I was VERY lucky last year: a friend of mine is a 777 pilot with Swiss, and he invited me to come along to a 4 hour long training session in their simulator in Zurich.
It was fascinating to see how they worked through some scenarios (e.g. smoke in the cockpit, ash through volcanic eruption and subsequent unreliable airspeed, fire indication in the cargo hold) - but the highlight was at the end: "Stephan, now its your turn". So I took off (no tail strike 😛), flew a couple of patterns and landed (bit bumpy, but I DID land 🙂) the 777 at LSZH. The closest thing I will EVER get to flying the real thing!!
Lucky…
21:33 Very nice Swiss-German PA
Die Ansage in Schweizer Deutsch absolutes Highlight im Video Emi 😅
This thing is marvelous... Nicely done, Emanuel!
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed the video. I'm looking forward to getting the 777-300 when it comes to Xbox. The Vatsim and GTX stuff really makes me want to get a proper PC. The details you show are fascinating. I also enjoy that you land manually (except for autothrust). It's interesting that the plane cuts thrust automatically at 20-30 feet. Thanks for doing this Emanuel.
The swiss accent was amazing
Yes I liked this 🤣
I used to drive catering vehicles for Gate Gourmet at Heathrow. The 777s on the BA fleet were some of our regular customers...yes, they are HUGE aircraft.
Diese versuchte Ansage mit schweizer Akzent 😂.. Grüsse aus Zürich!
chch :)
Really enjoying your 777 previews! Can't wait for 777 download day!!!
Emi, even the A380 to Dubai sometimes takes off from RWY28. At low weight I think nothing prevents a B773 to take the same RWY.
I never saw the A380 taking of from 28 at zrh. It always takes 34. But i could be wrong
@@fly320YT A380 usually takes of from 16. Like most of the big birds from LSZH under normal conditions. Sometimes 32 or 34. I have never seen an A380 or 777 take of from 28... but I guess it can happen on rare occasions.
@@TheOli4D Yup i ment 14/16. I just took the opposite side. But somthimes the big ones land on 28 and rarely take iff from 28. Happened to me on a A350
@@fly320YT I am almost sure that I have already seen it taking of from RWY28. I don’t think that at low weight a 2500x60m RWY would be a problem (with headwinds). But I may also be wrong 😅
@@frankbyte I searched the web, the 380 only lands on 28. A takeoff would probably work but maybe they dont do it because the A380 makes a lot of noise and probably needs toga so the other runways make mor Sense.
Can’t wait to get my hands on this!
in the correct seating position you should see the top of the glaresheild as the edge of a flat plane and also see the flat white cross above the rudder pedals just touching the top of your centered yoke
This is weird, but I really like the sound of the cockpit fans PMDG have made for the 777. It seems to reflect the size of the flightdeck well and sound very clean.
Hat richtig Spaß gemacht Dir zuzuhören/sehen, wie Du selbst offenbar viel Spaß mit dem Flug und der 777 hattest. Freue mich auf eigene Erlebnisse... soon^^
52:20 We're stuck with the basic WX radar until MeteoBlue decides to license the 3D data. And I'd rather have something than nothing, even if only to add flavor.
@A330 Driver In your stream, the sound quality is excellent. In other streams, the sound of the engines sometimes doesn't sound as good. Are you using anything special for the sound, or is that the standard PMDG 777 engine sound?
I didn't do anything special, this is just the normal sound of the plane.
@@A330Driver I'm wondering if there's a sound balance issue that PMDG hasn't considered. On this video, the balance sounds very good on takeoff meaning the slightly artificial sounds are more hidden. Perhaps there will need to be suggested sound mix settings included.
The Ge90s don’t really sound like the real ones I’m hoping pmdg can fix that
Cool! Thank you for the amazing video! Are we going to see more during the weekend? :)
Thanks again for the Video, this plane is so satisfying ,its sounds are ASMR like awesome..
I LOVE THE 777-300 CANT WAIT FOR THE -200LR
Did you catch Blackbox's stream yesterday where he ran into trouble on approach with the aircraft pitching down on itself and troubleshooting it long enough until he found that it is connected to the Flybywire system and that switching it off and going into direct mode removes the problem? I saw it in your approach on this video as well. You countered it with your yoke. But you shouldn't have to do that. After trimming and flying with the correct power setting it should hold the pitch without input needed.
