The road improvement plan for St Thomas is the best thing that has happened in the parish in all my over 50 years of living. The PM has a vested interest in the scope of development. Unfortunately, those who are being paid to monitor the work on a daily basis have failed in their duties, and what should have been accepted as a success is being viewed as abject failure.
Let the quarries install the scales on site, or the government install them outside the gates. Don't let the trucks proceed if they are overloaded or not covered properly.
In my days as a boy they used to crush (river) stones to make the base of our road. Is it that that material is inferior to marl? Some of those roads are still holding
I applaud the prime Minister for his prompt boots on the ground approach to the issue at hand. Whether you are a PNP or JLP this is a good look, thanks Mr K you large.
Me usto work at a company called Geotech and i learnt some geo terminology as perculation standard penetration testing, soil clissification. As you look on the marl you see the dirt in it. Andrew look right wah you stand up. Dirt and marl. Look like a farm road you a bill. Failure
Scope and size of project is sure to guarantee there will be defects in the final product? Really?!! Lack of quality control is what did that. The water table was there all along with the old road, and that area was one of the best parts of any road in St. Thomas. That is an engineering failure.
The PM is been diplomatic in protecting local contracter however, there is a culture of dishonesty amongs Local Contractor that is well known from Independence. Our Local Contractor need to step up to the plate, and grow with the Country, They need to be as enthusiastic as as the rest of us to see Jamaica Grow!
But some of St. Thomas Road money was taken to other parishes, so don't tell me they prefer to mix dirt with marl. So a big head fools did know how the previuos road material poor and repeat same thing. Fix the road good once and for all, use shingle then mall.
The NWA hasn't captured the essence and significance of ensuring quality assurance on a project. Quality assurance is a proactive undertaking that services to minimize waste, reduce cost and deliver high quality, which requires that checks be undertaken at each step of a project to ensure that right material, etc are utilized and maintained throughout the project With the explanation given by NWA and the prime minister, the problem at hand is likely to recur. Too many of us Jamaican remain too uneducated, and hence our politicians can continue to bullshit us and get away with it.
Money is not the problem because the contractor has to fix it out of their pockets. What is concerning though, is the inspectors sat and allowed this to happened that simply means they are not doing their job effectively.
@@KHR-kan I don't think the JLP have a problem winning in St Thomas. After all Fenton Ferguson was MP in East St Thomas for about 30yrs and the place has nothing to show for his time there. West St Thomas with a few exceptions have been their ground for as long as I know.

That project was doomed from the start, and CHEC knows that the original plan to build a highway through St Thomas is quite different from what is currently done. Originally, we all know money was given to build a proper highway and not two lane carriageway. Listen carefully to his political talk. The man is bafoon talking about something he knows nothing of. In certain sections of St Thomas, the road should have been elevated to overpass status, so even now, with removing the called faulty materials and replacing it two years down the line, it will repeat itself. It has to go to elevated status where piles are driven to bedrock and then taken to overpass status.

St Thomas doesn’t have the economy to have a highway that bypasses all the towns. See what is happening in Porus and Clarendon Park? Not even the road to the NMIA is a highway😂 as your same PNP said it wasn’t needed. The road from Ochi to Portie is coastal and is still standing plus it carries the traffic without pile up. St. Thomas needs something similar, not something like the N-S highway.

In one of the videos, Whitehead mentioned CHEC had used marl contaminated with clay.
