, a James Dean fan, eh? Of the oldsters, I'd nominate Cary Grant with charm and humor oozing out everywhere. Chris Cornell has just died on the 17th, and fans are deeply mourning him, talent, charm, charisma, sensitivity, all-around gorgeousness appeal. I suspect he'll grow in stature in a similar manner of people speaking in awed tones. For me, it will always be Kurt Cobain. :>)
Elena Reed ~~~~Even Kurts feedback on his guitar has more merit than when ANYONE else causes it! LOL!! Now, I understand that might sound obviously fanatical, but when you're hearing this level of power you're gonna even like the fucking feedback fucker! Lol. (I HOPE IVE MADE MY SELF CLEAR! ;)
I was there and i was 14 , my frend's sister was older and working there so came in by the back door! Lol! It was my first time at Foufoune Électrique but not the last :) My frend played babyfoot with Kurt, It's like a dream when i think about it now... Thank you so much for that vidéo, it brings me to memory lane...
@@arthurdefresne778 - The band didn’t start tuning 1/2 step down until about midway through 1992. They played their live sets in standard before that point, so the “drop” tuned songs on this set (Blew, Been A Son, etc) are all in drop-D, not drop-Db.
One of the best Teen Spirit performances I've ever seen. It's clearly when the band was still into the song. Later on, they'd put as little effort into it as possible.
That last bit isn't true. The 30 December 1993 show has an awesome Teen Spirit performance. Just as much effort put in as their shows from around this time.
was anyone else there apart from me? we wernt even 100 people , long time ago , i was like 19yrs old , im turning 43 next week. the best shows is when noone knows them yet pure authentique, no no supiriority rock star bullshit , just pure jamin,
I had turned ten the day before and was an hour down interstate 15. .. Where is this club located? On St. Catherine, Crescent street? Thanks. Amazing that you were there. I think this is one of Kurts best exits phenomenal show.
I wonder if they were off to Europe right after the show? Must've flown out of Dorval... I miss that airport flew to Europe from there myself. It's crazy howthey lleft and had no idea how huge they became in the states etc. If not for the phone calls. I still remember me and my sister dancing around the living room when we saw the video on MTV for the first time. ...
Saw them in London about 3 weeks after this at Kilburn. Fucking cool show. Grohl wore his bass drum on his head during the finale. No mainstream fans yet just joads of blokes who looked like they were out of Screaming Trees moshing violently. By the turn of the year they were the biggest band in the world. It kind of got ruined once that happened.. alternative became mainstream and within a few years all the indie labels had been bought up by corporations. That's why Nirvana are truly the last great Rock band and this show is so authentic.
Such a great show to have on video! They were obviously in top form with the release of Nevermind just around the corner. 27 years later and there is still not a single rock band to supercede their raw talent. I knew they were pretty special the first time I saw them live! It was so wacky to see super tall Krist on stage with much shorter Kurt. Then Kurt being a lefty as well.
oh man i was in montreal then, had just moved there for school. i might even have been at foufounes that night - i was often there - met L7 there - but didnt see the show. i could kick myself!
Get it !!! Them boys are bad! Not drug addled and jaded but just Rocknroll kids out there in the proving grounds and close to each other and the fans are real music freaks and it’s raw. No glitter and rock star bs yet, just living the dream. Tough and hard. Less heavy than love buzz and bleach 88-89 eras. They are still a kick ass and seriousness in the band. Obviously Kurt got weaker and was more fragile , self aware and distracted by a few things in 93-94.
I love finding these shows around the date i saw them tour for Nevermind. I saw them in Chapel Hill, NC 10/04/1991, the day after my birthday. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to, and even though i didn't get to meet Kurt, i did get to talk with Dave and Krist at their merch table when i bought shirts. Haven't found a video of my show, but i have an audio recording of it at least.
You know from my first comment I've noticed that it seems Kurt feeds off the crowds energy, and later on the crowds may not of been as physical, since more mainstream fans filled the seats.
Amazing set! Thank you for posting! Surely everyone there was forever changed, as the rest of the world would be, starting in a mere 72 hours! At least Kurt gave everything he had while he was around: what a ferocious singer and guitarist!
I thought that, I watched their performance at the polytechnic college in leeds yesterday & kurt was playing one of his white strats & thought it sounded better than normal, must be the extra frets you get 😅
Foufones Electriques is legendary, so many great bands played that club, I have a poster for the DAYGLO ABORTIONS playing that place. It still around today which is rad!!
Of all the bands i would have liked to see live is Nirvana. I’m so pissed at life for not being able to. Thats why i spend my days watching the videos here on youtube. God bless everyone and enhoy these pieces of musical history. RIP Kurt and peace.
I think it would have been better if Nevermind had been a moderate or modest success rather than the phenomenon it became. It seems like pre-Nevermind Kurt was having much more fun but then after the success of Nevermind he had a huge psychological burden to process. If Nevermind had sold more like "Bandwagonesque" by Teenage Fanclub or "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine, both great albums released the same year, maybe Kurt would still be alive.
Thanks to ones who filmed this show its magical kurt is so beautiful and hot and his voice is The best in rock history iam in heaven everytime i hear kurt sing 🧍♂️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸💋💋💋💯😎😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
I heard Kurt say in an interview that he was happiest as a performer just before they became famous, which I guess was about this time...
He doesn't sound too happy
Lol Kurt was just sarcastic 🤣
He was a hypocrite and idealistic fxxk like most of us Art people.
I saw the DC show 13 days later.
Yeah, you could feel the culture changing.
Air was electric.
Right?!

One of my favorite concerts just because they played Scoff which was quite out of the ordinary for the Nevermind era
Mon dieu l intro de négative creep ❤
holy shit, no Lithium, weird heh
Maybe they wanted to keep some stuff for the release...
When I watch this, I'm reminded why I love those shows from 91. Just pure energy.

I'm hard-pressed to name someone with more natural charm and charisma then Kurt. Also I'm sure being a dreamboat didn't hurt either.
Joe Eoj It's impossible to separate the talent from the physical presentation, so entwined. Kurt Cobain - was / is the whole package. :>)

Totally infectious song!
haha, yeah. If I had been at the show I would've been like "please don't mess with the song all the way" :D

part of it was his voice was really thick at this show. He has total control, he's not navigating around all the worn spots