I did not see his stream as I'm at the expo. All I can say is that I never saw the plane nosedive, nor did any beta tester.
The only reason I can imagine is that the plane was not in trim. It's not an Airbus, even though it is a full fly by wire airplane, it still needs trimming for speed changes.
I'm not sure what you said you see in my video about that, there was no such thing in here.
@@A330Driver You can check out what happened on the video of his stream it's on RUclips. He did some pattern work at Frankfurt at the end to troubleshoot the problem. And it went away after going to direct law.
A good moment to start is somewhere around 3 hours and 50 minutes into the video as he explains first how the Flybywire of the 777 works (mind you as a 787 pilot he is rated to fly the 777 as well).
The stable approach with the switched off Flybywire system is at the very end of the video.
He suspects others didn't notice because they don't fly hands off after trimming the aircraft.
Maybe it's something that was introduced in the newest build, which is why the beta testers did not catch it?
I see it twice in your video. The first time at 1:26:10 the second time right after you passed 1000ft and say "stable through the gate" The nose pitches down, you react and correct slightly.
@@QuotenwagnerianerThe pitching in my video is a normal environmental effect and nothing I blame on the FBW. I flew hundreds of approaches with the plane in the beta, most of them without AP and never had such problems.
Unless an issue was introduced with versions from the 19th onwards - where I left for Vegas - I can safely say I did not encounter any such problems ever, nor did I see or read from any other tester encountering such issue.
It is a bug confirmed by the devs of PMDG. Another real world 777 pilot who streams (Level Change) also had this unusal pitch down effect twice on his stream and even comments on it. It’s easy to blame it on “environmental effects”, but as proven the pitch down doesn’t happen in Direct Mode.
@@Blackbox711I didn’t encounter the effect myself though. Anything I saw in my time testing and recording is within what’s reasonable as external influence. I just checked your stream blackbox, I certainly never saw that myself.
Pmdg 777 and my hometown Hamburg made me click this video immediatly, thanks you for the previews. Excited to start flying her betweenn the 25th to the 30th of june! ;)
That was a great video going through all steps of the flight. I truly can’t wait to fly this thing!
Excellent video, very informative. Can't wait to fly the 777.
I really really look forward to my first long haul flight with this wonderful plane ✈️
My wife was cabin chef on this plane for many years 😊
The Longitude mimics the same auto throttle behavior at 50 feet in msfs. The fadec system will automatically cut the throttle while in manual control. Makes life so much easier 😎
Gott sei Dank gibt es auch time acceleration bei der 777. Ich benutze es bei fast jedem 737 Flug.
Die Ansage an die Passagiere mit dem Schweizer Akzent war absolut klasse! Love it! :D
Danke!
Hey there! Appreciate your content about the 777! Was just wondering if your are planing a Video on doing patterns in the Tripple Seven like you did with the 737 and the A320 before? Would love to see that!
Also, a more in depth video about RTE2 would be great as this isn’t yet covered by the older 737 videos. :) Keep on the good work.
Hi, I'll do both! It'll just take a couple days to get all of that out of the door as I want to finish the normal operations tutorials first so that people can start enjoying their aircraft!
Awesome! Looking forward to both of them!
Emmanuel, good video. 1 question, on take off, from 37:30 to 39:30, there was some rocking or swaying of the plane. I was a bit surprised because the 777 is so large, and the weather was quite normal. Is this due to the sometimes strange MSFS turbulence? Or do you think this could be realistic? Or did it have another cause? Greetings, Boudewijn
Great video!
A little feedback on the plane, i flew on a 777 back in march and hinestly the sounds are too high pitched, the real ones are more "bassey".
Also, BB711 (787/777 rated) fiund the flying if the triple seven kind of strange on his version, like it would become very pitch sensitive at low altitude (3000ft and below). Strangely, yours and another streamer's didn't behave like that.
Overall very excited about this beauty!
I did not know armrests were a mandatory item, thanks for that bit of info!
Such a professional landing.
Great video, Emi, can't wait to fly the thing myself! Quick comment about the auto EAI system at 1:15:32 - should it be active at and above TAT 10C?
