@Jamal DeJesus The Marie Side Story (a What-if story where Leon stops Marie from interfering with the game's plot. Japan-only though, unless you find a fan translation) gives a lot more details on how the setting works, in particular the contrivances that made the game's plot go the way it did compared to how things unfold in the LN.
In it, it's made fairly clear that Olivia had no interest in the Five Idiots at the start due to their flaws and the fact she really just wants to focus on studying instead of dealing with their antics (despite her innocence, she's actually fairly perceptive and one of the smartest people in the story, a good example of that should be something we get to see in season 2 now that it is confirmed), but since she's a commoner and they're the creme de la creme of the nobility she can't really tell them no, and Leon doesn't step in to give her the crash course in noble etiquette that would likely at least get Julius and the bullies off her case. It's only when SPOILERS happens that she starts actively courting them, which also explains how plot had to progress 2-3 years in the game to get the harem ending but Marie was able to get them all to fall hard for her in less than one.

Unlike the five idiots he SAW her. He understood her. The idiots just saw her as a prize to be won. Marie took their attention away, even the bullies too. So Olivia was happy to be with Leon, since he never bothered her and gave her the space she needed.

Leon has both a huge inferiority complex and a tendency to overthink how things should go around him just because of the game's original setting.
I love how Livia just named the worst qualities for each of those noble guys.
Even in the dub, hearing Leon degrade himself really hurts.

Leon knew Olivia better than he thought; he saw her as a person, even when he saw what she was like in game. He feel in love with her just as much as she did with him; she was the sweet (and big breasted) girl he dreamed of. It hurt Leon to be near her because he was aching for Olivia; but he saw himself unworthy of her affection, wishing for someone better to woo her. In the end, Olviia had fallen for him and couldn't stand being parted from Leon; he respected her, and always put her first.
Olivia started with Leon as her friend. He introduced her to Angelica to learn how not to make social blunders. Olivia appreciated Leon only gave her advice and wasn't intruding into her personal time. More than anything, she enjoyed being around him; he hosted great tea parties, helped her study and stepped in when necessary. After seeing him defeat the Idiot Five and humiliate them for all their flaws, Olivia saw despite his greed and rudeness, Leon had a true heart and was capable of genuine affection yo loved ones.

This confession is great no matter what medium it is. It’s honestly the first time Leon has seemed flustered in the series which was a nice moment of weakness for him.
Also gotta love Livia Roasting each member of the Idiot Brigade.

@@truelovesoftware6582 there’s a semi-canon alternate universe called the Marie route that the official authors made, where Leon is able to stop Marie from interfering with the games plot and everything continues as it should, however literally almost everything ends up significantly worse than the main timeline, showing that Leon and Marie’s insertion into the main story actually surprisingly led to the best possible timeline.

Well she is still just a commoner and he is a Noble that's had a meteoric rise in rank over an incredibly short time; simply calling him "Mister" is fairly casual by comparison.

In the manga, he was in stitches when she pegged each of the love interests accurately.
I understood why they changed it. They didn't need to undercut this genuinely heartfelt moment with a joke.
In all of my years of watching anime.......... this might be one of my favorite confessions. Don't get me wrong fruits baskets has this show beat by a mile lol but this is an exception
Leon is so harsh on himself that he's never considered that he could be a potential love interest for Livia at all. He's a scumbag and he knows it but he's also extremely compassionate and kind....... albeit a crude way. Hearing this confession probably shook him to his core and I'm kinda rooting for him

You can tell the actors were really enjoying themselves. And that's a sign of a good anime!
Really hope this gets a season 2 and we get to see what Angie does when Her time comes around.

Right, should season 2 happen, Leon is gonna get hurt. Real bad. Granted, it's because at the moment he didn't think Angie though of him romantically when she really does, and because he thought Levia lost her love for him. It's cleared up, I guess, but my heart broke when Leon ran away sad.

