With practice and without explaining things in a tutorial you will do it faster. I'll be back to watch again to make sure I fully understand how to use these tools.
I'm new to resolve and SO appreciate your detailed tutorial. Things like explaining what expression means and how holding control down while adjusting are a HUGE help. A lot of other videos I've seen gloss over these small things, but they are so helpful for the average noob!
You are the only one I found searching on YT that do GREAT tutorials on Fusion and Resolve. PLEASE for you and us: do ALL the tutorials you thing people need to help us and to help you being the first on RUclips and then grow. If I can suggest: tutorials about flames, lights, text effects (like burning stroke etc etc). Just look at AE tutorials and what people search and do it :) Sorry for my English, I'm Italian and still learning :D
Jay, thank you so much! I am putting together a video of my daughter's dance recital for her grandparents and I wanted a call out at the beginning of the video with her name above her head. I went step-by-step along with you and it turned out great! Thank you so much for your time making this video!
The way I learned optimal tracking is to avoid potential tracking conflicts by using elements that differentiates themselves as much as possible from the "background" as possible. So it's a mistake to use the number plate because the double white lane divider and the dead grass interferes instead using the bright red right rear tail light would make for much better tracking result and less workload. But really good video.
Your videos are amazing! I have just started with DaVinic Resolve 15 and you have helped me advance so much quicker than I would have on my own or just reading documentation. Keep 'em coming!
You deserve every penny of the adverts. Your videos are the most important videos on RUclips for anyone learning editing. You are a master of your art. Extra points for using a amd cpu
PErfect! Thanks a bunch! I used to try a workaround using a Poly + Tracker + Text and that was not even close to how smooth this is. More simple vids for the simple folk please!
Great walkthroughs man. I just downloaded Resolve yesterday, and there's a pile in there I don't understand yet ... but I'm learning. The nodes in Fusion are crazy to wrap your head around. Thanks for making sense of it.
Suggestion: Use an app that displays the buttons that you push. So we can see the shortcuts :) Sadly I don't know any, but I see other producers using them. So there must be something! Great video as always :)
Just wanted to say I love your channel, dude. Your tutorials and tips are fantastic. As someone coming from the laggy, crashy, bug-fest that is Vegas Pro - Resolve is a game-changer for me. Such a fantastic piece of software. Thanks for doing all of these, mate.
I really, really like your videos! Aside from the perfect way of communicating the information, you as a person are just so nice to watch and listen to! Big thanks for your work from Germany!
Thank you so much for this! I was attempting something like this yesterday and gave up on it cause i was having difficulties getting the style i wanted. Now on the next video i can get exactly what i want. Keep up with the great videos! I appreciate them all!!!
Great channel to start implementing video editing techniques on my videos. I'm still getting used to the node based fusion editing, but this channel makes it easier to understand and follow.
Great tutorial but some of us (like me) are slow, lol. So many things are happening with no explanation as to how it works. Details, details, details....
@@JideaniSayz What is missing for me is the illuminated cursor, so I can see what he's clicking, and a screen cue of the keyboard keys he hits. There are literally no Resolve 15 tutorials at all that do these basic things . And that's a very complex screen, too.
@@Thomas_Deering_King I reccomend Casey Faris if you can't understand jay. but here is where you are going to find stuff that you cant find anywhere else.
I came here looking how to create an arrow to put alongside some text and found something a lot more useful. Not entirely sure if or how I'll apply this information but I'd like to think I can create my arrow now!
Yes, thanks so much for your Davinci Resolve tutorials - they're helping me learn this program way faster than I would on my own; stuff like the pick-whip and the expressions alone would have taken me a long time to discover on my own! If possible, I would really appreciate a video on tracking along with _motion cloning_ - I have some footage where the performer(s) have a tatoo (common) or a cut on their skin that I'm trying to remove. Prob #1 is trying to get a clean track on the area I'd like to remove (your tracking tips from this video I'm hoping will help me to get a better track than I am now.) Prob #2 is how to actually clone out the blemish as their arm or leg moves within the scene - I'm not sure how to do the clone strokes? I can easily get a great group of clone strokes to remove the blemish, but then what do I do as the footage progresses and the stroke group w/tracking are no longer valid? Trying to offset the paint strokes or resize / rotate the strokes aren't giving me a clean result and frankly, I'd the results aren't great or look lousy. How can I lay down new clone strokes OR do I need to restart with a new group of clone strokes - this is where I'm stuck at the moment... Any tips on this would be really helpful! Again, thanks so much JayAre for the time you take to make these Davinci videos!
As a new user to this program and video editing in general I know this tutorial is out of my wheelhouse at the moment but I was able to take some of it in for now. If you're open to suggestions it would be great to see a keyboard /mouse overlay (maybe fade it out some so it's not in the way of your main focus on the video). This would show new people what keys you're using to do certain things in the editor as you progress.
Coming from Premiere I think Da Vinci Resolve is very god. And amazing value. But I still feel After Effects has a clear edge on Fusion. This effect is very quick and easy in AE. But the fact that Fusion is built in is just awesome.
Your tutorials are a tremendous resource - very grateful! QUESTION: When pulling two nodes into the Inspector in order to connect data, how are you clicking/selecting the second node while dragging in order for it to populate in Inspector? I have been able to accomplish the effect by just "coding" "Tracker1.TrackedCenter1/etc." but not been able to drag and drop the connection. Thanks!
First I want to say great tutorial. I watched to the end. and then came back a couple more times to make sure i was following along correctly. I did however run into a misstep in saving this as a macro. The mask isn't transferring over to the single node even after I've tried literally giving it every control possible. I know you didn't speak about saving macros on this but idk what to do about the rectangle mask not working once I've saved it. please give me any tips you may have I'm at my wits end with this simple callout. Sincerely Shane.
Great tutorial!. I appreciate the effort. Concerning the call-out, what do I have to do in order to keep the horizontal line with the text at constant level and get only the angled line with a dot animated/tracked ? Thanks.
Would a planartracker work better for this? I imagine you could just mask the entire back of the car and it would track fairly well. Would've been interesting to see the difference
I wonder, is it possible to apply the tracking data only to the first point of the path, so the pink dot follows the car, but the rest of the callout is fixed?
I know this tutorial is old a.f so you probably won't see this but just in case.... can you put something up or share something with what you use for your background beats? I always struggle to find good beats for when I'm doing vlogs. Cheers
Hey Jay - I don't know what it's called, but how would you go about creating a "fixed label" tracker? So that the label/underline section stays in place, but the angled line + dot/focus area move with the tracker (thereby making that angled line extend and move as the object moves). I can't figure out how to track just a single point of the polyline?
In the Tracked Outline video - ruclips.net/video/61p54MbuIRc/видео.html I go over how to track points. You could set it up so only one point is getting tracking data.
Thank you so much for your help! Just one quick question - is there any way to move the whole animation after attaching it to the tracker so it follows the tracker but does not start at the center of the tracker? :)
your tutorials are amazing what would make them even better is a tool that overlays your keyboard presses to show us your shortcuts
This guy makes it easy for even me, a retired mechanic more at home under a truck than in front of a computer, to understand this program.
*24 min for a 7 sec clip... DAMN editing takes a long time!*

Does motion blur of that licence plate makes tracking more difficult? If so, does re-positioning manually helps for later tracking?