I love these 777 videos! I saw the first one as well
looking forward to the tutorials cant wait to fly this baby
Other early Swiss 777 routes. Geneva, Nuremburg, Heathrow, Palma, Barcelona, Prague, CDG
You need to fly Swiss more often. Your Swiss-German sounds awesome.
Great machine. Impressed how fast you are at operating it when you're not type rated on it. I guess it helps that you've been beta testing it for a while. 2 questions: 1) Have you tried it with FS Realistic? The take off roll and touch down with no bumps shakes and rattles was rather jarring to me. I've become so used to simming with it on, I've forgotten how rubbish it is without it! 2) On the descent, you said you were 600ft above the profile/ How did you know this. Where is it indicated?
the green clouds almost like fart bombs😂
I cannot wait for this beauty on the 26th. (26th my time, guessing it's 25th for America)
very nice job and nice fly Emanuel!
Msfs 2024 can’t come soon enough!!! love this aircraft
amazing video!
Can you Make a tutorial about this plane please ? but without simbrief because I play on xbox and I can't use simbrief.
Thanks for the video! In a future video, can you please demonstrate how to setup the hoppie system. Thanks!
Great stuff 😃 I learn a lot from you. Do you fly with random failures?
Great video!! Love you Emi!
Where is the high pitch engines sound on departure? That's not the real sound! Why??? It sounds like a cfm a320
We need a full 777 guide before the release!
Hallo Emanuel. In meinen Augen bis jetzt die besten Videos zur PMDG 777 für MSFS. Sehr konkret zu den Neuerungen, die Besonderheiten und den Highlights. Hast du besondere Einstellungen im Bezug auf Sentivity bei den Controllern?
mennn 2 dayss left sheeshhh😍
Does the touchdown feel like an actual 777, or is it like a 737? I.e does the main gear actually touchdown twice or just once?
Suisse accent with a straight face😂 love it
Thanks for all you do! One of my favorite flight sim creators.
🤑
Thank you so much, that’s really appreciated!
Your videos always so good :)
Does the PA actually sound in the cabin? That would be amazing
Helll there. Thanks for everything. U r the best. Just wanna ask, do you use live weather?
Hi, thank you so much! Yes, I do!
Hello Emi, just to confirm because I never flew the 777, when landing with auto throttle armed, the levers automatically idle? Or do we still have to idle them?
Great video :)
Small note, in ZRH we always fly NADP1 with 1500/3000
Just wondering, on which fleet is that?
@@A330Driver Procedure 1 is standard at Zurich and 1500/3000 is standard at Swiss for all fleets.
@@lorinalbrechtEdited my comment to remove the reference as well ;-)
Are you sure about that? I received data deferent information from some people whom I’d usually trust in such matters. Do you have any source to confirm your theory?
@@A330Driver it's defined in the swiss CCI to operate NADP 1 at Zurich. In the 777 it is 1500/3000 for sure, I remember it to be the same for all fleets, but I'm not 100% sure.
I don't know, if you can configure the default values in the PMDG, but the Swiss 777 do have those 1500 for thrust reduction and 3000 as accel height as default.
For what it's worth, I just happened to finish my IOE on the 75/767 yesterday for a North American carrier. My last flight was out of ZRH back to the states and our company pages said fly the NADP 1 procedure
Requesting ATIS is that true cpdlc ?And the turbulence on departure, is that a pmdg feature or are u using an other addon for that? It looks amazing!
ATIS requests are an ACARS feature, not a CPDLC feature.
Hi Emi, i know you usually don't do this but is it possible to show replay of landing at the end of stream? That was butter landing btw :)
Thanks so much! Which flight plan layout is that? Is not LIDO... Thanks!
Is it true the 777 tends to nose down on final, I’m hearing a lot of chatter about that
No
What mods where you using for this?
Hey, when will your 777 full tutorial come out?