There is a ship that can only be activated by 2 people in love. It's not defined whether it has to be romantic or love that is not just of friendship but higher, I have my own reasons to think the latter but... The ship showed Levia and Angie qualified with each other. By Leon's thought, their stares at each other from the happiness made it seem to him as they only romantically loved each other with him as the 3rd wheel. It didn't help when Queen Mylene tried to console him, making his assumption almost as fact to him with her concern. Believing to be in the way of their "romantic" love, he ran away crying until they both (much later on) made themselves clear that they had their eyes on him romantically, and that it was friendship between themselves (Angie & Levia).
@Moey habib I don't believe so. The original writing is completed, I believe (a web novel I think). However, Japanese light novel number 10 was release last May, and from my research, the series has more content compared to the original writing (More wives for Leon). In English, novel number 7 will be release in October.
The ship also says that Leon and Marie love each other, which makes Leon say it's busted. That was in a side story omnibus.@@truelovesoftware6582

@@zakirstocks9514 Leon gets the kindest and most pure women to fall in love with him.
While Leon is a really great protagonist, there is one major problem with him. It's not that he's dense, exactly. But because he's overthinking who should be with who. After playing through that whole Otome game, and somehow getting isekai'd into its setting, Leon believes that the world should play out exactly as how it did in the game, with Olivia being with Julius and his entourage.
What he doesn't realize is that while he IS in the same setting, there isn't any serious programming or source code that can really stop him from getting with Olivia or Angelica. I mean, yeah part of the reason is also that he's a mob who just wants to fade into the background, but there have been times he chose not to.
Angelica starting the duel is one of those times, as he knew she'd be forced to live a life of sadness and misery once she lost the duel. Leon, in a way, felt sorry for her, especially when that jerk of a Prince refused to talk with her and even things out. Not saying they HAD to go through with their engagement, seeing as how it's all political and Julius believes that he's only loved for by his title as crown prince, Angelica was right about Marie trying to manipulate or bend Julius and his entourage at their will. Not from the reverse harem aspect, but for how Marie only likes them for their money and status. Not who they are as people. Things would have been better if he at least tried talking things out with Angelica.
Back on topic, Leon spoke up and decided to be Angelica's champion to defend her honor, try to open Julius's eyes about how much he and his friends are being deceived, and, all at the same time, beat the crap out of the high and mighty nobles taking WAY too much attention from the ladies at the Academy.
Because Angie doesn't get to live in isolation, she ends up falling for Leon as time goes on. Add to Marie already starting to change things by stealing the reverse harem and the items needed to make Olivia the Saint, it would make sense why Olivia too would fall for Leon over time, especially with how kind-hearted and soft she is. And that's not even bringing up how Leon's got a good number of other girls falling for him as well such as Mylene, Hertrude, Deidre, and a couple others.
All in all, just because events played differently in the original game, being in the exact same universe does not mean it is destined or forced to be that way. That's something Leon needs to understand one way or the other.
I agree he keeps saying he's a mob character but he fails to realize how amazing he a near jack of all trade catch for the ladies well besides his somewhat "Charming personality "
@@brandonbrown3855 It's not just Olivia or Angelica who fall for Leon as well. Even that pervy Deidre Fou Roseblade seems to have taken an interest in him.
That aside, he is far from your generic harem protagonist. He's snarky, blunt, and takes no shit from anyone who looks down on him. Mess with Leon Fou Bartfort or those close to him, and you will get what you deserve.
I think that’s a reoccurring flaw with Leon; he doesn’t seem to fully grasp he’s not in a game set by rules or programs anymore.

I can understand why he would think that at first, but seeing as how he somehow got into the world itself, as well as other individuals such as his sister from his past life, the world around him might as well be some alternative universe. It's not like he died and got turned into a program or AI forced to follow along with the game itself. If he was, Marie wouldn't be acting on her own free will and getting away with it as we speak.

This is one of Jad Saxton's best perfomance. If anyone were a simp for any of the female characters Jad has voiced in the past hearing olivia's confession is the closest any jad fan would get to hearing their favorite Jad voiced character making a love confession.

The voice actors did this scene JUSTICE. I felt for both of them, with the desperation of Leon trying to degrade himself, to the determination and sadness of Livia from knowing what Leon is trying to do. Both VA's put their all into this and I love it!

The people who made this anime really did the original source dirty. The artwork in both the light novel and the manga (ESPECIALLY the manga) are INCREDIBLE! Meanwhile the anime artists did such a mediocre job throughout the whole show that it frustrates every time I see it pop up somewhere. The show also seems to like fast-forwarding every once in a while, skipping funny/interesting segments that add to the story in both the light novel and the manga. For those of you on the fence with watching this anime, I advise you to steer clear of it and check out either the manga or the light novel instead.

@@tjwizzy Correct, they do end up with him but they give new meaning to yandere. They're both needy, bossy, controlling, paranoid. They even sent a maid as a spy to watch Leon when he went to the Republic. The real kicker is they have to nerve to accuse Leon of being untrustworthy when they plus his awful family tricked him into the relationship. They even think he would have feelings for Marie so yeah both crazy and bad romance partners.