1:32:20 Please take this as the constructive criticism it is meant to be and not as "trolling" which I have no time to do. You make fantastic valuable content for the community. But clearly there is some displeasure among some. I think this is the sort of interaction that gets under people's skin - a sort of superiority complex. Yes you are a real world pilot, but these are not real world controllers. They're hobbyists giving their time away for free to help other simmers have greater immersion. They don't have the same judgment as a real world controller (I am a real world controller at a major US airport myself). Could he have crossed you? Of course! But no need to harp on it...just like that infamous VATSIM incident where the controller wanted to change your altitude and you didn't immediately know why. This is flightsim and everyone is here because they love it, not to get talked down to. Show some grace and it will ingratiate people to you. Just my unsolicited two cents. I enjoy the content.
what are your turbulance settings? i usually have it on low when flying with fenix, do you change it for planes such as the 737 and 777?
I just keep them there, too lazy to change them all the time.
Can you do a video on step climbs and auto step climbs in the 777?
How do you activate time compression? Is it PMDG 777 specific or MSFS standard? I've never used it for anything before.
When will prices be released?, and is it on track to release on Tuesday 25th June 2024
Do you have an video on what to think about when flying to the US on vatsim? (rules and regulations + differences)
That aircraft is so cool and i will definitely buy it as soon as i can! But two simple msfs limitations really annoy me.
1. There's only one touchdown point in the main gears so it's basically just one gear.
2. You can only connect one jetway.
the one jetway issue is an asobo sim issue apparently this is fixed in fs2024
@@stoogeuk8088 Yup. I really hope it gets fixed. The landing gear thing is also a sim issue.
@@FinlandGuy747 yeah especially with these large aircraft coming out 2 jetway wud be awesome
@@stoogeuk8088 Yeah. It would be so epic to connect the 3 jetways to the a380
I agree on both issues, but well: Got to keep putting pressure on Asobo for those.
Is there Freighter version comning along with passenger one as well?
It’s gonna be a standalone product as far as I’m aware.
Freighter 200ER and 200lr are coming
@@HERD599 just to avoid confusion for others, they are coming, but several months later and as a separate purchase, not together with the 300ER
@@echosierrakilo2089 Yes, no time-frame announced but hopefully not to long!
I dont know if i missed why, but on the ILS into Hamburg, the DME never appeared even when on short final, is there any reason for this?
Quality explanations
Wow. How many airports in the UK can this beast use ?
Hmmmm .... 😮
A couple for sure, Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle and probably more. Maybe Edinburgh or Glasgow as well, not sure if any of them have a regular 777 service but I wouldn't be surprised to see Emirates there as well.
Hi Emanuel. Will you include how the auto step climbs will work? Or do you mind sharing it here in the comments? :D
I'll explain this in my tutorials.
how can you have such cool turbulences ? aktiv sky? which of active sky do you have passive or active sky
@A330driver do you know if we can control the CDU and the UFT from an external device? If not, please please please ask PMDG to look into developing the option. If PMDG is not willing to add that feature, do you know of any third-party developer that’s planning on doing so? Currently, I’m using a third-party program to control my B738 CDU and I never regret purchasing the program. As a matter of fact, I got two tablets to control bother captain and first officer CDU.
Why did you update always the heading during the flight?
Its SOP in I think every Boeing airliner. The reason is I believe that, if you had to change from LNAV to HDG SEL, you would fly the previous heading you had when using LNAV and wouldnt turn in a ditection you dont want to turn to. In Airbus you dont need to do that obviously.
23:30 where do the weather information come from?
strange noise down pitching oscillations on this thing
No idea what you mean.
@A330Driver Check out Blackbox711’s stream, he goes well in depth about his issue with the nose down oscillations, especially when landing. I’m sure pmdg is already made aware of the issue but it’s well worth a watch.
@@A330Driver sorry my mistake i meant nose not noise

Do you know if the taxi camera will be available in a future update?
Once Asobo enables pop out cameras in the sdk they'll be able to do it. Amazing how many things are not standard in this sim considering it was on fsx

Emmanuel, I have a question. What is the IVAO source?
Hi, that's the IVAO weather server.
Do you possibly know what that stands for?
@@AV8R417 IVAO is an online network just like VATSIM but with less traffic and controllers
No packs off take off necessary on the 777?
Absolutely not, Boeing usually doesn't do unpressurized takeoffs unless necessary for performance reasons.
Hi emi had a small doubt. The map on the home page of the efb requires navigraph?
The map on the EFB is in fact provided by PMDG so no need for a navigraph subscription to make it work but of course to access charts and so on in the efb you need navigraph.
